A great start to the season!
michaelvanviersen3 October 2017
I haven't written a review yet on IMDb but after seeing the 3 star review I felt I needed to.

This will be short and sweet....

Im a big fan a actually watch B99 way too much, season 2, 3 probably being my favourite.

I felt B99 got lost a bit last season a started to recover towards the end of the season.

After watching this first episode and after laughing a lot, Im full of confidence that this season will be great!

Its a awesome episode and bring on the rest of season 5

A great begining

Warning: Spoilers
A great start to the season. I think Jake and Rosa's plot in prison is developed in an intelligent way, even though Rosa's subplot is not that interesting. Jake's final spin entering the band really causes a sense of insecurity in the next episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Well put through episode.I won't say the best but one of the good ones

***Spoiler Alert**** This episode was mainly centered around Jake So Jake and Rosa(;p)are in prison because they were convicted for robbing banks by Hawkins The episode starts with Charles having a dream that Jake is out and they are going to Disney Land(Now if have watched all seasons, you would have figured it is a dream) Everyone is trying their best to find something on Hawkins to get Diaz and Jake out but she has left no loose ends Inside the jail, Jake is trying to blend in so that he could save his ass (coz he is a cop and everybody wants him dead) Also he is frustrated that he can't see Amy more He has a cellmate Caleb who is cannibal and has a history of eating up 9 and a half people. He is as easy going as Jake and is his biggest help in the prison He helps him meet Romero who smuggles almost anything in the prison Now the best thing I love about this show how they portray a bad guy Romero is Jake's best shot of getting a phone in prison but in return he wants Ramen(street flavors :p) For that Charles helps him and he gets his phone As soon as everything is better,Warden finds out few Ramen in Jake's cell and sends him to Gen Pop(where all criminals and PS:They hate cop) Jake tries to join a gang to keep himself save but is of no use Then Caleb asks him to join Romero's Romero's takes Jake in because he gave him a tip on how to leave some of the noodles to put on top to get a crispy twist :p But next thing you know he asks Jake to kill a guard which Jake counters by saying he can get him fired Jake came up with a plan to make the guard angry and told Caleb to film it(numerous times) caught Warden's attention and his phone was seized Warden now played another card telling Jake to snitch on Romero so that he can get to know about Romero's drug stash and Jake agrees

Now Jake becomes part of Team Romero and is safe but has to find a way to know where the drugs are as Romero doesn't trust him yet PS:The name of the drug is Blitz(cool name)

The Big House 1

Warning: Spoilers
Charles used to be the highlight of this show, but he has somehow become the worst (outside of Gina, obviously). From the hair, to his impractical dialogue and thought process, he takes away from most of the scenes he is in. There were some good Terry and Holt moments in this episode, but for a season premiere it was quite lackluster and uneventful.

Cringe-worthy

Warning: Spoilers
I was looking forward to the start of season 5, as season 4's beginning was awesome... but I was sorely disappointed. This episode was tragically cringe-worthy and I could barely watch. Captain Holt's "yaass queen" comment was the cringiest thing I have ever witnessed. Not to mention the beginning of the episode of Boyle's dream, it was a disastrous start to this season. Here's hoping the next episodes are much better than this one.

Misrepresentation of prison guards
clownbaby-060063 September 2021
The episode was pretty funny but it seems the show is trying to be "woke" or political by showing the penal system is full of guards abusive of inmates, violent, etc. They had a glimpse of this when Terry gets arrested by a white cop for being black (a bit overdone). Nothing wrong with saying something, but it's better to be funny and their way off.
