Excellent Beginning!!
leestoych18 August 2019
A superb start the season 2. We really see how fragile Holden is at the moment due to his interaction with Kemper last season and how it's affecting those around him. Great acting. The acting and directing is once again top notch. The first scene of this episode was terrifying and am excited to see where that story arc continues. The shows dark mood is portrayed throughout the episode, especially in the beginning and the end of the episode. Looking forward to episode 2.

Can't deny Fincher
benjaminchristopher5 November 2019
I was late coming back to season 2 of Mindhunter, mainly because of personal things you don't want to hear about- but here I am reviewing it now! Season 2- episode 1 sucks you straight back into the gloomy (unfortunately based upon true) world of Mindhunter. I couldn't resist but do my research as I noticed the way the camera moves and it's camera filter tones- that of course, David Fincher is back to direct the opening episodes! His style is just unmissable, from the way the camera moves and feels, make you also feel that way as well. Top scores to everyone on board as well! The main cast are back shining in their respected roles.

Memorable
mm-3917 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Memorable! Iceman Holden breaks and has a panic attack, while Bill has to cover for Holden with a new Boss. There is a shake up old thinking dies and new management pushes forward. From interviews with pen and paper to a budget for a new division at B S U. What works here is the Bill and Holden dynamic. Bill keeps the unit together and Holden is pushing the envelope with new investigation techniques. What drags the viewer into the story is that Holden must keep it together while Bill covers for him as the new Boss expects result. The viewer gets taken into a car wreck of a bubbling stew. Well written, directed and acted. Worth watching! 7 or 8 stars.

Moves at breakneck speed.
jaskunwar99316 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I am stunned! Unlike the start of the previous season, this one moves at a startling speed. You've barely had time to gasp, and then you're quite literally choking by the end of it (you'll know what I mean when you watch it). Spectacular storyline, spectacular writing, spectacular scenes, spectacular filmmaking, spectacular performances (the guy who plays Holden is a genius)... just simply spectacular.

This seems to be a stunning season, and a stunning reason... to believe that great things are coming.

Netflix should put this kind of tv shows as standard
yozips18 August 2019
Stunning in every way. It is a shame to see that many other Netflix shows are so bad this one seems like a miracle. This must be shown to some producers that throw a load of money on the first script they find. Learn some, ladies and gentlemen and work harder.

I Almost Forgot This Series
Hitchcoc25 January 2020
I was taken in by Season 1 and wondered if it would go on. This first episode gets us right back in the game. While there are no suspects yet, we are reintroduced to the main characters, minus one who is on his way out. Ford is as messed up as ever in his humorless, dull being. But we find out early that he is dealing with something unexpected. Excellent.

Had to change my underwear after the end of this episode

This episode is what you want from a new season. Pick up where it left, make little twist, a few bigger ones and a huge one that makes you fall from your chair.

Twist ending didn't make sense
dfrankel-204741 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The acting and directing was excellent as always. However, I felt that the end did not make sense. Shepard claims he was forced out because of Holden's behavior. However, in his retirement ceremony he was praised mainly for helping to found the BSU. Moreover, the BSU's new overseer - Asst. Director Gunn - clearly approves of Holden's unorthodox techniques. And if the team's lies to the OPR investigators enough to force an assistant director to retire, then why does Gunn think he can make the investigation "go away"?

I also noticed that in S2E2, the other story lines continue (including those involving Holden) with no reference to Holden's encounter with Shepard. If we are to take the scene seriously, why is it business as usual in S2E2? (Perhaps they will return to it later.)

Great Continuation
diehls-0802720 October 2019
....hmmmm, I'm distracted by Anna Torv's awful makeup. She looks like she has jaundice... or some politician's tanning bed.

Seamless
Calicodreamin1 January 2021
A good seamless transition from season one, all players returned and storyline picked right up. Character dynamic has shifted, but it works. Kind of like to see Holden get a bit of his come-up-ins.

Not a good start
prizm420 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Do we really have to have ANOTHER show/movie illustrating the stupid and extremely dangerous practice shown in the opening scene of Season 2, Ep. 1? Writers, please think about your large number of viewers. Have some integrity and thought about the effect that this sensitive material will have or can cause.

Anyway, for the first couple of episodes it feels like everyone is trying to say their lines as fast as they can. Is there a race to the end credits? Have the director and editor heard about realistic pacing? There's hardly room for genuine pause for thought or emotion.

Once again we have the tired hollywood fad of the obnoxious female character. You know the type that's in all the shows these days: the smug know-it-all female that always has a cold, sneering response to every other male character. Oh, and of course we have to give her the lesbian story arc, because of social justice and whatnot. Nevermind that it seems rather anachronistic.

Anyway, the show does start getting interesting again after the first couple episodes, but we'll see how it all stands up. The connections to real life events help make it interesting.

interesting season 2
AvionPrince1612 February 2022
A nice episode with some events that make us want to watch until the end. We know more about the state of Holden and see the consequences of his acts. New office, new character, new season. Still some good investigation of the criminal minds. Very nice.

Panic or Manic
serrakiper22 August 2019
It's a little bit uninspiring. It was disconnected. Characters are lost and the subject is closed easily.

Excellent But What is up with the phone ???
mdekker-662-92800617 August 2019
I like this series a lot. I was so excited to start season 2 but really, why is there a phone ringing literally every 20 seconds in every office scene? I couldn't bear it anymore, skipped to ep 2 and guess what, a phone that just doesn't stop ringing. My god

Episode 201
bobcobb30129 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It wasn't a bad start to the new season, but they could have cut about 20 minutes of this episode and not lost a thing. Way too long and with the show's signature slow pace that is the making of a bad combination.

I like this show, but it took halfway through the first season to truly get going. If this episode is any indication we are in for the same thing this year.
