It's not bad... but it's go time

We've been pretty patient with this slow season-it's time to give us something new! It's been the same plot each time. I'm trying to have faith in this show. I'm not giving up yet :)

Unlike the previous episodes I just couldn't feel into it. Although I liked all the scenes, I find some rather ridiculous like I couldn't help myself laughing in the dance scene for no reason. And June getting away without any punishments idk for how many times now? C'mon it's Gilead, people are hung because they let a baby cry. She should have at least got something for trying to see Hannah. I hope next episodes satisfy all of us :/

Where is the resistance?

The season started off well and is slowly going down hill, even though I still love the story and hope that the latter part of the season will prevail. We've been promised a resistance from season one but it's always one step forward and two steps back. The writers need to decide where they want to take it, and take it there quick to keep viewers attention.

The cinematography and acting are all 10 stars, but the story line needs to be fixed as soon as possible.

This episode was a slow buildup to yet another one of June's selfish actions gone wrong. Am I the only person who despises June ? She is exactly what Commander Lawrence said about her being a spoiled child who wants everything. She DOES NOT think before she acts ... EVER ! She was a manipulative b**ch before Gilead and she remains to be one. I feel sorry for poor Emily and Lawrence's wife. It's a toss up of who I loathe more, June or Serena. OfGeorge needs to be kicked in her teeth. This season has been 70% filler and 30% actual story with every episode so far.

The show still has my interest, but are they going somewhere with this? This season just feels like the characters going to their catchphrases and not giving us any genuine storytelling.

Surprising

I thought at first that this episode wasn't really interesting. But I'm the end, when June is grabbing OfMatthew, the other handmaids quickly forming a circle around them so that other loyal to Gilead cant see what's happening.

It's a small detail, but I think somehow that made me love this episode.

Good episode. At this point I'm pretty done with June's decision making and the way she gets away with things. This season there have been a few story moments that have been pretty predictable. The pacing was also very slow again, which I don't really have anything against, although a lot of people don't seem to be too keen on it. I would prefer they pick up the pace a bit but it does mean more time is spent on character. Although ironically, I'm not all that interested in Serena right now. I liked the Canada scenes though. The protest was nice and relevant and it's nice seeing Emily's continued readjustment. The ending scene was pretty powerful, seeing June flip like that on boot licker handmaid. They've made a very hateful character with that one. I should say though that I'm not a fan of this music they keep chucking in, nor the constant close ups on June like a lot of people have mentioned

Please. People who are rating ANY episode of this show below 5 are clearly idiots. It's beautifully shot, the actors magnificent, the pace - controlled. Yes-it's slow. But 1/10? You're an idiot. I'm frustrated that morons are posting reviews. If you're bored with the show - STOP WATCHING. Go and watch the Fast and Furious movies. Don't give it a 1/10. Personally, I too am annoyed that it's not going anywhere and am giving up after this season. But still. It's beautifully done. There's just a lot of other shows I want to watch.

A Momentary Lull

Following the intense and gripping sixth episode, the seventh installment takes a step back, offering a momentary reprieve. I must confess, I found myself somewhat bored during this episode. While a slower pace can be effective when it serves the narrative, I didn't feel that was the case here; the episode felt a bit disjointed.

On one front, June continues her quest to reunite with Hannah, enlisting the help of Mrs. Lawrence. Their excursion to locate her daughter's school, guided by a Martha's tip, ends in failure. Unfortunately, the Martha pays the ultimate price at the hands of Ofmatthew, who later becomes June's victim in a shocking turn of events.

The episode lacks significant progression, and we find ourselves in a bit of a narrative standstill. I had hoped for a more prominent role for Emily, considering her background as a distinguished academic. She seems underutilized, confined to simple street protests when she could have been engaging in conferences or other impactful endeavors to prevent Nichole's repatriation.

On the other hand, the glimpse into the new temporary city of the Waterfords in Washington is intriguing, providing some additional insights into Gilead. However, the narrative development in this aspect is also sluggish.

While the episode is well-executed, it falls somewhat short of expectations. It maintains interest, but the overall impact is a tad disappointing, leaving viewers wanting more substantial advancement in the plot.

Things I liked: + Cinematography. Sometimes it can bore me to death, but now it surely had its moments. The hanging, the supermarket conversation at the fridges, and especially when June visited Hannah's school.

