It was time for it to end.
Supermanfan-1319 December 2023
I've been a fan of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead since the beginning. Even though the original Walking Dead is the better of the two, Fear still holds its own and is definitely worth watching. There are people who complain and hope that it gets canceled. I'll never understand why people root for a show to get cancelled...just stop watching it. Why root for it to go if a lot of people still like it, all you have to do is change the channel. There are a few down seasons like 4 and 5 but it picks back up again in a big way with season 6. It's coming to an end after this upcoming season and even though I still enjoy the show, it's time for it to come to an end. If you're a fan of this genre then this is a must watch.

More about Character Development & the human experience than "the walkers"
mschrock28 November 2023
I have been captivated by this series especially after the character development was completed. I preferred original TWD, but after Morgan's crossover this series really took off. I hung in there to the end, including the final season when IMDB ratings dropped, like a ton.

To me, that final season was somewhat disappointing, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Those characters deserved a good ending, with all the drama the main WD series provided in spades. They got that.

One complaint I did have was the continual previews (spoilers that is) during every commercial. Why would you do that? Other shows do it too much as well, but the WD shows led the way. I realllly dont like spoilers.

But I did like this show. Don't let the walkers & some blood stop you. It's really not too gory. The character development is well worth the journey.

Slow start, but great pick up in pace later!
MovieBuffMarine14 December 2023
What began as a very slow pace blossomed into a Walking Dead iteration that fans can enjoy!

It is a shame that it began slow, but it is a challenge to start a prequel (albeit with different characters and different geographical location) to an established show.

While it was indeed a slow start, it was very watchable in my opinion. You see how our characters cope with the sudden building crisis and the eventual breakdown of government and the rest of society.

We watch as a family struggles to regroup and how they are affected by the Zombie Apocalypse. Like the source show, we see the painful reality as friends and family succumb to the world of the undead.

The pace did kind of slow down again towards the end of the series, but not as slow as the beginning.

If you are a fan of The Walking Dead, if you have the patience to get through the slow first season, this iteration will be a delight.

Not a very good ride, but greatly satisfy with the ending.
cabelloa26 November 2023
After the walking dead, this will be a good continuation of the story for the fans. Its a completely distant from the story of "The walking dead", even when characters from The walking dead appears later on the series, it still continues with its own style and tell the story with its own way.

It's hard to be keep interested in the show with the pacing and other factor. But, as far as the story with each character, it is good.

The show is not that really interesting especially in season 4 and so on, but the ending, for me, is great. A great conclusion for the show. Hoping to see them in other shows, if there will be any, that continues the story in the world of walking dead.

Season 6 has brought the show back!
ethanjjacobs27 June 2021
I really enjoyed this prequel from TWD. The show definitely dropped in season 4 and 5 due to the lazy writing but I thought the rest of the show was really exciting and all the actors were great, especially Lennie James. If you loved TWD you'll definitely enjoy this

Season 1 7.0/10 I really loved the start and end to this season but the 4 episodes in between could be a little boring , Especially when they were stuck at the army base. This season had a great end and was a promising first season.

Season 2 7.3/10.

Again the middle part to this season felt a little dragged out. I really enjoyed nicks parts, he was definitely the best character this season. A negative is Chris, he's really annoying and I don't think anyone liked him. I thought the ending was great especially when travis starting to lose it it made his character so much more entertaining.

Season 3 7.9/10 Really entertaining season and it was much more consistent than the last 2 seasons. Troy's character was a great character, him and nick made the season so much more action packed.

Season 4 6.2/10 A Really great start. The first 5 episodes were great and the introduction of Morgon, John and June were great, I really love there characters and there the reasons I got through this season. I really didn't like al, she was recording on her camera all the time and it made her really unlikable , I just thought she was really annoying. The flashbacks started to get really boring and ruined this season.

Season 5 5.2/10 The first 4 episodes were decent. But then the show went completely down hill. Al recording was the worst thing about season 4 and then the writers made 2 episodes dedicated to her doing that. Another annoying thing was Morgan's whole peace thing, after a while it just got boring.

