Is it me...

Or have Butt-Head gotten a a tad more intelligent over the years? I recall these two back in the day when I was a kid. Shows sticks to the original formula and it is nice to see them back in action. Good stupid fun all around.

Mike Judge, we thank you.
Wendylikepeterpan28 August 2022
Mike Judge manages to awaken the sleeping deviant inside fans of the original series in this updated version of the 90s classic that inspired (or uninspired) the MTV generation.

While the days of introducing the youth of America to heavy metal legends, such as White Zombie and Alice in Chains have long passed, this fresh take on these two legendary heathens in the modern universe doesn't disappoint die hard fans who recall their first glimpse of Beavis and Butthead from "The Liquid Television" days.

Beavis and Butthead are still the same burnt out, oblivious ne'er do-wells aging metalheads know and love. Judge even manages to slip a music video into the online content teens (such as Beavis and Butthead) watch today, maintaining relevance and increasing believability for a younger audience.

While this classic buddy show has been so often written off as mindless nonsense, and even credited with the dissolution of morals and attention spans of America, Its longevity, and that of it's talented and thoughtful creator, solidifies what Gen X stoners always knew, Mike Judge is a god damn genius, who reflected the angst and confusion of a transitional generation, often treated like criminals at the onset of puberty. He gave them something that felt like theirs, a secret code of sorts that their parents couldn't understand. And now he's done it again, proving himself a hero, a light in the darkness who comes through when the world needs to laugh at itself the most.

It's Back!!!
ANannyMoose0214 September 2022
Memories of lying awake in bed, watching MTV late night for Beavis & Butthead. Being one of my favourite shows it was quite the thrill to see it made a return decades later. I had a feeling Mike Judge probably thought of many different scenarios for B&B throughout the years. I imagine he'd thought of quite a few and considered doing the show again. I'm so glad he did because I just saw episode one and it hasn't lost a single fibre of it's funny. The voices are the same (Mike Judge voices them both), they're level of stupidity as well as their offensive behaviour haven't lost any of it's substance. It feels more or less the same as the original show. I truly hope this show does a great many episodes before it's run it's course. It's second course.

These new episodes are awesome. Mike Judge still has it. The episode where the YouTuber whispers into the camera & makes sounds with Crayola markers had me dying. I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Don't sleep on these new episodes. They're hysterical.

Ughhhh huhuuheheh this is like amazing or something.

Wow. This is a great come comeback. Glad they're not on MTV anymore. Keeping to its roots and simplicity is what works. Great to see the boys in a modern setting and making fun of what's currently relevant. The story segments were strong, dumb and smart.

The special one slightly strayed from the usual format of the story segments and was more story oriented. We got to see Beavis on his own adventure with a twist, a great call back to ban of fire and the controversy surrounding it. The other the episodes are just great pure hilarity, the boys follow their usual set of shenanigans of trying to score, break stuff, get hurt, get money and eat some nachos of course.

The new reaction segments are hilarious. A great way keeping up and reacting to what's currently going on in the media world. And who better than Beavis and Butthead giving their take on it.

This truly gives hope to me! I can't wait to see more of these bungholes in future seasons!

We really needed these two back in the universe. So hilarious and love that they still stayed true to their roots with implementing new generation elements. Jokes are spot and the stories are great. Always a lesson to be learned.

Just about everything about this relaunch is perfect
kevin_robbins23 October 2022
Beavis and Butt-Head (2022) is a series that I recently watched on Paramount+. The storyline follows our two friends, Beavis and Butthead, in a new world of music, technology and worldly entertainment since we lost saw them. A new world opens the door for new hijinks.

This series was created by and contains the voices of legend Mike Judge (King of the Hill) and also contains the voices of Piotr Michael (Lightyear), Chris Diamantopoulos (True Story), Kosha Patel (Girlboss) and Mary Birdsong (Reno 911).

This stays so true to the original Beavis and Butthead decades later. I was thoroughly impressed at how well this brought me back to those days when this series was on TV. The jokes are perfect as is the circumstances and how our characters react to it. Loved the situations and old characters they brought back into the universe also. Just about everything about this relaunch is perfect.

Overall, this couldn't have been better relaunched by Paramount+. I would score this a 10/10 and strongly recommend it.

