Save yourself some time - don't bother watching this
chris_mclean-6043122 March 2023
This is a truly terrible movie. The acting is extremely wooden - if they'd employed high school drama students they would have done a better job. The plot was nothing but western action movie cliches, strung together one after the other, without any development of tension. The only point of the movie seemed to be to see if Ivan Turchin can be the next Arnold Schwarzenegger. And the answer is - No, he can't. While Arnie was wooden at times, he always appeared to have a sense of humor bubbling away in the background. This movie takes itself totally seriously, and it's so bad it isn't even funny.

Hahaha

East Texas is piney woods. The topography in this movie is more desert southwest. Could be west Texas, but no way is that east Texas.

That aside, I was expecting this movie to be a kind of a reboot of the John Wayne classic "Rio Bravo". It wasn't. Not really. The 2 movies do have similarities, but I don't think it could be considered a reboot.

I'm not a huge fan of westerns, but did like a few of the classics with The Duke and a few other classic western actors as well.

This movie was ok, I guess.

Now I'm just filling space in my review. I mean, who requires a minimum number of characters for a review. The administrator must be a high school English teacher.

Hell Hound Gang
nogodnomasters23 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The film starts in East Texas 1873 and is inspired by the life of Ivan Turchin, a Russian who fought in the American Civil War. He is a merchant living in the town of Blind Chapel near Rio Bravo which made the title confusing. He is introduced as a tough guy, but fair. A couple of Marshals bring in Ethan Crawley (Matthias Hues) the head of the Hellhound Gang. The mayor (Lee Dawson) doesn't want him in town because he knows the gang will come for him. The sheriff (Joe Cornet) allows him to stay. We know there will be that classical final confrontation of the gang vs. The town. Until that point we have a build up with a gang insider, fake Pinkerton agents, and Ivan explaining his checkered past.

The dialogue wasn't great and our Russian sounded like he studied acting from an Austrian named Arnold. The film was mostly Ivan staying cool while everyone else is in a panic and somehow how he never gets shot.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Just a bad cheap movie
zimmnat-7225420 March 2023
"Gunfight at Rio Bravo" is a forgettable western flick that fails to deliver on any level. The plot is stale and predictable. The characters are poorly developed and lack any depth or complexity, making it impossible to care about their fates.

The acting is wooden and uninspired, with lead actor giving a lackluster performance that feels like he's just going through the motions. The supporting cast is forgettable and interchangeable, with no one standing out as memorable or interesting.

The action sequences are poorly choreographed and lack any real tension or excitement. The gunfights are unremarkable and lack any sense of danger or risk, making them feel like a cheap imitation of better westerns.

The dialogue is clichéd and uninspired, filled with tired one-liners and predictable exchanges. The attempts at humor fall flat and feel forced, adding nothing to the overall experience.

The production values are low, with cheap sets and uninspired cinematography. The music is forgettable and fails to add anything to the film.

Overall, "Gunfight at Rio Bravo" is a dull and forgettable western that fails to deliver on any level. It's a movie that you'll forget as soon as it's over, and one that's not worth your time or money.

It's just bad bad bad movie...
natashabr25 January 2023
OMG... Are you kidding me???? This is the worst western I've ever seen in my life!!!!! I really don't understand where come all these 10-ratings from, are you people blind and deaf? It seems to me that all the reviews were written by professionals and sent by e-mail to all the friends of Nevsky, in purpose to copy-paste them and post on IMDB.

Pathetic and helpless acting and directing, bad costumes, lack of any interesting film editing, empty lines and dialogues - this movie feels like laundering the black money for Russian mafia (kidding, still want to live) :)) The only actor that did some good work on set was Matthias Hues (still looking good low budget movies actor), all the rest of cast, including Nevsky, was terrible. They didn't even have enough material to make this failure a bit longer...

I didn't see any "outstanding performances", any "really good bunch of talented actors", any "thoroughly depicted historical scenes", any "fantastic landscapes"... I didn't hear any of "Quentin Tarantino-style dialogues", any "fantastic music", any good work of sound department, any interesting intonation at all... Ilya Naishuler was mentioned in one of the reviews, but I'm sure he would cry upon this movie and amount of money Nevsky spilled on it. And I wonder what it would be if Tarantino was reading these reviews he was mentioned in.

I know what is the category called B-movie. And I love those movies! But this so called western isn't even close to this category!

It's just bad bad bad movie...

