A surprisingly satisfying, cheesy B scifi comedy snack.
s-stetsko14 July 2020
I expect some people will pan this film completely, while some others who love B films will praise it to the extreme. I am not completely won over to either side, but overall, for a low budget comedy B Grade scifi horror, I have to admit it earns some noteworthy credit.

A lot of these kinds of films try SO hard to be funny and cheesy and they fail miserably. This one comes by both the cheese and the laughs honestly. It didn't exactly leave me with my sides splitting, but I felt entertained and at the end felt like I had been a part of a lighthearted cinematic romp, and at times some of the funny parts really hit well... and really what more can you expect?

Speaking on style and such, the acting is mostly quite solid, which is something many of these intentionally B films really fall flat on. The characters are quite flat, but of course they would be... it fits the genre. There are a couple times where the acting is off a bit unintentionally, but you have to let that slide and it is pretty minor overall. The humor is quite silly and juvenile, and a lot of it is drug centered (with fairly evident influences--most notably from That 70s Show)... but of course it is, THAT is usually part of the genre. The character effects and gore are extremely cheesy, with a straight up classic rubber suit alien who likes to pose dramatically to roar, and who teleports with cheesy little spark effects. Again... all exactly what one would want from a self aware B comedy scifi horror film. Sound is well done and lighting is handled professionally so you don't have to struggle to see or hear. The plot... well, I won't say much about it because there isn't much to say. It is what it is (although there is a bit of a ''twist'' to it).

All in all, honest entertainment for people who love the kind of movie it sets out to be. If it sounds like your kind of flick, then it probably is. I hope you watch it and have fun with it.

Well, it was enjoyable...
paul_haakonsen16 July 2020
Well, I was entertained by what director Stephen Ohl managed to dish out with this 2020 movie titled "Useless Humans".

Sure, this wasn't an award-winning movie in any sense, but it just had that certain quality to it. In fact, I found it to be a very worthy contender for being to the alien invader genre, what "Shaun of the Dead" was to the zombie genre and "Lesbian Vampire Killers" was to the vampire genre. In other words, an enjoyable movie that manages to be witty and fun enough to not take itself overly serious, but still remaining a good addition to the genre.

The storyline is very straight forward, but still manages to be entertaining and fun. And the twist towards the end was definitely a great addition to the movie. I really liked that part.

It was partly the storyline and partly the cast that made the movie work, and they definitely had a great cast ensemble put together for the movie, with the likes of Josh Zuckerman, Rushi Kota, Davida Williams and Luke Youngblood in the lead roles. Now, I wasn't particularly familiar with these actors and actresses, but they really carried the movie quite well.

The alien was so-so. I mean, it worked out well enough, but it could have been better if done differently. But hey, it worked okay with the rest of the movie, so that was good.

My rating of "Useless Humans" is a six out of ten stars. I was positively surprised by the outcome of this movie, and I was entertained from start to end. Definitely well worth sitting down to watch.

No brainer

It'ol never be the most amazing film you've ever seen but if you fancy watching something that doesn't require all your brain cells to function then here it is. I admit that me and my one brain cell rather enjoyed it...... on reflection.

This movie is stupid humor, full of clichés and juvenile. If you like B movies with slapstick humor, that is not taking itself seriously in any way. You'll enjoy this moive. This is just not my lane.

It's not the end of the world but ...
nrfxmy13 August 2021
...if the world ended tomorrow, I would definitely regret the 90 minutes I just wasted watching this. On the upside it gave me some time to dial in the settings on my sound system.

There were a few funny moments, and at least the right characters died. And the first aid tutorial might just come in handy someday.

Cringeworthy, juvenile, cheap, confusing mess
Jester2224 September 2021
Cliched, cheap and terrible supposed comedy moments.

Seriously! Who made this thinking it was worthwhile??

The Alien is the daftest looking creation I've seen in a long time. A silver morph suit with a dodgy mask and rubber hands that moves so slowly and only strikes the same pose everytime it appears.

The characters are just jokes (just not funny ones) The selotaped on Romantic parts fall flat as zero chemistry with any of the actors. ....they all knew it was awful and it shows.

Too childish to appeal to adults, like a really poor scooby doo but too bloody for kids (although the hore is minimal and poor also)

The soldier type woman and scientist women were the most pointless people ever. Their supposed attraction to each other only hinted on once and qually as pointless. Then what she does with the knife is the dumbest thing I've witnessed in ages. And her reaction after incredulous!? As if wasn't her dumb fault!?

And the supposed twist at the end.....well. Talk about being out of place in this movie. Trying to make a political and environmental statement in this car crash of a film is beyond puzzling. .....plus it counteracts the aliens behaviour totally!? Why would it be killing anyone!?