+ Emily's story. A wise choice to show how Gilead twists people and make their return to the "normal" world even harder. The fall-outs of Emily's actions hunt her in Canada / Little US even more than they did in Gilead. I would be really surprised if there would be any sort of happy ending for poor Emily.

+ The DC life. Finally, some glimpse in the everyday life of Gilead outside Boston. At home you get your finger cut for reading, because that's the law. In the capital wives can seemingly get away with - barely covered - adultery just fine.

+ The dust on the railing in the baptist house. Not a huge deal, but it was a nice detail.

The bad:

• The pacing. Really, the entire episode's plot could be concluded in about 20 minutes. June gets careless, her daughter is being taken away, and a Martha (and possibly Guardian Parker) is being killed due to her actions. Fred lies to Serena about Nicole and it gets them back together again. Emily feels the repercussions of her actions in Gilead. I can only second those reviews who say that this season will either make a flying start for the last 5 episodes, or will go down the drain entirely.

• Moira's script. She's as annoying as ever, but the "Canada should grow a pair" deserves special mention this time. Yup, it is that easy to stand up against the mad theocracy/dictatorship of Gilead, who probably has access to most of the US' military arsenal. All that from a mouth of a well-educated, intelligent girl, who had seen the place from the inside...

The REALLY bad --- June getting away with EVERYTHING. Right now she grew a plot armor rivaling in thickness with the one of Tyrion Lannister's. It is well established by now that Lawrence has a huge threshold toward misdeeds. Organized resistance? Just do it. Semi-openly defying the law? Sure thing! Conspiring? Homicide? Smuggling? Just keep it quiet, OK? The only thing one cannot mess with, is his wife. And June just did that. Jeopardizing not only her but also Mrs. Lawrence, and thus risking the exposure of the commander and the whole undercover resistance movement on the long run. Joseph's reaction? Some awkward staring down the stairs...

Im a Huge fan of first two seasons and a book was so amazing and euyopening but this... Show still amazez me, but now writers must do something unexpected and phenomenal, that I can Take this series as intense as before. Something has to happen. Now. At least.

Seriously, so slow, it's torture. The story is getting redundant. I feel as I've seen June's angry face a thousand times by now. How far is too far for her to explode ? Hoping that the last 3 episodes will thrill me enough so I hang on for season 4. It's time for the villains to suffer a bit...

We're all the way to episode 7 and June doesn't seem any closer to getting Hannah. Still don't understand why Luke didn't make seeing Hannah a condition of allowing Serena to see baby Nichole in episode 5. I can't look past that missed opportunity.

I was happy to see some emotion at the end of episode 7 when June choked out Ofmatthew. It was long overdue. However, I left with the questions like "why wasn't June punished for stalking Hannah? Why only the Martha? Are they afraid a punished June won't be camera-ready for public prayer sessions when pleading for Nichole's return?" Gilead is known for hanging citizens on the wall for far less offenses. This entire season is proving to be inconsistent, slow, and dull. I hope it picks up the pace soon and gets to the damn point.

A good Cure for insomnia

Cmon already that dance scene in DC? What was the point? And as others have mentioned, June is the Teflon Queen avoiding any more punishment even though they hang others for less? The "story" is just stretching any credibility. Not sure I can hang in there for 6 more snooze fest episodes.

Loosing interest

It was very anti climactic. As mentioned in other comments, they are trying to make the most out of the plot and make June seem as if she will make a big move and start a movement but each time viewer is left high and dry. I am displeased.

Now let's get on with the real story. How and why did Gilead get formed? What was happening in society that caused this to happen? What is this war between Gilead and USA? Where is the resistance movement that we got a glimpse of at the end of season 2?

Seriously, I'm not going to add more than has already been said about the episode and show by other people. All I will say is that I've started playing with my phone with the series in the background, and I never usually do that, especially not for masterpieces like handmaids tale. The show is getting boring!!! And nothing is happening! If we don't start seeing actual progress with the resistance soon, I will happily forget this show ever existed.

Slow & Tiring

Season 1 and 2 were really interesting and every episode had it's own way to keep you hooked but season 3? Really? Seeing June's-slow change-of expressions can only help you watch the episode in double speed. Also all this selfishness has successfully transformed her from an admirable heroine to annoyance.
