It's "ok"
aarongnr10 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I loved the first few minutes. Harbinger uniting the team was amazing to watch, but from the on it just crumbled.

I mean a baby rescue mission, fighting off some ghosts and opening a portal to evacuate what looked like 1 city, yet they're saying they evacuated 2 billion people or something. I mean, come on. Really? Those ships were literally just big enough to evacuate National City.

And also: The monitor tells us that Oliver saved 1 billion lives, but as the audience, you don't feel that. Hell you don't even see him fight to the end, it just cuts away and we see him dieing of some open face wounds... I mean what was the point. There are literally infinite earth being decimated and Oliver dies like that to save 1 billion lives? It just makes no sense.

Annihilation
ThomasDrufke9 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The anticipation for Crisis was high and something we've been waiting for over a year now since The Monitor appeared in Elseworlds last year declaring Oliver's fate doomed. While the first episode of the unprecedented 5 episode crossover wasn't entirely a success, it was a solid start with plenty of nuggets for fans of the DC Universe.

Being that it's the Supergirl episode of the crossover, the story mostly surrounded the earth where she and her side characters reside. This meant we got appearances from Lena, Jonn, Alex, Brainy, Nia and others as the Arrowverse heroes were brought to National City to stop the Anti-Monitor's annihilation of all living things. Sound familiar? Well, that's because it really is essentially this universe's version of Infinity War/Endgame. Not that it's completely a bad a thing, but it doesn't necessarily ring an original story.

The episode served as a set-up for the next 4 episodes but certainly ended on an unexpected cliffhanger. We knew Oliver had to "die" at some point, but I didn't think it would be at the end of the first episode. How involved he is in the next few events is unclear but there's just about a 1% possibility that's the last we see of Queen. Even if it was, Caity Lotz/Sara had a few really heartwarming "final" scenes with Stephen Amell. I'll always remember the line Sara said to Oliver in the crossover 2 years ago which was "this all started with the two of us". And for devoted fans of the entire Arrowverse, the scenes between the two of them is something I will always cherish, no matter the final result.

Hopefully the next few nights & the episodes we get in 2020 provide us with more Easter eggs and scenes between long time scene partners. For now tho, the premiere of the crossover will have to be enough. Remember there most always be a (Stark in Winterfell) Queen in Star City.

Great start
drambuie-19 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, the chills from the 89 Batman theme. Should have used the original batsignal though. All the cameos were great and can't wait for Tom Welling's Clark Kent. Mostly introduction, with some great fight scenes throughout the episode. As for the cliffhanger, there is no way that Oliver is dead so soon. This is not the proper death for him and I don't think this is the last we see of him. Overall great episode to start the crossover

The Crisis is Here
diogocaldeiragraca20009 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Best Parts: + The cameos in the opening monologue + The character interactions + Oliver's "death" (he can't be dead just yet) + The stakes (first episode of the Arrowverse since Arrow's "Lian Yu" to give me chills). Hope Earth-38 is really gone for good + The CGI + The acting (when Grant Gustin cries I want to cry. He's so good. Stephen and Melissa were awesome as well).

Personal Changes
  • Don't use soundtrack too much to give the viewer a more sense of dread and tension to what's to come
  • Have the Monitor bring more heroes to help fight (I know they probably didn't have the budget but the Monitor could have saved more people just by bringing more heroes)
  • Don't have Lena constantly saying she's not Alex's friend. I really like her character but she's always getting bad dialogue
  • Slow down the episode a bit. There's no rush.
  • Cut the pointless 2046 scene and give Sara and Oliver a scene together where it's just them and they talk about the beginning and etc.
  • I really feel like this episode deserved those sort of recaps where we're shown everything that has happened in the Arrowverse to set up the Crisis. That would have been awesome
  • More scenes with Barry and Oliver (if this is Oliver's last stand, they should have said goodbye to each other).

Can't wait for Hour 2. The winter break is going to destroy me.

hollybeat9 December 2019
Man, people on here who say they hate crossovers obviously were not comics fans growing up! Those of us who were get hyped when the Super friends all team up. Also, the constant not picking about politics, people just sit back and enjoy the story. The opening cameos were super fun, Stephen Smell knocks it out of the park, and the interaction and moments of humor with the other heroes is amazing. And that ending....

AMAZING!!!!!!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is perfect the nostalgia of Batman 89 theme and seeing the bat symbol in the sky was awesome. Then see Burt Ward as Dick Grayson with the old Batman 60s theme going was also awesome. The we get a cameo of Jason Todd and Hawk from Titans. We also know they are earth 9. It was really cool to see all our heroes together. Then we get Oliver fighting an army alone and die. Like I didn't expect him to die this early. I think he'll return at some point this crossover. But still a great scene wit's his fight and death. Just amazing episode, cannot wait for the rest.

