There are obviously a lot of very clear comparisons between this show and Severance both behind the scenes and then the final product that the viewer sees on the screen.

That is fine because I am never going to complain about there being less weird shows on the airwaves. They have a good and simple cast here with not too many side characters to distract from things, a mistake a lot of streaming networks make.

I also like the 8 episode format. There is plenty of story to tell, but if it goes on for longer than that you could lose sight of the point.

Comedy, mystery a great start for the new series.

All Over the Place

Game company developer is killed by a middle school kid in his office. The people that work at the company assume the place is out of business. When two of the employees come to the building at night, there is a strange man in a suit who says he is now in charge--sanctioned by the late boss. He is really strange and he is cruel. He's also lacking in emotions. There is a scene of male sex which makes no sense at all. The guy knows nothing about the product, not even that it is marketable. He fires a man because he doesn't like his smell and won't let a disabled woman come to work because she is a few seconds late and she is fired. The two featured stars are not invested in figuring out what is going on. The employees are being paid but have no idea what to do. I'll give this one more shot. So far it beyond bizarre.

Intriguing

This is an interesting first episode. There's a little bit of suspense, some attempts at comedy that didn't work out, some cliches but that still didn't prevent me from enjoying it. Christopher Waltz' experience and brilliant acting makes me think he can probably carry the show.

It's difficult to predict how will this story end. I can only hope it will have some originality, and perhaps more suspense. The chemistry between the characters isn't that solid I must say.

There are some elements or scenes that don't seem realistic, like the kid shooting a CEO. I live in the US and I know kids can carry guns sometimes, but I've never heard of a kid shooting a CEO - this would deserve some explanation at the minimum. Was the CEO related to the Kid? Also having anyone trample with a crime scene like Mr. RegUs PatOff did would land him in jail, but he wasn't even questioned.

Finally, it's for adults only.

No Immersion and very rough

I honestly have no idea where this is going and that's the only reason I'm continuing watching.

The pilot of this show starts off with characters that seem like someone's fantasy of how a game development company exists. Everyone comes across as a caricature that makes it seem like everything is anti-video game politics or a straw man. Patoff seems to be the only one who's actually acting as someone in the world and his character is made to look like he's some Usual Suspects knock off.

I'm hoping it's roughness of the first episode that are causing most of these issues.

Sound and music sets each scene well, but feels like a false push for tension when there is no immersion.

April Fool

This series really should have been released on April 1 instead of back in February. After viewing the last episode of 'The Consultant' I feel compelled to come back and comment on how Episode 1 should have progressed. As the first scene unfolds, after the CEO of a software gaming company is killed, two employees, one who was the CEO's assistant, inexplicably are at the company headquarters well before normal starting time, are confronted by a man in a suit who claims to have been hired by the now deceased CEO as a contract consultant. He somehow gained entrance to the premises after the previous employee entered and supposedly secured the door. He further claims to be in charge and requires all employees to be at work tomorrow (but really this morning) for an important meeting. At this point in time the CEO's assistant should have called the police to report the break-in by an unknown individual. When the police arrive they would take him into custody ignoring his contract of employment because the police don't adjudicate civil matters such as this, that is a matter for the courts. The producer, the directory and the script writer should come forward laughing announcing an "April Fools" prank. End of story; there are no further episodes.

Repulsive

The show started off with a vulgar and repulsive oral rape scene between the star of the show, and a male cast member. It felt incredibly inappropriate and seem to be put in in an intentional way to normalize the reprehensible behavior. The show would have potential, but the entirety of the show seems to be laced with an extreme lack of morals. There is lots of drug use, and unnecessary male nudity that seems to serve to humiliate the character. The show has a general icky feel to it. And I'm guessing the beginning of the show, specifically episode one served to add shock value to try and get people engaged. I like a variety of movies and don't typically leave reviews, but this one was bad enough that it warranted warning people. Would not recommend watching.