Season 6 8.3/10 An unexpected comeback! The show seemed like it was completely dead. But it's now at it's prime. The new Morgan is so much more enjoyable than the one we knew. The Virginia arc was really entertaining and exciting and all of the characters were great, except for Dakota, she is probably the most annoying character in the whole walking dead universe. I thought the ending was really good and I can't wait for season 7, I just hope it stays at the standards of this season.

Season 7 4.8/10 Wow. After season six I thought this season would at least be enjoyable. There were a few episodes that I thought were decent and some that I enjoyed. But there were also a lot of episodes that I wouldn't give more than a 2/10. Lots of boring, lazy and stupid writing. Hopefully season 8 is better but I doubt it.

Amazing comeback for Season 6!!
baloghviki052215 February 2021
If you are watching Season 5 currently and find it boring, please don't stop watching!! Season 6 might be the best season so far! I'd love to give it a 10 but there were some boring episodes in Season 4-5, but season 6 just entered the competition!

Bad directing; worse writing
outpix22 July 2019
I have to agree with many reviewers here in that watching a group of incredibly stupid survivors of a zombie holocaust is torture. It's one bad storyline after another and the actors know it. There's very little for them to work with and subsequently the acting is subpar. Fire every writer and every director and start over; you can't do any worse.

They've gotten lazy, very lazy.
garcinder7 December 2021
Anyone finding the story and plotlines ridiculous? The last seasons of these shows and final episodes make less sense than anything previous. As usual, all good things must end, and so they shall.

A spin-off that takes to the start of the zombie apocalypse!
ahmetkozan10 April 2016
It's a real shame that most people rate shows on a "0 or 10" scale. Most of the complaining I hear about this show stem from people wanting it to be more like TWD. If you'd like to see something that is not TWD, but exists in the same universe--I think that's called a "spin-off"--then this show is that. Different places, different faces. Some of the characters make dumb choices, some are boring, and some are annoying. Viewers really seem to hate "realism" despite always screaming for it.

It's not perfect. I could gripe about the things I don't like, but they are minor when compared to the fact that I'm really enjoying watching how things progressed while Rick was in a coma. It offers nothing in the way of explaining the zombies (that's a good thing), but is showing really well how panic and mobs of humans actually paved the way for zombies to swoop right in and eat everyone.

If you want to enjoy this show, turn off your silly expectations about it being like TWD, and just watch while convincingly-real and flawed humans deal with a fast-moving crisis that no one seems to understand. It's easy for viewers to forget that these new characters don't have years of experience in the zombie world, so it just looks like some weird virus that makes people crazy and hard to kill. 7/10

Single handedly carrying the post-apoc zombie genre
marilynslimson1 May 2021
Let the haters hate. I admire the captivity of the post-apocalyptic world that TWD has set. Most of us were lost after season 7 when TWD had turned into this melodramatic soap opera. Come on guys... But I am glad that Fear TWD kept me down as a fan of the walking dead saga. Nick, Strand, Alycia are such fine actors and they shun in this show. Thankfully they played their characters with such conscience and meticulousness that it shows in their performances. So convincing, so believable and yet flawed at the same time. I just love the crew that they have built up now in season 5 and beyond. I will not name any names but thanks to everyone from the cast, crew, writing, art direction and the effects. Please keep it up. You have saved TWD saga and while that show has lost its charm due to dragging out stories and unnecessary side characters that didne possess an ounce of personality. You guys have kept it different, kept it fresh and impactful. I salute you all for your hard work.

Interesting, Better, Good, Bad, Awful, Fantastic to sum it up..
tom-5151623 April 2021
Honestly such a shame that S4&5 were so bad. Because S6 is FANTASTIC! Would have loved to have seen the show continue where it left off at S3 and use S6 as the Morgan intro but then again I feel as if we are being treated with S6 after suffering throughout S4&5, however in reality it's just because Scott Gimple (show runner for S4&5 of fear and S7&8 of twd) ruined those seasons just like S7&8 of the main show, as soon as he leaves both shows they become good again... Just hoping S7 is going to be just as good - if not better!

