Goldfaced is not Goldfinger and Face/off!
asb_deutsch7 February 2019
Never thought I would be reviewing this episode as the first person! PROS: Nice to see Iris utilizing her skills instead of groaning and whining (finally!). This episode may look like Star Wars light-sabers but still show that superheroes don't need superpowers to fight the evildoers!

CONS: The last 5 minutes of the movie depicting the search was absolutely unnecessary and it could have been done better!

VERDICT: My ratings (based on what I marked on IMDb): Season 1: 200/23 = 8.69; Season 2: 193/23= 8.23; Season 3: 188/23= 8.17; Season 4: 146/23= 6.65 and Season 5= 92.5/13 = 7.12 (This episode = 8/10)

Undercover
paultapner23 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This week: Some insight into Norah's motivation. And she has to Put Sherlocqu off the scent. A solid plot line, with the only bit of slightly unnecessary comedy of the week. But it does have a more powerful pay off than you would expect.

Iris tries to be a good reporter. And has to get tough. And does. Where has this character been all this time! Finally written as she should be.

Ralph and Barry go undercover to move the main plot along. Rather than a story of the week. Which is good. They face the old green lantern foe from his comics goldface. Who was in Flash comics for a bit more recently, but.. quite a successful go at making him work for tv. Both face predictable moral dilemmas. But this strand manages to have far more edge to it than you would expect. It grabs as a result and it really works.

So a good episode which manages to be tough when you didn't think it could. Season still struggling to fit everyone in though, as still no Joe and it's cisco who goes missing this week. Not that I mind the later. But a good one all in all.

Different concept but fun.

(3 out of 5 stars)

It was nice to see Barry and Ralph team up in undercover detective style to the Goldface character. There was a fun shoot out action scene. And a cliche direction with Iris figuring out how to stop Cicada.

Pretty good

I didn't think this episode would be as good as it was. Iris is finally doing what she's suppose to be doing again. Those last 15 minutes were also really awesome.

The Flash did the unthinkable...
jaythezoomster12 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
"Memorabilia" was a solid episode and easily one of the best of the season and "Goldfaced" proved to follow in its footsteps equally well.

The episode once again utilizes its cast very well and every plot works tremendously well.

Barry and Ralph's storyline is great and it continues to build the two in a great direction that I didn't expect. I loved seeing Ralph work as the "tough guy" even going as far to lock Barry in a truck so he didn't have to get his hands dirty. Goldface himself is a super fun villain and a welcome addition to the rogues gallery (if he's alive enough to return).

Nora and Sherloque's plot also worked exceptionally well as we finally get to see more of her and Thawne's conversations. Seeing Thawne work through getting Sherloque off her back was great especially considering how dangerously close he got in the previous episode, and the introduction of Irene Adler is a fun enough twist on normal Shakespearean lore that I'll allow it for now. All together, this plot is probably the weakest but it's still exceptionally well done.

Now, in reference to my title, the Flash really did do the unthinkable; it made me care about Cicada again. Iris' plot in this episode involved talking to Orlin Dwyer out of suit, without the dagger and it was great. It finally gave me something new to see in Cicada after "Seeing Red" was gave me no reason to believe he should be around as Thawne was. It showed that Dwyer is just as intimidating out of the suit as he is in the suit and it was an incredible change of pace to a villain who I was beginning to think could drop to the level of Devoe if they weren't careful.

"Goldfaced" is a great episode that is just made even greater by balancing all three of its plots exceptionally well and making me really get excited for its main villain Cicada again. I hope they can keep Cicada's momentum up as he's getting back to what I loved in the first half of the season.

This episode is shot in a way that has a very different tone than all the other ones so far. I really like the ralph/barry part and the iris/cicada too. The dialogue isn't as cliche as usual too. Very interesting.

Laughable and terrible writing
Diegoandres_cortes6 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Seriously no one is gonna address the idiotic logic behind this episode?

Alright, the concept is good with a detective feeling for Iris, and also Barry/Ralph. It's fresh and interesting. However, this episode belongs in the trashcan due to lazy and dumb writing, can someone please spot the terrible flaws of this episode logic?