Don't watch season 8; THIS is the real revival!
jaluca-5991112 August 2022
I remember being pretty disappointed in 2011's season 8 of Beavis and Butt-head because it tried too hard to integrate rap and hip-hop videos in place of the heavy metal videos of B&B's original hay-day. This series does a MUCH better job of staying true to how B&B would react to today's pop and social media videos. And, of course, the skits are much truer to the original series as well. Three cheers to Paramount+ and Mike Judge! Thanks for bringing this cult classic back to life for this generation and mine!

They neutered Beavis and Butt-Head and missed the point
kuner-5902918 September 2022
First off, surprisingly the new episodes are entertaining. They didn't change the show to be woke, nor did they inject current day politics into it. Beavis and Butthead are still the same lovable twits they've been since the 90s, still wearing their Metallica and AC/DC shirts, still giggling at words that may or may not have double meaning and still getting into trouble.

Except... something is off.

They were never quite this stupid in the old episodes. They used to have an almost predatory instinct, and usually their single minded focus on scoring or causing mayhem led to damage to OTHER people.

Which was the whole point. The old show didn't glorify B&B causing mayhem, it showed teenage stupidity and society having to pay a price for not keeping it (and idiots in general) in check.

Take the classic episodes of B&B working at Burger World, throwing rats or the phone into the fryer, not able to answer questions about milk shakes, telling customers to shut up and go away; The message is clear. A society unable or unwilling to turn its adolescent idiots into productive members of society will become dysfunctional. Businesses will go bankrupt. Something we see nowadays where kids get out of school or even college and can't spell or do basic math and expect to get paid 80k a year for 4 days of work a week.

Similarly, B&B not understanding economics in the classic episode "Candy Sale" or stealing Mr. Anderson's golf balls and selling them back to him, showed that they had a certain killer instinct. Not to mention when they sniffed pain thinner, vandalized Mr. Anderson's house and used his ride mower to destroy a botanical garden. The old B&B were vicious.

Now B&B are more or less neutered and the show makes THEM pay the price for their studpity. They are shown to be too stupid to use a ladder, too dumb to enter their home through a window and generally completely dysfunctional at a level where they'de be considered mentally retarded. That is something they never were in the old episodes. And they rarely had to suffer for their own stupidity. Society had to. That's the message. The message and much of the humor doesn't land if B&B have to suffer. That turns the show from a social satire to just laughing at mentally disabled kids getting hurt. That's not funny.

The closest the new show gets to the old is the episode where they try to get wasps to make honey. That is classic B&B. It's not believable that these kids would be too dumb to know how to open a window. But it's very believable that they wouldn't know the difference between bees and wasps. That episode had it all: B&B scheme to make quick money, formulate a plan, their stupidity sabotages their plan and in the end society pays for it.

Episodes like that are why I still give the show 7 stars. I love those two goofballs and the little world they live in. The voice acting is still spot on, and it just warms my heart seeing these two laugh about words like 'doorknob' or 'whole' and causing mayhem.

Here's hoping the writers will eventually figure out what the show was about and produce some episodes that don't make B&B out to be mentally disabled kids who get hurt for our amusement.

Beavis and butthead are back!
xxboarderxx-7765910 August 2022
This is the exact same hilarity as the original show. This is a can't miss revival that was way overdue. You'll be laughing through the entire show. It even takes some time to let beavis explore the world by himself.

Please don't ccenel this masterpiece
MoistMovies3 December 2022
Large screens should be all around that Mona Lisa with new bevis and butt head clips playing around it.

As someone who's dabbled in sculpture n painting 3 decades ago but hasn't done anything for 3 yrs now creatively.. Mr Judge pulling out a renewed version that wasn't a cash grab like he did when he did I think 1 season in 2013 and it was like watching tosh.0 with bevis n butt head as commentators and never funny. But Mr Judge proved me wrong that great old series can come back , and if they find a studio for a second try then I'll be over to moon heh heh heh* imagine I'm bevis laughing so I can fill the qwota limit.

Grew up watching originals and I like this more!
codyharrismn30 October 2022
PLEASE, PLEASE keep making these new beavis and butthead episodes! It's the only reason I pay for paramount. I absolutely love the new episodes and brag them up to every person who watches TV lol. This is the definition of what a revival should look like! Hollywood is too scared to do REAL comedy, that this show still holds some value to the original. The dur-du-durs in Hollywood that can't come up with their own original ideas and need to re-do classics HAVE to take notes from Mike judge and from what viewers want! No more comedy of, oh it might hurt someone's feelings...it's Comedy! It's a joke! Quit being offended all the time and enjoy a sense of humor! Be American! Free speech lives here.