Morgan argh!
eenerander-4671412 June 2023
This would be an awesome show if:

#1 if this group of people weren't once again falling under the rule of some other idiot in this case a couple of teenagers. Furthermore: take the head off the snake when you have the first 10 chances and end it instead of just letting it drag on episode after episode. It's all the same antagonists doing all the same things to all the same characters. Try something new, after over 20 seasons spanning multiple TWD universes.

#2 Kill off Morgan, worst character ever. He's more annoying than Rick Grimes who spent most of his episodes talking and basically getting everyone killed. He's just a terrible character.

#3 So far this season is the epitome of one season too many. It may have been better if it didn't revolve around Morgan and his "Issues" get over it.

I simply no longer understand the storylines of this show
NullUnit9 May 2022
..... just end the series already.

Season 7 is nonsense.. no real storyline... it is as if they wake up each Monday and decide what the next episode should be... as if they are writing it off-the-cuff in a high school drama department without any "seasonal" outline or history of the past seasons. Or a sense that any character came from the main show thus history of their time on The Walking Dead either.

At this point it's more of comedy of errors than anything else. It just keeps getting more and more unrealistic, convoluted, and illogical.

Season 7 Episode 14, Divine Providence, so clearly shows the entire issue with the writing and how characters are not written like *real* people. It's really become "soap opera" writing with illogical 180° turns in character motivations within the span of 20 minutes (seriously). Kill Him! No Trust him! No Kill Him! No Trust Him! No Kill Him. On top of that, there are CLEAR continuity errors in episode 14 -- watch for Alicia using her "missing hand" to grab someone's rifle, then make a fist with it immediately afterwards.

------------------

And it seems season 7 meant nothing.. without spoilers.. they start an ENTIRE NEW STORYLINE the last episode of season 7. Episode 16 of season 7 (the finale) has NOTHING to do with the previous 15 episodes in the season. One could literally watch the season 6 finale, then immediately jump to the season 7 finale and not have missed anything. No one of any importance dies and nothing of major consequence happens in the first 15 episodes of season 7. They are largely a waste of time and padding so everyone can get paid for them.

"Lazy writing" is an understatement.

-------------------

Season 8 thus far (seen 3 eps) is merely a lesson in how to write a soap opera when one ignores ALL logic.

  • Prevent children from losing parents..... by taking them away from parents... so they lose their parents
  • Travel from the west coast of the US (Padre) to King County Georgia (where Morgan met Rick in The Walking Dead) in the blink of an eye - where are they hiding the teleporters???

  • HUGE time leap.... but no one has aged except children.

  • A scar on Dwights face that, after years, now appears like it's a fresh wound and NOT a scar at all - I've never seen a SCAR that's deeply multi-colored after a decade.

Season 8 has been much worse than season 7... I'm only watching it because it's been announced as the last season.

Season 6 is amazing.
Mappers-Buckles10 January 2021
Wow. It's amazing to see how the writing and scripts evolved from season 5 to 6. Morgan was explosive at the start of season 6. It's amazing season 6 is reviving the show. Now Fear has managed to maintain a good streak. The most incredible parts influence how tense they managed to make the chapters with very good performances and incredible direction, the characters are no longer annoying and now they usually make good decisions normally, Season 6 is better than Seasons 7 and 8 of The Walking Dead. If you keep this up, you can even replace the main series when it's finished.

In my opinion it deserves an 8.4/10 because they managed to get out of a bottomless abyss. In summary: Season 6 is an 8.8/10, good development, good plot twists, good direction, good effects, good performance and the plot which implements is engaging, since the characters are mostly not annoying, but it has moments that are not memorable and are often simply boring. GOOD WORK :D.

