Psycho killer
bosporan12 May 2022
A slower episode filling some gaps, but opening new plot holes. Some of what goes on does not quite make sense in the context of the story. I am liking Stormfront played with attitude and confidence by Aya Cash, she might give Homelander a run for his money going forward.

A Train Hole?
limerickracecourse5 September 2020
Can't let the A Train plot hole go. Starlights blackmailing is so not plausible it's taking from an excellent series. He only has to tell Homelander the truth about PopClaw and it's problem solved.

Kimiko: Year One
maxglen4 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A much more character focused episode, mostly playing into Kimiko and her backstory. Starlight gets some time to shine as well (pun intended) and Butcher tells the Boys where his loyalties lie. I'd say a decent 8/10

Enjoying the Universe
injury-6544710 September 2020
People seem to be somewhat down on this episode. I can admit maybe it's a bit slower than other episodes but I really enjoyed the story and characters.

We get great moments of humour. I feel it does a great job of setting up intrigue for future plot points. Overall it's really solid.

Slow development with this episode.
cruise017 September 2020
3 out of 5 stars.

Slow episode with a lot of exposition with the characters. Butcher trying to find his wife. Starlight and Stormfront bud heads with what there attentions are with Vought. A Train is onto Starlight. A lot of moving pieces and characters but nothing happening with this episode.

Thank you Butcher
BoulosSoueileh5 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I'm starting to hate hughie, the hate for Butcher has crossed the line and like I said in the review of the first episode we are getting bored of DEEP story. Great catch for stormfront and starlight, The moment between father and son was extraordinary we see a new side of homelander but without leaving his real character behind. It's like you hate him so much but you the moment with his son, and yes Becca didn't you think before about all the questions the kid may ask, some plots are missing I wish they fulfill it in the next episodes. And thank you butcher for hitting hughie.

Phenomenal Show, Blah Episode
kdiamond66626 July 2021
Stormfront is a contrived cliche in a show full of interesting characters. Someone should have rethought this awful character. She not only doesn't fit in, there is no build up or explanation of her character, there also is no coherence as to why she has no rules applied to her. Terrible character.

Intrigue
Leofwine_draca13 April 2022
Another solid episode, with a good mix: introducing new characters, shaking up the old ones, a lot of drama, characterisation and intrigue. Really enjoying this so far.

Woke up from my sleep.
eldreddsouza7 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly I want to give this episode a 10/10 for putting me to sleep, but also one needs to be fair with his IMDB ratings. Okay jokes aside, I'll get straight to the point. This was the most boring episode of the show till date. The heroes are getting just dumber and dumber with each passing episode. Deep- Mindnumbingly stupid. Starlight: Never thought she would be so dumb with the whole cmpd V thingy, etc. A-Train: The Karen of the boys. And Queen Meave: I don't even know what she's up to. Stormfront: Seemed cool at first but turned out to be really annoying. At this point it just feels like lazy writing. Only Homelander's scenes were fun at this point, his interactions with his son and confrontation with his boss. I don't know where this show is heading, but let's wait and see... The ratings for the next episode gives some hope.

Another Great Episode
theoledoux25 September 2020
We get more story in this episode than anything else. It's a slow one but I'd much rather have slow episodes in the beginning and have them ramp up the intensity as the season goes. The otherway around would not leave a good taste in my mouth. We learn the identity (although predictable) of the mysterious "Super-Terrorist" with telekinesis. Butcher is back...

Is Butcher captain Sparrow?
maarten_kos5 September 2020
I don't know if it is Karl Urbans actual kiwi accent, but he sounds more like Jack Sparrow then the first season. I love Stormfront and as said before the Deep sidestory is not neccesary.

Blackmail galore!!!
panskpd19 September 2020
One of the slowest and most boring episodes so far. Blackmailing is essential for the plot to advance and it's really getting old. Every time something important needs to happen, one of "The boys" gets ahold of someone's secret or a video to blackmail with and advance the plot. It was clever at first, now it's just getting lazy and predictable

Solid follow up to the premiere
ninjaboyballer5 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode, while not quite as solid as the premiere, still has its moments. Now one of the reasons why it's not as good for me as the premiere is because I feel like Butcher wasn't as good as he could have been, although that scene where he pleads for them to help save his wife made up for that a lot. And because the Deep's storyline was a bit too weird with his imaginative talking gills. Like the CGI for them is cool but I found it to be a bit too cartoonish. However the thought that the gills put in his head about his treatment of women was interesting. But anyways with all that out of the way some of the really good parts of the episode for me was Homelander and his interactions with Becca and her son (his son as well). I found that we got to see a part of him that we haven't seen with anyone else when he opens up slightly to his son. And the scenes with him and Becca were really intense and the actress did a good job on her part showing the fear in her eyes. Another part of the episode that I might have loved even better was the tension between Hughie and Butcher. Now even though I said I didn't think Butcher was as good as he could have been, his little bits with Hughie were standouts and they're friendship is starting to get heated. I can't wait to see where they go. I also really like Annie's bits with Stormfront and A-Train (though I kinda find it convenient that he happened to come to and show up on the show that Annie was on when they asked about him), with Stormfront being a breath of fresh air to Annie as well as A-Train having a close eye on her from afar that might put her in harms way.