Gouge out my eyes

If this is a comedy film, then it's great!

It is simply impossible to take such a game of actors seriously, shots and wounds look like effects were made in the application on the phone.

The main character is trying to be serious, but he is so unnatural that it only causes a facepalm.

There is one dialogue in the film with a hint of seriousness, but it would be better if it wasn't there.

In general, no need to waste time on this pathetic movie. Better read the reviews of this movie, it will be more useful and funny.

The only good thing about this movie is i wanted to rewatch the original RIO...

most terrible western movie
mrsaksa12 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
First of all this movie has nothing to do with the great movie Rio Bravo from Howard Hawks with John Wayne and Dean Martin . It is like a Rambo in Western style , with very lousy acting and dialogs. Everyone can write a better script and act better , then this movie offer . The movie miss logic , a few old guys( nothing against elderly, I am myself one ) who then want to be the young bad guys. Is there a reason to watch the movie, well maybe the 3 beautiful woman in it , but even those 3 young woman act so bad , might there first and last one . It is so bad that in 10 years it might be special.

A modern classic
tilindir24 January 2023
Inspiring, colourful and exciting film from well-known and respected filmmaker, director, writer, bodybuilder, Mr. Universe triple winner, Golden Globe reviewer, etc, etc. The new dawn of westerns appears before us in this fabulous movie, where one can see a really good bunch of talented actors, fantastic landscapes and professionally reconstructed Wild West town, thoroughly depicted historical scenes and outstanding performances. Drawn from timeless classics like Eastwood's series, "Gunfight at Rio Bravo" shows a lot respect for prior generations, but also great potential for future sequels. Hail to Alexander!

Was it meant to be Blazing Saddles?
gary-9267716 July 2023
This is a comedy Western.....isn't it? Surely it's not meant to be serious. The dialogue and acting are indeed laughable but the writers forgot to add the intentional jokes and left in the unintentional ones. Every cliche, every plot point, every character, every attempt at conveying emotion.....all been done before and better.

The multi-lingual cast may be fantastic actors in their natural language. But if they have learnt this dialogue phonetically, as appears to have happened with this movie, it really doesn't help the action or the story.

You know the phrase "so bad it's good"? Doesn't apply- it's so bad, it's worse.

Solid for a low budget Western.
csparty-7809828 June 2023
Im a big Western fan so I indulge in some of the low budget films. This one is better then most. Very basic story but one that has worked well over the years. A good pace with lots of action - no big special effects but some enjoyable action scenes. There was decent acting and characters you bond with. All this packed into 80 minutes. Very enjoyable if you go in with an open mind and view it for what it is. If you under some delusion that this low budget TUBI movie is going to be a classic - well of course you will be disappointed. All in all for me it was an enjoyable experience and would recommend this to any Western fan.

A Fistful of Rubles
dverno21 January 2023
A worthy successor to the classic spaghetti westerns. Innovative action meets history in a small town where quiet life is disrupted by intruders. The main character is not as vulnerable as the hero of Clint Eastwood, so you really worry about him. Excellent Stanislavsky-style acting, Quentin Tarantino-style dialogue, action sequences inspired by the work of Chad Stahelski and Ilya Naishuler, suspense builds with every minute of the film and culminates in a stunning climax in which justice triumphs. I am sure that an exciting movie franchise awaits us in the future. I did not believe that the Russian could make a great western.

Mixed genre of Terminator at Rio Bravo
su-4922 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Well, I kind of enjoyed the film. ) Though it is not perfect. The main problem, in my view, it is mixed genre.

If it is an Action Thriller for adults then following parts are well done:
  • cruelty and atrocity scenes;
  • death and loss scenes;
  • fight scenes;
  • acting of some actors is pretty decent.

