Beavis and Butt-Head (2022)
The boys are back in town!
Growing up with the original show it's nice to see Mike Judge still has it. Sure the humor isn't for everyone but if its for you, it does feel like the original. Definitely had a few parts I was cracking up to. With so many shows going full woke and thus ruining the show entirely (Bye Simpsons, you had a good run) it's nice to see B&B still be hilarious without feeling like it was ever avoiding topics (even if there weren't many that a normal person could be offended by) while still getting into their trouble.
I certainly hope this becomes more than a one off reboot because this show is FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!
Ricky Gervais: SuperNature (2022)
Pretty funny and good to see him again.
Nice to see Netflix not listening to the .1% complaining about comedy specials nobody is FORCING them to watch.
Except he totally stole the joke about not being attractive enough to be diddled as a kid from Always Sunny In Philadelphia.
Morbius (2022)
A new superhero low.
I've been a fan of Leto for awhile (Highway is great) but this is just a bad movie across the board. So predictable that you can pretty much figure out how it's all going to play out within the first 10 minutes. Nothing even close to standing out from any of the actors. Mostly though, the horrible overdone CGI is what makes it a bore. Almost every fight scene is exactly the same and half of that you can't even tell what's going on except *yep they're fighting again" due to the unnecessary amount of walls/floors/ceilings being destroyed that it just becomes a mess of "stuff" happening.
I'm sure we'll have to endure another 2 of these stinkers though because people insist on tossing cash at anything Marvel. Sad times..
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Absolutely mind blowing.
I could easily reach the text limit talking about good EVERY single aspect of this film is, because it is absolutely brilliant in every aspect. It is beyond a visual treat (if intense in some of the flashing parts) that will have you in a trance like state of "whoa". The entire cast is incredibly strong as well and their character shifts are quite impressive.
As a huge film buff who has watched basically everything I can, about halfway through I was already placing it in my top 5, and after that mark, where the emotion and hope and fear of the writing all comes into play...just wow. I'm sure some of the more physical humor (dildos) won't be for everyone and the general wackyness of it all could put some off, but I was mesmerized by it. Never before have I gone from crying from a mixture of love/fear/sadness/hope/loneliness/togetherness ALL AT ONCE to laughing hard while the tears were still coming. This movie is an EXPERIENCE and not just a movie. Thank you to everyone involved for making this.
Eden: Untamed Planet (2021)
Another amazing look at the planet.
I find Helena's voice to be fine, but then again I'm a fan of her acting. Learned about quite a free interesting creatures I had no clue existed. I also like the inside Eden but at the end that shows the behind the scenes of filming, pretty neat.
Fast Vengeance (2021)
An alright film. RIP DMX
Not really my type of film, but I watched it for DMX after his passing. I'm sure it will find it's fan base but it was overall forgettable.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Slightly interesting but mostly mundane.
The only new thing (at least to my knowledge) is the zombie heist idea. The rest has been done countless times before, and usually with a better cast. There just wasn't one character (except for the two main zombies) that I cared for even the slightest bit. I suppose if you like wrestling or just seeing a huge beefcake act ( I use that term lightly) like every other jarhead, you may enjoy this more. The traitor point was too blatantly obvious too early to be anything more than expected. Overall it's just something to stare at for 2 hours and to be glad it's new. Also did Michelle Rodriguez stop acting or something because I had gotten so used to seeing her in every badass military woman role that it felt like they just added (bland character here) to replace her.