Everything is doomed....
ninjaboyballer9 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was an absolute great start to the ultimate crossover of the Arrowverse. I loved every single cameo I saw and the effects were way better then anything I've seen in the Arrowverse so far. And all the characters stayed true to their true selves which can sometimes be a problem with giant crossover's with multiple people working on the project. I can tell this is going to be an emotional roller coaster. Especially after that ending. Although I don't think Oliver is gone yet and will probably come back at some point. But RIP the Arrow if he is truly dead. Overall very great start to Crisis. We've got 5 hours to stop this, five hours that will decide the fate of the entire multiverse. But worst case scenario, Everything and everyone that has ever ceased to exist is doomed.....

Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part One
Prismark1012 December 2019
An episode of Supergirl that aims to mirror the Marvel Cinema Universe as it begins a series of crossover shows which brings all sorts of DC Superheroes together, past and present.

The multiverse is being wiped by a wave of antimatter. The Monitor has got a team of heroes together to fight the crisis.

Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Oliver Queen, Mia Smoak, Barry Allen, Kate Kane, Sara Lance, and Ray Palmer have been bought into Kara's world. Earth-38 is where the heroes will make their last stand fighting off wave and wave of shadow demons which to be honest was disappointing.

The opening moments of the episode is for the nerds. Danny Elfman's Batman theme as Alexander Knox (Robert Wuhl) sees the Bat Signal. Holy smokes, it's Dick Grayson (Burt Ward.)

There is mirroring of Superman's own history as he now sends his baby to Earth on a pod as Argo city is destroyed.

The most emotional story is that of the Green Arrow. There is the beginning of an epicness but it does not quiet reach it here. Not with waves of CGI demons.

So Far...... Hasn't disappointed.
jayson-892629 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Love the Cameos of the other DC shows and Earth-89, homage to the movie BATMAN. Well done.

Oliver's last stand was great, but I'm sure he will be back. Can't wait for other surprises like Kevin Conroy and of course Smallvilles Tom Welling as Clark Kent/Superman and Erica Durance as Lois Lane.

Bring on Crisis On Infinte Earth Part 2.

larosaj-266669 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Well that was anticlimactic. So Oliver probably lasted ten seconds and saved a billion souls. Ok then. At least Sillygirl acted more super. Not that I would know from only seeing her in the crossovers which have been cringe inducing. Don't know who many of these characters were or particularly care though Braniac was irritating. Barely knew what was going on because it just wasn't interesting. The worst thing of course was Stickwoman. Her solo fight was so laughable with her running around as fast as the Flash and throwing men around like dolls.. The actress and her character are like nails on a chalkboard. Tonight's crossover will be particularly tough. How many 200 pound guys will she throw with her 80 pound body? Disgusting. Hoping the story improves. And Oliver's coming back so what was the point?

"Till now" it sucks
kingofdeath_199710 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Cw's version of Crisis on infinite earths is not even close to the real one. It sucks ! We need to see BATMAN and not an evil-sick-half handicapped version of Bruce Wayne that got killed after 5 mins of appearing. We need to see real fights, true superhero powers. If it continues like that, so I'm gonna stop watching those TV-Series!

Come Together!
highmarksreviews10 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I'm mighty impressed with how well The CW has been building up Crisis on Infinite Earths. Especially on Arrow's end. And now that the inevitable end has inched that much closer, did the first episode of the great Crisis live up to expectations? To some extent, yes it did. But with a mega-crossover come some pretty glaring issues that may hinder it otherwise. Hear me out now.

The scope of this event is pretty large. You have several big heroes and cameos left and right, a big battle and huge CGI structures. That's all well and good for what the budget of the creators can gather. Yes, the space reapers that go poof in one hit feel cheap and the action doesn't always stay consistently in focus, but having several costumes and gadgets in use at the same time still works very well. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely enjoyed the action and adored the brief, couple second appearances of fan-favourite stars and characters from across the DC Universe and beyond. It really shows how thoughtful the writers and producers are in giving good fan service.

While there is plenty of hearty drama to go around between several core characters, I did feel as if Barry (Grant Gustin) was underused here. In a way, so was Oliver (Stephen Amell), but we will get to that shortly. There is still this back and forth with trusting the Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) that just shouldn't be there. Moreover the constant jumps between characters and earths means you quickly loose the dramatic impact of certain conversations. There are strong ones and those weakened by the editing. It's really up to you how to digest them.

