Episode 302
bobcobb30128 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know if Michael Sheen was going for a Jack Nicholson impression with this character, but as weird and all over the place as he was, it worked.

This is the kind of thing The Good Wife did so well and this new kind of bizarre lawyer is the perfect counterpart to the rest of the firm.

Not perfect, but this episode had me hooked from start to finish.

is michael sheen actually gerard butler
howboutthisone_huh10 January 2021
I love this show but michael sheen's persona and accent, I guess as a midwesterner is exceedingly annoying. It sounds like he's channeling gerard butler playing a new yorker, or pittsburghian. . Why is it annoying? Well, for one, it's because they sound almost identical but I can't remember the movie that gerard butler was in and did with the same affect. btw, butler is from scotland and sheen is from wales. I don't know where they got their impersonation from.

Blum is Horrible. He's like a Punch in the face.
GothamVip15 May 2024
The Blum Character is so bad I can't believe they didn't stop him. It is like a horrible punch in the face every time he comes on screen. Why did this actor, who is normally very good, decide to do a horrible Al Pacino imitation? One can only guess.

The real question is, where the hell was the director and why didn't he stop him??. (This character sucked when Al Pacino did him and he is Al Pachino)

In the 80s I had seen a British TV show where they had a Brit playing an American. It was hilarious the way the English actor combined a Southern, Brooklyn, and Boston accent so each sentence he spoke sounded like he was from some other region of the country. This guy, who is a brit, I guess just watched scent of a woman 30 times and went with that.

Every show is a gem
fiona-tamburrini8 June 2019
People seem to have turned on series 3 judging by the reviews which is unfortunate because I think it's top class drama with a slick of clever humour.

Michael Sheen is in the show to be a specific type of character, it's says do on the title in case people didn't understand. But if you're not interested in American politics then I can see why series 3 is not your thing. But I love it all and I like how they cleverly they use their storylines to inform the viewer about processes and policies. I often wonder if Trump has watched the show. He should be shaking in his boots.

It's Meant to Be Chaotic and Grimly Entertaining
brooks25023 May 2019
Given the bad reviews for this episode, I was tempted to skip it. I'm so glad I didn't. Yes, this episode is crazy and unrealistic in many ways. But Robert and Michelle King are trying to make a point: This is what happens to a sane, orderly institution, in this case, a Cook County Courtroom, when it's invaded by the chaos and immorality of Trumpism (e.g. birtherism and so far in the White House 10,000 lies and counting) in the guise of Blum, a Roy Cohen protegee. So, yes, this episode is all about Trump, in both overt and covert ways. And as a work of satire, it hits the ball out of the park. The Kings have created an artifact for future generations to watch and wonder: What was going on then to inspire this crazy episode? Some have complained about the Roy Cohen cartoon. I thought it was great with my only complaint being that it failed to mention that this horrible excuse for a human being was ultimately disbarred in 1986 for lying and stealing client funds.

The show took a nose dive with this episode.
PuckerFactor21 March 2019
What happened? The first episode of season 3 was good and looked promising for the rest of the season. This episode was hard to watch. Michael Sheen's character is absurd and over-the-top, the court scenes are ludicrous and cringe-worthy. His character is annoying in a really bad way.. His Bronx or Brooklyn accent is also iffy (I'm English and even I can spot it). I got the impression that the swearing was amped up for maximum effect but I think it back-fired. Sometimes less is more. This is the second episode in a row with a childish musical animation...Stop it already!

Michael Sheen channeling...
sevenhorseshoes22 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Al Pacino to appeal to a jury wishing for their fav hollywood lawyer is brilliant. A nice touch.

I don't know if this was Sheen's idea, but it was funny. It might've been a BIT better if he started as a Pacino "... and justice for all." knock off and changed to either an younger moe recent Hollywood lawyer caricature to apeal to a younger jury response. But, hilarious non the less. One of the best TV shows ever.

Worst performance by Michael Sheen ever
undonet23 March 2019
I can't believe they replaced Justin Bartha by Sheen! They took ruined the soundest storyline (Lucca and Colin) and we got the hideous Blum instead! The character is ridiculously out of place and overacted. Lucca's monologue is the best part of the whole episode! Her storyline is the only thing worth watching. I am really disappointed Colin is not in the show though.

this episode is funny and so is the whining about it
arenasrosa29 April 2021
Michael Sheen is a first rate actor and he's delivered the goods in his first appearance as a character whose mentor is Roy Cohn -- one of America's true villains.

The Good Fight continues in presenting well researched, well acted and greatly entertaining and surprising dramedy.