1- Barry and Ralph both are aware of a 'hidden' (secret?) operation that gathers criminals to sell guns and other illegal stuff. That's already absurd dude given the fact that later we find out those are very sci-fi guns that could kill anyone with one hit. I guess I'll let this one slip?

2- He comes up with an alter ego that is a criminal, very convincing for these criminals. However, he now asks for a favor in exchange of the Neuro-thingy (am I supposed to remember it's name? they didn't even retrieve it at the end of the episode duh). They want Barry and Ralph to help them rob a 3-d printer from a lab. So... turns out they wanted them as a backup and they didn't really needed them since they already had like 20 other criminals using guns, so what do they need the backup for?

3- The building is EMPTY MY LORD, why do they even need reinforcements then????? There's literally nobody in the lab, they can just walk in and take the damn printer.

4- Police is not aware of these events? They left everyone in the building and they didn't have the printer outside of the building? Why are they putting these very dangerous weapons in the trashcan? WTF?

Lazy ass writing and it's honestly damn poetry to ignorance.

I'd have written it different. They can just make Ralph and Barry actually work their way through the lab security and personal to steal the printer, so later that night the Flash can get 'tipped off' that some idiot stole a printer and he can get it back and get everyone arrested with the help of the CCPD and dismantle this criminal operation, LOL

A laser game episode...
malcomturner-191218 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Another episode of The Flash which sounds like a waste of time. It brings almost nothing new to the main storyline of this season. It is badly written to say the least.

Iris stabbing Cicada with a knife looks not believable and makes no sense at all. Cicada was portrayed as invincible since the beginning of the season and now looks weaker than ever...

The assembly with Sherloque Wells' ex-wives is no better than a soap opera. The introduction of comic elements is irrevelant again and starts to be really annoying in this tv show. It also brings lot of paradoxes. Curiously, Eobard Thawne who has minutes to live finds plenty of time to advice Nora how to entertain Sherloque with a love romance...

The Flash and Elongated Man fighting Goldface with laser guns and the way they defeated him look like a bad video game. We have yet to see this season how The Flash's powers will evolve, what kind of new transformations or abilities he will acquire through his confrontations with villains. Instead the producers decide here to strip him of his powers and there are too many episodes where the Flash uses the same power again and again like he has reached his own limits.

This show has become too family friendly up to the point that it lost a good part of its dramatic intensity and its interest all together. The first three seasons were the most interesting by a large margin. I wish the show returns to its old roots.

Wtf is with Nora?
Ceredon112 February 2019
I'm honestly not trying to be mean or offensive, but I have to ask this...why did they write this character so dumb? I mean, she actually seems like she might have a disability.

I get that her parents are both supposed be imbeciles, but couldn't they written Nora's character with even a partially functioning frontal lobe?

JESSICA PARKER KENNEDY IS THE WORST ACTRESS IMO
the_skywalker00010 January 2020
JESSICA PARKER KENNEDY playing Nora is probably the worst actress I've ever seen. Flash at this point is just a Soap opera Filled with nonsensical Bs. If not a hardcore DC lover.. I would have quit this show long ago.

Ranking/Reviewing every Flash episode: Goldfaced
lbramson16 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Omg! How did it possibly get any worse?! Barry and Ralph are forced to work with Goldface. It sucks. The main plotline is bad with an awful villain: Daddy Goldface, but that doesn't quite scrape the bottom of the barrel like the others. Iris defeats Cicada with a kitchen knife and pepper spray. Excuse me?! Normal human defeated meta serial killer with pepper spray?! Who is writing the garbage? But that's nothing compared to the dreaded wives of Sherloque which is a Council of Wells ripoff. Oh the humanity! 😱

Reasons why Council of Wells is funny and Wives of Sherloque are not:

1: Wells is a character we care about, unlike Sherloque's wife.

2: The Council of Wells felt distinct from each other 3: Council of Wells played around with a concept that was worth exploring 4: The Council had an actual impact on the greater overarching story 5: The Council interacted with characters we were invested with in funny, quirky ways 6: Council of Wells came before in a better, more comedy centered season, so it's better by default 7: I remember the Council of Wells

Terrible/Grown enducing cringe

3.6/10-aRrOwCurSe Episode!