Not even worth a drunk viewing late at night. Find something better.

Far better than I thought it would be.
Sergiodave18 August 2020
Considering this was made on a shoestring budget I think they did really well. The acting wasn't bad, the script was okay and it made me laugh in places., especially the alien, whose costume was probably bought from a Halloween store. Well done.

skillful comedy with horror/sci-fi trappings
MunkyMovie8 April 2021
The characters are introduced in an amusingly effortless way, making it easy to follow what was going on, just as as a comedy should. Why all this appears with horror/sci-fi trappings is a little odd, but I say -- don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Useless Movie
chazyd-799-84999226 April 2021
Cheesy, low budget, "useless" humor, waste of 80 min I could have been enjoying some other "useless" entrainment. As a side note I'm so tired of the Hollywood left's potshots at the right. Oh yea, why wouldn't there be some of that "useless" rhetoric thrown in for some leftist fun.

Meaningless Entertainment
scythertitus28 July 2020
This is a good scifi comedy that doesn't really have much to say about the world or high stakes, but it is solid for what it is.

The writing is amusing and gets to the point of what it wants to achieve. There are lots of fun moments and this keeps the movie fresh and running along nicely.

Overall I can't call this a masterpiece, but it is a fun b-movie that doesn't take itself seriously and should provide an entertaining watch for most.

Parodie of parodies
roussou5 September 2020
If you take this move too seriously there won't be many laughs. But this movie brings out an extraordinary amount of cliches it is almost breaking the fourth wall. Consider this when you watch it and you'll have a good time.

Well at least they are trying to be fun, but they only reach as far as witty. it has a promising start, but from there its the verbal sprout of try to be comedy,by not using slap stick and situational physical pranks wouldve saved the day thinks the grumpy old man. its a cliched flick have seen hoard of titles doing this better. its a 5 a no more than that. its an inbetweener for all you drunks out there

Surprisingly good cast and effects for such an obscure production
habakukofice2 August 2020
I enjoyed the alien, I enjoyed the characters, I enjoyed the tone. The pacing was good so the film never dragged. The twist ending really didn't make sense, but it's fine, it's fine, it's not really about the plot.

"Out of This World Party"
Kamurai2511 July 2021
Decent watch at best, probably won't watch again, and can't recommend.

It starts as a bad "I wish we were still in college" movie, and barely leaves it as aspects of an alien invasion movie begins.

While they actually have an interesting concept to work with, an alien that feeds off of electricity, it looks like some alien costume they borrowed from a friend of a friend's cousin's uncle, but his dog just uses it as a hump toy. Then they put some poor guy inside it and too no time to make it a believable performance.

It's honestly pretty forgettable, which is disappointing because I actually recognized some of the actors as funny.

Give this a skip unless you are just really running low on things to watch.

A fun, cheesy sci-fi flick
jobdonegarner3 September 2020
I don't usually review things, but seeing this at a 4.2 was shocking to me, so figured I'd drop my opinion.

First off the obvious - this is a cheesy sci fi/comedy flick about 4 friends reconnecting and an alien, and if you're looking for more than that you'll be sorely disappointed.

Within it's genre though, fantastic. Chemistry carries the early part of the film, actors obviously had a ton of fun making it, and at 70 minutes actual film run time, never outstays it's welcome.

Basically - if you like this kind of film and the occasional meta humour, you'll be pleasantly surprised

Decent sci-fi comedy
RandomTard26 June 2022
This is not too bad movie, although the characters tend to just stand and stare instead of actually trying to fight the alien. There are some actually funny moments and jokes which is more than most comedies nowadays have. The acting is good enough and the cheap visual effects didn't bother me. The music was too loud at points but other than that the sounds were ok.

An excellent, entertaining, low-budget effort.
cableaddict20 July 2020
This movie obviously doesn't take itself seriously. And yet, all aspects are first-rate: the acting, the cinematography, and especially the script. We actually get glimpses into the inner-workings of most of the characters, which is mighty rare with a campy horror flick. It's genuinely funny, and has genuine tension. Nothing juvenile about it. It's a very hard movie to describe, but I found it quite entertaining, in a totally meaningless way. I recommend it, just don't expect a Spielberg-level production.

stephenryan-4911017 May 2021
If you don't like this film I must ask... what were you expecting with a title called "USELESS HUMANS"? It delivered on its promise of a goofy sci-fi comedy and I really enjoyed it. For those of you that are hesitant... I recommend relaxing with a few drinks on the weekend and checking this film out.

Thoroughly enjoyed it!
shwageddie30 July 2020
The movie had a good story, good characters and moved along nicely. The main character's personalities (although completely different) meshed very well throughout the movie.

I'm a fan of sci-fi comedies and this one did not disappoint!!
