Warning: Spoilers
I will watch anything with Marvel in the title, I am a sap that way, but this show might be pushing the line. Once the premise got going it did get kind of fun, but I think they spent way too much time setting up the cliched high school world these characters inhabit and it just was not necessary.

It doesn't seem like they got the strongest group of actors to fill this cast either.

I'm not writing the show off by one episode, it did entertain me at times, but this needs to get Marvel-ish and fast.

Good start to a hopefully amazing show!

I love the Runaways comic series. My favorite superhero team. That got me excited when I heard this was coming to Hulu. And then I heard it was coming out today on my birthday. So yeah, I was pretty dang excited for this and so far it delivered. It moved pretty slow but that also gave it more emotion and character development. What bugged me though is that they are talking about someone named Amy who died and I don't remember her from the comics so that was weird. Otherwise it's pretty amazing and I am going to watch more later.

A slow burn but boy was it hot by the end of Season 1

If you persevere past the somewhat slow earlier episodes you discover a masterful build of supsense and storyline with each of the young actors settling well into their roles by the end of Season 1.

The storyline develops powerfully as everything (and everybody) proves to be not what it seems. Bring on Season 2!

Reunion

Episode 1 of Runaways looks like any Californian based drama of rich high school kids. Although given this is a Marvel series, they are bound to have some kind of superpowers and it will have some kind of inspiration from Buffy - The Vampire Slayer, after all James Marsters is in this.

The teenagers are the usual mix. The nerdy Alex (Rhenzy Feliz), purple hair dyed troublemaker Gert (Ariela Barer), the goth Nico (Lyrica Okano), winsome Karolina (Virginia Gardner), the jock Chase (Gregg Sulkin) and innocent and baby of the group Molly (Allegra Acosta.)

Most of them are not friends any more, Chase and Alex have grown apart but they were all friends because their parents. The parents are rich, some powerful, some more fabulous and all are involved in a charity group called the Pride.

The episode concludes as the teens find a secret passage, Pride are having their annual gathering but what they witness is something more nefarious. The teens have plenty of reason to distrust their parents who may not be god but the opposite.

Not many runaways apart from the opening scene where a young girl who has runaway from her home is seemingly accosted by two Spanish speaking young men before she is rescued by the Church of Gibborim. The Spanish speaking men say afterwards she would had been safer with them.

The drama looks like it will be a grungy slow burn drama, as the Runaways are not expected to runaway until season 2.

So many missing parts to make it understand! Who is Amy? Who is missing when she not on the pictures? 😂 What's going on? They were 7 but she ain't on the picture with them?

Does Thimothy Granaderos always play the role of a rappist? Just need to know

A slow start
wms-9274125 December 2020
This series is fairly well reviewed, but on the basis of one episode, I can't see it. It takes until the last minute for anything to happen, save one scene where one character discovers an ability. It is torturously slow, and to be quite honest if the second episode isn't a whole lot more interesting I will give up on Runaways.