Radiation zone
jtkirk16116 November 2021
Why don't they all just leave the radiation zone? What is possibly keeping them here? This show has gotten to stupid for words. Masks on until they come off in the same areas? I could go on all night but I have better things to do.

Thank God for Frank
bkgseoul25 September 2021
Nick's character & Strand's are the ONLY two that I liked, everyone else was annoying. HOW you going tell someone what you going to do at their place or on their boat......or NOT listen when the world is going to hell. I spent a lot of time rolling my eyes at the rest of the cast but I LOVE Morgan & zombies too.

These people
bkgseoul26 September 2021
So I FINALLY decided to watch, just do I could binge. I did watch, TWD, episode by episode & that has my anxiety level high. Anyways, when I first saw Chris, I hated him & Ironically, he's real name is my ex's. Lol. No wonder I felt this way. I know it's just a show & they just played the role but Lawd have mercy, I KEPT begging for Chris to die. My FAVORITE character & why I remained hooked was Frank's character, Nick. He's such a young Johnny Depp. (He's the ONLY actor I have loved throughout his career, no matter what, besides, Vincent Price, of course). Also Morgan's character, played Lennie was a bonus.

START AT SEASON 4!!! TRUST ME!!
grownmann23 October 2021
I think a lot of folks problem with this show was the pace, and annoying characters. Without saying too much, you can start at season 4 and really not miss much, and still get the backstory throughout the season of how they got to that point. Just trust me, Season 4 is almost like a whole new show!!

Up and down

I am not good at writing reviews. Seasons 1-3 were absolutely amazing. Season 4 went downhill quick and it slowly started to get better again with seasons 5 and 6. Season 4 was a mistake.

Season 7
alnical77715 November 2021
So far season 7 is the worst, and that's saying a lot. Strand and Morgan have become the main characters. How does that happen? You are writing and directing this show into cancellation!!! The only good/like able characters have been killed off or have disappeared. I'm hoping this season gets better. Killing off Strand, Morgan, and Grace would be really great.

Great comeback!
tomfeddema16 November 2020
The second half of season 4 and season 5 weren't the best, but season 6 looks very promising! I was starting to give up with the show, but it's back and I'm starting to love it as I did before. Definitely worth watching again!

Only for the first 3 seasons
franfaustomusica17 April 2023
It's a great series...until the fourth season. I mean, the first 3 are magnificent, right? What happened? The change of showrunner in my opinion caused the series to wander in soulless characters, a wrong aesthetic and a monotony never seen before. I had impeccable intrigue and excitement in the first 3 thanks to Madison; Travis: Nick and Alicia... without them coming together it will never work. Was leaving town a good idea? Emulating TWD in the permanent desire of the characters was the beginning of everything? I think it extended too much and I think that in the 4th or 5th it should have ended. At the top and with the family together.

Used to love FEAR, now it's TRASH
DYouKnowWhatIMean29 November 2021
The first 3 seasons are solid. Season 4 was passable, although, 4b had perhaps the worst villain to ever "grace" the small screen.

Season 5 was complete trash. The writing quality took a huge nosedive. The new writers just kept adding characters because they clearly didn't know how to develop the existing ones. They started injecting slapstick comedy and action into the episodes and characters began acting without any logic or reason. The plot really started to drive the show and characters were only ever reacting to plot, often in bizarre and nonsensical ways.

Then season 6 happened. And you know what? It was good! It appeared as if the show was changing for the better. The plot seemed more cohesive, the characters were acting with logic and consistency again. There's still some less than great moments, but it was a positive trend in the right direction and gave the audience hope.

Season 7A shattered all of that hope for me. The show has returned to Season 5 levels of quality and perhaps an argument could be made that it has become even worse. They have destroyed all of the OG characters.

This show is unwatchable now. If you want a serious drama featuring zombies, watch until season 3 and then bail. Nothing after is worth your time.

It's become a soap opera, quite literally with evil twins and cackling arch-villains. This is even a massive departure from the worst season of The Walking Dead and its notoriously bad season 8. By comparison, season 8 is a masterpiece.