Overall not as good as the premiere but still solid enough with building up feuds and having character moments

Final rating: 8.6/10

Character focused and slow
shwetafabm9 September 2020
Not much happens. Has too many characters with stories that just don't matter to the plot. Qveen Maeve especially. The Deep's part was weird but not in a good way. This show has way too much blackmailing as a solution, doesn't even quite work in this instance.

You are So Beautiful to me
jdmltd20 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This show is always over the top... but the scene with Kevin (The Deep) and his Gills (perfectly voiced by Patton Oswalt) duetting You are So Beautiful is certain to be a top ten scene from this season.

This show never seems to surprise me, until the next episode. As a 30+year comic fan, seeing it taken to this level is refreshing. While I love my Avengers, and Justice League, I hope that if they were as ever as rotten as the Seven, I hope there are Boys for them too.

Tell, Don't Show
Gislef5 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
If the episode features such a big focus on Kimiki, I'd like to know what her and her brother Kenji are _saying_. Yes, having her sign and him speak in a non-American language is a cute directorial/writing touch. But don't do it at the expense of storytelling, folks.

The rest of the episode was okay. It basically set up this season's quest: Billy trying to get Becca back, and Homelander being a creepy psychopath. It seems mildly shortsighted of Billy to not anticipate that Becca went into hiding for a reason. But Billy ain't the most long-sighted guy in the world, either.

So far, it's not clear why Vought lets Stormfront bad mouth them. Then again, she doesn't seem to criticize them much, either. We'll find out more about Stormfront in episode 3, but right now her loyalties are unclear.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. What do you think?

Psycho Killer? Qu'est que c'est???
wandernn1-81-68327411 August 2021
I do love the title of this episode. With Butcher back in the arena, the Team, has some new options.

Homelander visits his SON.

We establish that EVERYONE LOVES FRESCA.

Billy leads the Team on a mission against the Shining Liberation Army. Kimiko reunites with her brother.

Oh I like this new addition of STORMFRONT to The Seven. She's a good character so she probably won't last long.

Kimiko and her brother have a disagreement. And the Team has a slight falling out as they start to remediate that situation. 8/10.

starting to fast forward the boring parts
nerrdrage5 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Okay I'm really starting to get bored of everyone but the Seven. The new so-called super terrorist and his nonverbal sister are completely uninteresting.

Starlight is still the star of the show. Homelander is great when he isn't involved in his boring domestic drama with Butcher's wife. I can see why Butcher would care about it, but why should the viewers?

The. Scientology-inspired religious cult angle is strange but it's okay. Delving into the Deep's deep-seated body issues is actually good. He's getting some development, vs A-Train, who seems to just be a plot convenience to threaten Starlight.

Stormfront is an interesting addition, a feminist ally of Starlight perhaps? Yet she seems to side with Homelander a bit too much for comfort.

S2.E2 - Decent Episode [8.2/10]
panagiotis199322 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S2. E2) My Reaction / Review for The Boys Season 2 Episode 2 ''Proper Preparation and Planning'': Episode 1 was good and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. It seems like they recast Homelander's son. Homelander's son has never used compound V so I don't understand why he has powers. I guess he has powers because Homelander has powers? The Deep is having a brutal existential crisis, its kinda sad. So we have a new superhero called Stormfront and she is pretty interesting. Damn, Kimiko's brother is very powerful. Overall a really good episode, my rating is 8.2/10.

Why?
GraXXoR2 February 2022
With all the top notch Japanese actors who CAN SPEAK JAPANESE would they go to all the trouble to hire someone who clearly DOESN'T HAVE A FKKN CLUE how to speak Japanese play a Japanese person?

He doesn't look Japanese, doesn't sound Japanese.. He isn't Japanese.

Also, not feeling the beef between Butcher and Huey... Feels contrived af.

Just meh, blackmail made no sense.
hmnz-09313 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand why A-train would fall for starlights blackmail? He could of easily restrained her and then got homelander before she would get a chance to leak the information. Plus theres no evidence of A-train even having a relationship with his gf or that he did it. Also abit over blackmail being used as the get out of jail card every time.

Rest of the episode was really slow, and i don't get the in fighting, or why butcher wouldn't just tell his team about his wife the first time.

Need some better writing.