If it is an Hero Adventure for kids then following parts are perfectly well done:
  • plot simple as nail;
  • Alexander Nevsky, notorious for awkward acting, intentionally playing Terminator (by the way, if he plays it intentionally and everyone got it, does it mean that he is a good actor?);
  • Nevsky's character beats Rey from Star Wars as Mary Sue. Singlehandedly (in the fight he had not even a scratch);
  • dialogs on the level of 5th year of school (I wonder how actors in the scenes managed to keep serious faces);
  • eclectic costumes, some of which hardly distinguishable from modern wear (kids don't care much about such stuff anyway!);
  • over the top acting of some actors (in that way kids can better understand characters);
  • one dimentional characters (there could be some cause or motivation for bad guys explaining their cruelty and attrocities to the vilagers -- the same terror and shock tactics of North in the Civil War, for example. And there could be inner conflict for both sides. But for kids it is too complex and boring! Evil guys should be just evil);
  • no arcs of characters at all (exept those who were killed -- they've got their lesson!);
  • easy happy end (though, they killed Kenny again, the ba stards!);
  • too clean and modern and well-nourished look of some characters (it is easier for kids to imagine themselves in hero's place);
  • special props that play no role in the plot at all (the 1980-s heavy metal jacket -- is it a prototype of a buletproof jacket, which gives the hero an advantage in pistol street fjght? Nop! Kids do not buy it!).

So, I give the movie the grade it deserves: 10/10. ) And you may ask: "Wow, wow, wow! Wait a minute! I thought you've mention at least some problems with the film?!" Yeah... but I hope, that the film crew do some error check and can fix some problems. Please, do! ) So they need a chance.

The movie has a good potential, but still seems like an unfinished product.

Better than he "featured review" here might lead you to believe
Izzy_Z28 January 2023
Let me start with the fact that I personally do NOT like Alexander "Nevsky", or whatever his real name might be, either as an actor, or a person, mostly due to the fact that he's so full of himself it's almost comical. And yes, up until now, I don't remember seeing him in anything other than (lower grade) B-rate material. (Disclaimer: myself being a connoisseur of SyFy originals AND/OR not liking the very mentioned A. Schwartzenegger either, or, say, S. Stallone having some roles he doesn't want you to know). But who cares about it as long as this particular film is perfectly watchable and enjoyable in the finest spaghetti western tradition. I can't find any obvious flaws with its direction, acting, dialogue, music, camera work, etc. Everything looks solid, and the film being rather short, is a plus in my view, as I am SO tired fast forwarding through 3-hour dribble so common these days. Can't wait for the sequel.

That's great!
garudadas-2135630 January 2023
This is the best movie I've seen in the last 20 years! When my family and I watched this wonderful movie, we cried, but not from grief, but from blissful ecstasy. We thanked the Lord God that we live in the same world with Alexander. Yesterday we were in the church and asked the priest to canonize Alexander during his lifetime. Today they began to paint icons with the face of Alexander Nevsky the Blessed. Alexander is a Prophet of our time. His purity, His divinity heals people. We have His image on the altar. Even now, as I write these lines, I am overwhelmed with a feeling of divine ecstasy. Alexander the Blessed is a Saint!

Worth watching for the lead actor
sto-7244623 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The plot is not the most original and basically predictable, but the main actor is so organic in this role that I got incredible pleasure from watching.

In general, we have seen many films with a similar plot, but usually the events unfold in the modern world. The best example is the attack on the police station. However, for some reason, I remembered "The Magnificent Seven" and "Seven Samurai", and I'll tell you why - the main actor. And in this film, he is no less textured and memorable than Yul Brynner in The Seven. I want to look at him again and again! The whole text and emotions fit him so well that it feels like Alexander was brought from the wild west in a time machine in order to make this film.

Must-see for fans of the Western genre
goryn-2937725 January 2023
Gunfight at Rio Bravo is a thrilling Western film that tells the story of a mysterious gunslinger who comes to the aid of a marshal and a sheriff in their standoff against a ruthless outlaw gang known as The Hellhounds. The film is a well-crafted blend of action, drama, and suspense that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats from start to finish. The performances by the cast, particularly Alexander Nevsky in the lead role, are top-notch and add depth to their characters. The cinematography is also noteworthy, capturing the harsh beauty of the Texas landscape and the intense action sequences. Overall, Gunfight at Rio Bravo is a must-see for fans of the Western genre, and a well-made film that showcases Nevsky's acting and film making capabilities.

Good job Mr.Nevsky
watep-5574125 January 2023
A good short story about a small town and not a bad guy. I do not like films of this genre, but I watched this one in the same breath. The story kept me in suspense. The tie is excellent. Dialogues should have been more elaborate. Interesting character Marshall (Olivier Grunner), I hope his story will be revealed in the next film. What can I say about the work of Alexander and director Joe Cornet, the film is really not bad and you don't want to turn it off after 10 minutes. The secondary characters are interesting, but it would be cool to reveal more of their stories/backstories. The fact that the main character is based on a historical figure is very cool. Before this film, I did not know about General Turchin.

