It's Meant to Be Chaotic and Grimly Entertaining
23 May 2019
Given the bad reviews for this episode, I was tempted to skip it. I'm so glad I didn't. Yes, this episode is crazy and unrealistic in many ways. But Robert and Michelle King are trying to make a point: This is what happens to a sane, orderly institution, in this case, a Cook County Courtroom, when it's invaded by the chaos and immorality of Trumpism (e.g. birtherism and so far in the White House 10,000 lies and counting) in the guise of Blum, a Roy Cohen protegee. So, yes, this episode is all about Trump, in both overt and covert ways. And as a work of satire, it hits the ball out of the park. The Kings have created an artifact for future generations to watch and wonder: What was going on then to inspire this crazy episode? Some have complained about the Roy Cohen cartoon. I thought it was great with my only complaint being that it failed to mention that this horrible excuse for a human being was ultimately disbarred in 1986 for lying and stealing client funds.