I wasn't as entertained by this episode as the premiere.
LegendaryFang563 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was less entertained while watching this episode than I was while watching the premiere. And I think that's a bad thing. The premiere felt slow, but I was sufficiently entertained. This episode felt like nothing happened - no progression or hardly any, that sort of thing - and I wasn't as entertained. If I'm entertained more while watching this episode, that would mean I'd become invested in the season a little faster. Usually, it takes a few episodes for that to happen - with any show, I think. I mean, there are probably shows that I'll end up watching sooner or later that will take fewer episodes for that to happen.

This show, specifically, or rather - this season, isn't going to be like that, I feel like, which is why I think it's a bad thing that I wasn't as entertained or more entertained while watching this episode as I was with the premiere. It means that I won't become as invested in the season as I would've liked.

Preferably, I would like to be invested enough with what I'm watching to where it's on my mind, frequently and consistently - and to where it's always brought back to my imagination, in some way, as quickly into the season as possible. And I think watching an episode every other day with a day in-between of not watching an episode is good, in general, and mentally, and should help with that desire of mine as well.

Now, I'd like that to start happening around the second or third episode, at minimum. But I feel like, in this case, it may not start happening until after the third episode, which worries me. Oh, and if it wasn't obvious already, I don't think it is happening yet, not with this episode. Anyway, I hope that despite it possibly happening in a few more episodes and not the next episode, I'll still find watching this season as enjoyable as it is.

Moving on, a theory of mine that I thought of yesterday happened to be true, which I was a bit surprised by. I wish I thought of it the day before, as I was writing my thoughts about the premiere so I could've added it. Basically, I thought of two theories about what The Female/Kimiko was trying to tell Frenchie after finding that origami figure near the boat in the premiere.

A.) She figured out that the Supe(r)villain is a kid

or

b.) The origami figure that she found was something that her brother did, suggesting that the Supe(r)villain is her brother

I figured that the first theory wouldn't make much sense, given how she cared so much about trying to tell Frenchie something. And with this episode, that was proven to be true, along with my second theory being true as well. The more I think about it, the more predictable that "twist" seems to be, you know? Granted, it was entirely by luck that I thought of it, but still. Regardless, I was a bit proud of myself for calling it.

Annie's playing with fire. Sure, good for her and all that for being brave and taking Stormfront's advice, and whatnot, but she's playing with fire. A-Train has no reason not to rat her out with how she has some Compound V to the higher-ups at Vought along with other things. I know that there's the fact that he killed Popclaw - and, yeah. That's seemingly more than enough reason not to.

But I feel like that's not enough, and maybe not anything at all. Homelander knew about it. Furthermore, he's the reason A-Train did it, right? And that was related to Homelander's plan to create Supe(r)villains, which Stan is aware of, as proven in the premiere. If it weren't for Homelander, A-Train never would've killed her. I think he truly loved her. Or am I misremembering things?

I get that Homelander isn't necessarily apart of this specific picture, in that Annie wouldn't go to him with that information, or Vought, for that matter. She said it herself. She's smart enough to know that it wouldn't matter if she brought that to Homelander or Vought. But why does she think that bringing it to Sports Illustrated will be any better? Vought probably has spies throughout every company, news outlet, and so on. Not to mention, they must be smart enough to keep enough tabs on what their heroes do to where she'd never get that information to them in the first place.

Anyway, that's all I can think of to write for this episode. I don't think it was a bad episode, but I wasn't as entertained while watching it as I was with the premiere. But this is only the second episode of the season. I'm sure it's going to increase in the entertainment category.

draggy episode,
RetroRick6 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So far I've found this series to really drag. The first series shaped up so beautifully that I found myself thinking about it even after it ended & that despite the fact I'm not that keen on the genre. This time round the hour long episodes seem to just go on & as yet the drama is shaping up pretty slowly.

Homelander is as good as ever & still as psychopathically nuanced as ever, capable of a sudden explosion of cruelty or destruction at any moment but butcher doesn't do it for me & may take another few series before I'm used to his cockney accent. As for the others A-train is good, the Deep is annoying, & only Starlight really works to hold the narrative together.

The feminism in this episode is grating. Queen Mauve is back emoting with her ex-girlfriend, whose existence exists here to amplify that Homelander isn't just a psychopath, he's also male, oppressive & controlling. In this world woman to woman relationships are the tenderness that omnipresent threat of male brutality threatens.

This brings us to Stormfront. Super-sassy, takes no sh** from anyone, speaks her mind, lectures us about swedish "feminist" superhero Pippi Longstocking, before advising Starlight that the next time someone randomly stick a d*** in her mouth she should bite it off.

The only good thing in this episode is Homelander & his son. Just imagine having homelander as your dad. You'd have no hope. Either he'd train you up to be a worse psychopath than him or you'd be in therapy (or hospital) for the rest of your life. Literally, I am only watching this at the moment because of a) Homelander, b) Gus Fring or whatever his name is now & c) because I know episode 3 currently has a 9.6 rating, & things could be about to get more interesting. They'd better