Nevsky, Gruner and Hues...Oh My !
guestar-494653 May 2023
Big fan of Nevsky and his attempts at tributes to the films he grew up loving and the heroes who starred in them.

Joe Cornet who also directed does ok turn as heroic costar.

Olivier Gruner as a traveling lawman turns in a journeyman job, But not given much to do.

Mattias Hues is amazing as captured bD guy and rallies at the end to chew all scenery , steal scenes and pretty become the reason to watch till the end.

Was hoping setting these three in the Wild West wasn't a mistake, It wasn't at all, In fact they seem in their element and would bring back " Spaghetti Westerns" in another Era.

Congrats Nevsky ,& Co. Ya done good.

The new school of westerns
dasychevstud27 January 2023
The emotions that this film gives you are truly strong and fresh. The play of the main actor is on top, I even cried at the end (whoever watched understands). The plot kept in suspense to the last, my favorite film with Nevsky. Even the minor characters evoke a huge amount of empathy - thanks to the excellent sets, costumes and attention to detail. The GUN FIGHTS are stunning and really global. The girls around main character are really beautiful and talented actresses. The amount of talent in the film is amazing! A great start to the year is impossible without this film, many thanks to Alexander and his team for their work.

All around good Western!
ashleers30 January 2023
Really enjoyed this film! Just good western fun. Classic- good guys against the bad guys and save the town. And love that it's based on a true story.

All the main characters were great!

Alexander Nevsky, the main character. Fun to see a Russian Cowboy. Almost had an Arnold Schwarzenegger in terminator vibe.

Olivier Gruner, the sidekick. Enjoyed him.

Joe Cornet, sheriff and director- super impressed with both his acting and directing.

Matthias Hues, the bad guy- great acting and actor selection. He felt evil.

Natalie Denise Sperl, the nurse- great acting. Felt her empathy as a nurse and her strength as the strongest woman.

Lee Dawson, Mayor- great acting. Funny and ridiculous.

The music was really great too. I loved all the tension it brought to this film. 10 stars for the score/music production.

Warning: Spoilers
Fantastic films. Great. Bravo Alexander!!!! Excellent movie. Best music. Olivier and Matthias - best actors. Acting at the highest level, everything is plausible, we need to shoot more such films with the participation of these actors, in Russia Alexander is a very famous actor and of course he is Mr. , famous blogger. Great musical performance, could go on to praise but give too little context to describe. The direction and processing of the film exceeds all expectations, I watched the film in the cinema, I look forward to continuing the films with his participation from the leading actor,Best of the best !!!!!

Western genre reborn with the promissing acting and directing
concepteur29 January 2023
Trying to avoid spoilers i tell you what's cool in this will-be-cult movie and why must be in your media library.

+ based on rarely known but signigicant true story, which the russian accent of Mr. Nevsky perfectly fits + with so much shooting and low budjet nobody hurt behing the scenes (nice job, Mr. Baldwin shall contact the crew for future works) + no dumb dialogs or tricks with villains. Just see and shoot this badass + respect to old actors and references to cult players (Jocker, Terminator, Easwood) + natural cliffhanger for sequel.

Last but not least: the way the main character walks. And its counterpart: the way the main villain sits most time of the plot.

Bad Dead Redemption
kergaev28 January 2023
"The Attack on Rio Bravo" is the most long-awaited picture for me personally this year. At first I wanted to write that one of the two most long-awaited, along with "Avatar: the way of water", but it would still be cunning: after all, the work of A. Nevsky is perceived much closer, more native than D. Cameron, and the duration of "Avatar-2" in 3 + hours loses compared to vigorous 80 minutes of "Attack".

This time Alexander Nevsky, with his characteristic determination, went to master a new genre for himself - western. When it first became known that Alexander was preparing a film about the times of the Wild West, it caused some confusion, because usually in his films the action takes place in modern times, and traditionally, Alexander's hero has Russian roots, regardless of the place of action, be it Manila, Los Angeles or Vegas. It seemed that this time the tradition would be interrupted, but it was not there. The prudent Alexander picked up a historical prototype in the person of a brigadier general of the army of the Northerners of Russian (!) origin Ivan Turchaninov, which was a pleasant surprise.