Better than the Original
quantumphyzx14 November 2023
Yeah, I said it.

The reboot is better than the original. You can tell that Mike Judge has matured over the years, it definitely shines in this newest reboot, and it gives me a LOT of hope for the planned King of the Hill reboot coming out sometime soon on Paramount+ too.

That's not to say the old show wasn't good, or a classic. Of course it was. It's an iconic 90s household name and it delivered the goods--it brought the raunch that The Simpsons couldn't bring, since MTV used to actually flirt with counter-culture ideology in its formative years unlike the monstrous trashbin it's evolved into today--a death by a thousand cuts, as they say.

I watch the original B&B (or at least, what's available of it on Prime) all the time. You can tell that the original was created by a very young Mike Judge, there's no real nuance or creatively intelligent use of the duo's slapstick raunchiness. It's just a non-stop barrage of stupidity for the sake of stupidity (I'm not complaining, since that's kind of always been the duo's original raison d'etre), but it's not couched in any real finesse or true wit.

The reboot is a whole different story. The avalanche of idiocy is still here in droves, but it's crafted with witty deft and really brings the side-splitting laughs instead of the original show's low-volume chuckles. One of the show's biggest upgrades in this regard is its variety. We now have old B&B where they live on welfare, alternate universe intelligent B&B where they're interdimensional aliens who are still stupid but just the smartest versions of their kind of stupid (and it's easily some of the reboot universe's most hilarious content), and more involvement from tertiary characters that really gives the show a lot more content to digest then just their traditional grunts and bathroom/sex humor.

The slapstick is still here, the toxic virginity and inability to score is still here, and the bumper content where they annihilate modern media content (mainly viral youtube videos) is still here and honestly better than it's ever been.

I can't believe the reboot has less than 2K votes here on IMDB and that it isn't more widely watched or mentioned in pop culture. This reboot is built to last and it will be a true loss if it were to be prematurely cancelled; I've been anxiously awaiting Season 3--hopefully we get it as quick as we got Season 2 after Season 1 aired (it was only like 5 or 6 months between seasons).

Also, if you haven't seen the newest B&B film Does the Universe than you need to watch it, now. Mike Judge and his brainchildren are in top tier form right now and better than they've ever been. Really on top of their game(imo Does the Universe was better than Does America).

I'm off to go eat some nachos.

Now this is how you make a dont-care-about-being-politically-correct remake!
realityinmind21 July 2023
In a time in which remakes just palette swap characters, this show captures all the best aspects of the original series. I'm surprised how funny this is... it is updated and relevant, without focusing on being politically correct to the extent that every little joke or act offends those that are offended by every little thing. My only complaint is that I would much rather see videos from different genres of music. I like that they include non-music videos, but all the music videos are either extremely poppy or rap. What's wrong with throwing some metal videos into the mix?? I don't think the music videos are really all that relevant to today's culture, let alone the culture of the original series. But that is just a small complaint.... I am very happy to binge watch all of the series. Now this is how you remake!

First Seson a 10, Second Season Less
jiszmo-131909 June 2023
The first season of this was amazing. It was easily a ten star show. It had everything a person could want from Beavis and Butthead. Combine their usual antics with social media videos. It is a good combination. I have nothing but praises for the first season.

That brings us to the second season. Right from the start something seemed off. The jokes were just weird. It's like it has different writers or something. The jokes often don;t land.

There are much more episodes than usual. I think the episode count, for this season, is in the teens. We never see that anymore.

The biggest problem I have is the music videos. Some of them are very questionable. I mean, VERY questionable. To make matters worse, Beavis and Butthead don't comment on it. That's their whole thing, is pointing out the absurdities in the videos. There are undressed guys in prison shaking their butts on each other, wearing pink prison outfits. No comment from our show runners. It's absurd. There are a few videos like this, throughout the econd season.

Anyways, I can no longer even recommend this show. It still has its moments. But it is ruined by wokeness.

The boys are back in town!
theeuglycasanvax18 September 2022
Growing up with the original show it's nice to see Mike Judge still has it. Sure the humor isn't for everyone but if its for you, it does feel like the original. Definitely had a few parts I was cracking up to. With so many shows going full woke and thus ruining the show entirely (Bye Simpsons, you had a good run) it's nice to see B&B still be hilarious without feeling like it was ever avoiding topics (even if there weren't many that a normal person could be offended by) while still getting into their trouble.

I certainly hope this becomes more than a one off reboot because this show is FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!