That's where episode one of this massive event falters. It's not that delicately paced and struggles to find breathing room for everyone and everything. Which is why I felt that the shocking death of Oliver was a little unjustified. Promo images and other sources indicate he will be around for another few rounds. Yeah, yeah dropping your bow and running into a horde of galactic space demons while uttering a battle cry is cool, but you don't see 50% of it. And it's not the fitting farewell the character deserves. Is it heroic? Absolutely. Was Ollie's farewell emotional? Yeah. Would it serve the story well for Ollie to bite it so quickly? No, not at all. If it's a bait, I hope they find a way to resolve it with logical consistency. If not, then well, way to go wasting a hero's sacrifice. I'm conflicted, because Arrow has made it clear that "there are no more stories about the Green Arrow to tell". Surely this isn't the end. I guess they are underlining this statement by pulling this card, but not like this. Not like this.

It's honestly just cool to see all these colourful, lovable characters band together in the midst of a crisis. And not just any crisis, this is THE ONE. If its narrative structure is to be taken out of the equation, is a DC fans dream come true for so many reasons. "Part 1" of this epic crossover event may not hit all the right notes with action or emotion, but it makes some bold moves, has awesome cameos and sets up an exciting conflict. Really, this episode didn't work for me 100% because of the way it ended. I just didn't like the fact that the writers would bait us with such a weird ending, let alone a bait involving the one and only Green Arrow.

The Crisis has finally arrived!
RahulM0079 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After a year of constant speculation, Crisis on Infinite Earths finally hit our small screens. The first part of the bombastic crossover delivered on all levels and lived up to the hype. The episode had its fair share of emotional moments and one huge gigantic twist (although it was inevitable). While, it may be too early to say this, but Crisis on Infinite Earths may become my favorite crossover of the Arrowverse.

The opening narration where the Monitor explains the origins of the multiverse was perfect and got me hooked right away. To be candid, the Monitor is one of the best characters of the Arrowverse and whenever he is onscreen the scene automatically shines.

Lyla Michaels aka Harbinger recruiting all the heroes for the coming crisis was extremely enjoyable to watch. How each scene shifts from one show to another was perfect.

I loved the scene where Oliver passes on the Green Arrow mantle to his daughter Mia. This sets up the low profile Green Arrow and the Canaries spin-off as we hardly know anything about it other than that it is set in the future.

One of the most memorable scenes of the episode was when Sara has a heart to heart talk with an alternate version of Oliver Queen. This was truly a heartwarming and poignant scene and left me in a emotional state.

The only small complaint I had with this episode was the sudden death of Oliver Queen. I knew that he would sacrifice himself during the crossover, but I did not expect it to happen so soon. It would have been better if he died during Part 4 of the crossover. What role is Oliver going to play for the rest of the crossover?

To conclude, Crisis on Infinite Earths is off to an amazing start. It had great action scenes, heartfelt moments and one extremely sad death scene. I am loving the interactions between the various characters. There will be no shortage of those during this massive crossover.

Nice, but always the same unnecessary problems
andre_carreiro12 December 2019
Worst Superman ever. And it's not the actor, it's the writers. 2D characters - it's like reading comics from the 50's. "Strong" characters are mostly women, men are pathetic (Barry has been safe for now, but even Oliver has turned into is most pathetic version). And even the women are a ridiculous kind of strong, much like the men were portrayed almost a century ago. I have given up watching all the series except "The Flash", and will only see this episodes for the Crisis. DC has the best super-heroes but keeps ruining them. It's heartbreaking. On the other hand, I look at what they did with the Batman in Dark Night, with Superman in Smallville, with the Flash in this series, with Wonder Woman in the movies (there's a really strong woman) and think that maybe there's still hope for DC.

Holy crap, this episode is crazy! A crossover that i will always remember. It has everything: epicness, humor and sadness. It's so great to see them all together. And this is just the first episode... Like wow. Every actor was outstanding, the soundtrack was on point and the visuals was beyond awesome. Everything that i look for in an episode was in this. And that cameos, also the ending damn! An absolute 10/10.

Build up for the amazing things to come, a great episode
Holt3449 December 2019
The Crisis is upon us...Worlds lived, worlds died. Nothing will ever be the same. That speech is the basis of the Crisis, characters and worlds will die as we clearly experienced in Arrow when Earth-2 got destroyed. The excellent director, Jesse Warn got the honor to direct the first part of the huge event and he doesn't disappoint. It's fast paced, entertaining and an interesting episode. The special effects are actually great and so is the writing, I got high hopes for this.

The Easter eggs and cameos in the intro part was awesome, also Burt Ward. Best cameo! This is a build up to the 4 episodes left of the Crisis event and if people thought the whole thing would be chaotic and filled with action they are wrong, in this episode we get to see a lot of character interactions, good ones at that. We get to see how big the multiverse really is and how everything fits together. After 20 minutes of build up, we get some really awesome action sequences and some emotional character moments. The whole episode ended in such an extraordinary way that kept us on the edge of our seats and made us hyped for part 2 of Crisis on Infinite Earth's.