Unfortunately, it cannot be said that the storyline was pleased with surprises. The scenario turned out to be very typical for the genre - a clash of law enforcement officers with bandits, replete with shooting, ending with the defeat of the latter. The absence of unexpected twists is all the more surprising because the author of the script was Craig Heymann, the screenwriter of Quentin Tarantino, who had previously performed well in conjunction with Alexander when working on the "Showdown in Manila". In addition to the generally straightforward plot, the line of the main villain also limps, who sits in the camera for almost the entire film and is released only for the final duel with the hero of Nevsky. Due to the absence of any obvious background, the game of nerves before shooting looks far-fetched. It should be said that in terms of choosing an actor for the role of the main antagonist, Alexander is true to himself again - the villain is played by the audience's favorite "bad guy" from "Manila", "Maximum Impact" and "Black Rose" Matthias Hughes. In general, it is very gratifying that Nevsky finds roles for his old acquaintances, this time Hughes and Olivier Gruner were noted. It's a pity that I couldn't see other regulars Robert Madrid and Andrew Divoff on the screen, but Joe Cornet, who made his debut at Nevsky, turned out to be a real find, was very convincing in the role of the sheriff, and, as it seems, generally played the best of all.

Camerawork in places leaves much to be desired, especially shooting indoors, but the views are great, and in combination with voice acting, they make you remember episodes of Red Dead Redemption at all. Also, analogies with RDR suggested themselves when the hero of Nevsky demonstrated accurate shooting at bandits alternately from a revolver, from a gun, again from a revolver, with a phenomenal speed of changing weapons and the ability to hide rifles unknown where.

By the way, in addition to introducing the Russian hero into the plot and inviting regulars to the supporting roles, A. Nevsky managed to observe another of his signature features, namely, to curtsy towards his prototype Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the episode when the hero of Nevsky is asked "Where did you study?", there was a complete illusion that he would answer "At the police school in Kiev" in the voice of Schwartz - Ivan Danko from "Red Heat". Actually, he almost answered like that: "In a military school." We hope Arnold will appreciate the next creation of his main Russian popularizer.

It is impossible not to note the improvements in the game of Nevsky himself. This was partially facilitated by a decrease in the number of hand-to-hand fights and in general, moments where the hero needs to show emotions, but it's not just that, it's clear that Alexander is working on himself. Of course, he is not destined to be Marlon Brando, but at least it is possible to approach Dwayne Johnson. Also, the legendary "hodbaaa" is practically absent in the film, except for the senseless fight between a bandit and a Pinkertons agent, one can recall from the moments of delaying the timing.

Summarizing, the audience was presented with a primitive, but dynamic western, which could be called with all grounds an absolutely passing film, if not for the personality of its creator and the performer of the main role. Life demonstrates amazing paradoxes - not so long ago, Evgeny Bazhenov's reviews and his subscribers smeared Nevsky's films into mush, but now the same subscribers were looking forward to the release of "Attack" and, it seems, sincerely supported Alexander. This is a significant merit of E. Bazhenov himself, who, after all the mockery of Nevsky, clearly demonstrated what a really crappy movie is (see Kakha), compared to which Alexander's paintings seem like masterpieces.

And undoubtedly, many viewers simply sincerely missed Alexander, his "Galywood blockbusters", his accent, his simple plots, his typical clumsy roles, and most importantly, those carefree times when his next film could be discussed with pleasure for weeks and months.

Absolutely the best!
stormheart-5192131 January 2023
Of course I am joking. It is Nevsky but the movie is good. You can watch if for free but I don't reccomend to go to theatre but pls rate it high.

The guy is really improving and the overall message of the movie is really good.

I wish there was more action, gun fights were rather small and more narrative. And of course costumes could have been better but overall the movie is good. It ain't not much worse than train to Yuma and you got to love to see Olivier Gruner and Mattias Hughes.

In regards to girls: yeah, they should bring more well known actresses but still the story is good and you won't regret watching it.

So Must Watch. Absolutely! Absolutely! Absolutely! Vot Tak Vot!

Absolutely great film
germashenko1 February 2023
I must say that this is perfect spagetti western!

Have to say that this film made a very positive impression on me. A very good game of the main actors, a very cool plot, and in principle the film itself was shot very high quality point you are immersed in the atmosphere of the Wild West where there is a shootout and a fight between bandits and sheriffs. This is without a doubt one of the best western movies in modern times. And i would really like to send to see a direct comparison of this movie with django unchained.

A modern director needs to learn how to make real films.

I recommend watching this movie not once or twice, but it is better to watch this movie three times at once.