Good but videos could be better
pschmitty-355486 July 2023
The humor is there if not greater then the classics but I would like the "video reviews" while some YouTube stuff is fun,the music videos should tie in more with their tastes not just what's popular. More rock and metal as YouTube makes it easy to view stuff like that. I don't need to see pop stars that only kids know about. While I understand it relates to the younger generation but this show is probably more watched by older guys and gals who grew up on this stupid humor. But at the least, the episodes are hilarious. Beavis definitely steals the show. Again with an AC/DC and Metallica shirt let's bring back more if that. Headbangers ball doesn't exist anymore but VEVO does.

Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.
ersatz_cw25 August 2022
The charm of Beavis & Butt-Head was always about ripping on videos. That's where the humor and cultural insight (I know, it seems absurd) actually were. The cartoons themselves just never were that good or funny, let's face it.

This new series is just lackluster, at best. The first episode did give me a couple of good chuckles, but by the second one, my nostalgia had turned to irritation and disappointment and I was not really interested in watching more.

And the reality TV drivel they watch, like that annoying ASMR bit -- it's just not my thing and I'm not at all interested in any of it. I'm not into TikTok or YouTube personalities or whatever. I need B&B ripping on music videos, whether old or new, whatever kind of music, I really don't care.

Without that, this show is dead to me.

Mike Judge delivers more gold
vallabrache30 September 2022
Don't be fooled by your first impression of B&B. Behind the exterior of two extremely dumb teenagers making dumb jokes, is an intelligent sense of humor and strong wit thanks to Mike Judge's talent.

Very few comedy amuse me. It's not actually a genre I like that much due to the lack of quality I personally perceive there to be in the industry. I don't laugh often.

However the first episode alone of this new season had me genuinely laughing plenty of times. Not to mention Mike Judge's hilarious commentary on modern pop culture like YouTube videos and music videos. Very politically incorrect and very witty.

B&B is a classic - and many of the jokes are actually very original and relevant. There are plenty of stupid jokes too - so the broad range of guys are happy.

I'm 24 years old and still love this cartoon. That should say it all. One of the best cartoons to date. Buries Simpsons, Family Guy and Southpark. In its own realm.

As they say, don't judge a book by its cover.

Actually better than the original.
jayruffell8 January 2023
When I found out Paramount had made another season of Beavis and Butthead I was thrilled to hear.

The original series saw the two knuckle heads being extremely stupid and lounging about watching music videos, the show was a great way of seeing obscure bands and their music videos, often introducing me to bands I'd never heard of, I remember them reviewing Danzig How the gods kill and I was thinking what a great song I'll check them out, MTV struck gold in my opinion, great stoner show also if you enjoy weed.

The latest season however really is funny, catering to a modern audience by having beavis and butthead review streamers and influencers which is hysterical at times, the episode where they review the survivalist was absolutely amazing, it had my 58 year old mum laughing.

Highly ridiculous, crude experience which I thoroughly enjoyed.

FIRST SEASON : 8,3/10

I had never watched "Beavis and Butt-Head" series/movies. Now, i am looking forward to watch all of them because this is one of the most hilarious things i have watched the last 10 years. Maybe the funniest tv comedy series since PEEP SHOW (2003-2015) and NATHAN FOR YOU. There were many times i cried out of laughter. I couldn't believe how brilliant it was. Of course, it's not for everyone. For me, it was brilliant. Some people may find it dumb/vulgar/tasteless. I think this is a breath of fresh air. Nowadays, they can't create a pure comedy, movie or series. Everything must carry a message, it's all politics and hidden agendas. I am not apolitical, i have strong opinions about what's going on behind the scenes or about sociopolitical issues. And that's exactly the reason that, some times, i just want to entertain myself, without thinking about heavy stuff. Some times, i only need to laugh and feel good. And this tv series made me laugh a lot.

EDIT SECOND SEASON : 7,9/10 Second season is still hilarious, just slightly worse than the first.

Every episode of this new season is so funny. The reaction clips are always great, it's a nice little break inbetween episodes. Beavis and Butthead is one of the best shows out there, it makes me so happy. I really hope they keep making more seasons. I like the grown-up Beavis and Butthead episodes too; maybe we can get some when they are old seniors messing around in a nursing home or something. The kids hating in the reviews are mad because Beavis and Butthead ripped on their favourite garbage reality tv show in that one episode where in the clip they're giving eachother the diarrhea tattoos.

Thank you Mike Judge for your genius. Please don't stop.