Disappointing
Veritas9921 March 2019
This is my favourite show, but this is the second episode with a horrible cartoon....apart of that, the whole episode was a parody, a grotesque show with that co-counsel Bloom. Maybe the writers have run off of ideas, but pushing this show into burlesque area doesn't do it any good.

The Blum character ruined this season for me
PonchosMom14 July 2020
Huge fan of the show but the Blum character has completely ruined the season for me. I'll continue to watch it and just hope it gets better by season 4.

Horrible
itaylor-5066524 March 2019
This show should be transferred from CBS to the Comedy Channel. It used t be the best show going. With Series 3 it's become a joke. I'm through watching it. And, they need to send Michael Sheen packing!

Michael Sheen (wishing he was Al Pacino, I guess. How else to explain that horrible performance) as Roland Blum was WAY more than I could stomache. That was absolutely AWFUL. Wow. Who let that abomination out?

Send Michael Sheen home and get rid of the cartoons
privacygeek26 August 2019
What an immensely annoying episode. The worst so far. Michael Sheen performance was the worst I have seen from an actor in a very long time. The storyline was so bad, it hurt. And to top it all off, they show another ridiculous "Barney-like" cartoon. Come on, you can de better than this, you've had 2 other great seasons.... continue with Sheen's character and the cartoons and the show will definitely lose a lot of viewers like myself...

Michael Sheen - just horrible
marty-22028 March 2019
I concur with all the previous reviews. What a horrible addition to what was a really wonderful show before they decided to write in this character. I predict the Michael Sheen's character and ridiculously over-the-top performance will drive away a lot of viewers. It has done so for me.

Are there new writers??
kayandthewolf7 July 2022
Wow! How can such a good show take such a dive?

Sure it's political, and that would be okay without the absolutely ridiculous cartoons and unbelievable characters.

Is this a comedy central show? Looking forward to Pete Davidson joining as a lead prosecutor!

Fire the writers! This is awful!

Leave Trump out of the show please!
barracudabay7822 March 2019
I tune in to watch Diane play a smart lawyer with great cases. This show is bombing fast with the stupid cartoons and silly stupid references to the Trump family. Michael Sheen's addition to the cast is fine but take out all the swearing please! And Maia RIndill needs to speak in whole sentences - why is her delivery in the court so choppy? It's horrid acting. I love this show but it will bomb fast if this stupidness persists. Get back to the basics with good legal cases and smart lawyers. Use Marissa more and definitely Lucca as a smart tough lawyer.

Hideous

Never rated Michael Sheen and he lived up to my expectations.

Why do we get songs part way through? Too much dumbing down for my liking.

Definitely nose diving this series.

OK - Enough is Enough!
mharah25 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This series, spinning off from the sublime series, "The Good Wife", has made its politics obvious from the beginning. They don't like Trump - I get it. But the dislike of Trump doesn't seem to have anything much to do with the core of the show, which is litigation amid intra-firm contentiousness. Nobody should be surprised to find a hotshot law firm in Chicago whose partners and associates don't like Trump; it is a growing surprise to see a pivotal partner in that firm - already established as a brilliant attorney who regularly demonstrates her ability to argue the law irrespective of her own politics - becoming increasingly unhinged when her renowned Republican husband even uses the word "trump" casually. And then she apparently goes to a great length to secretly record Republican conversations at a cocktail party/GOP fundraiser - strictly illegal in Illinois and an offense for which she could be disbarred. (How did she even get in? She's an outspoken liberal Democrat.) I find this series continues to be brilliant, but let's get back to the core narration. And that's not Donald Trump.

I'm done
chas-mundy7723 March 2022
Screw this show. I must stsrt off with that I am conservative. Not heavy but there. I know Hollywood is to the left but this show takes it to the stratosphere. It goes beyond mere politics and takes it to a personal level. Meaning the attacks on Donald Trump. This is my first time watching this show after enjoying The Good Wife. Why doesn't this show take on the gun violence and murders in Chicago instead of whether Trump payed for an abortion, or this attorney can't have the job because he helped prep Bret Kavanaugh.

Awful
joereporterrsa20 April 2019
I was a fan of the Good Wife until it became political (mostly in the last season) and I enjoyed the Good Fight up until the end of season 2. Terrible cartoons, Trump bashing, Leisure Suit Larry as a lawyer and Maia the spineless. What's with all the swearing?? If I wanted to see what it's actually like in an office situation I'd stay at work. You might not think this but not every viewer is from the US. I love courtroom dramas but this was one of the worst court room TV episodes I ever watched.
