This movie is a very good example of how a bad ending bit can ruin the whole experience of watching one of the best korean intense drama.

Warning: Spoilers
From the start upto the last 10 minutes the movie was really good. It was a little slow paced, but you would like it, if you love intensely dramatic scenes. But the last 10 minutes of the movie just ruined the whole experience of me. The ending climax is not upto the level the whole movie has set earlier.

People are saying here that it is open ended. But in my view it isn't. The movie clearly shows that the relationship between two lead characters has ended and they are going on their different paths. But the most vital thing this movie doesn't show is "But, Why".

For me, It is just like watching a crime drama movie. In which at the end you know who is the murderer, but the movie doesn't show you the "motive" behind the murder.

The story so deeply touched me

Warning: Spoilers
I couldn't hold my tears when it over. The most important thing has come in her life, and Josee didn't regret had let love free. She has the power to make her recollections just reality and live in. The story so deeply touched me. In its homeland, the movie had a great success because of the top professionals who created it.

Cheasier than the Japanese version

Overall it was a good 7.5 movie.

The storyline is a bit discontinuous, but the peculiarities in the characters are reserved.

All in all, good vibes.

A Longing Mental Picture in a Realistic World
kindredparadox20 August 2021
Boy helps disabled girl who fell from her wheelchair. Girl paybacks with cooked food in her house. That's how they meet.

Realism. That is what in the writer mind to be realized. Girl is a fragile mind. Boy is a non confrontational. Both characters hinder what could have been.

Maybe I will not conform to the mass, by saying this one is very well paced. Not as slow as most people think. It's because almost every scenes speak to how I felt in those situations. So when those were added to the build up to monumental scenes. They're just heart touching.

Sadly this was just too slow paced and rather monotonous...
paul_haakonsen30 July 2021
I must admit that I had expected a lot more from the 2020 movie "Josée" from writer Seiko Tanabe and director Jong-kwan Kim.

Now, don't get me wrong here, because I am not saying that "Josée" is a bad movie or anything. It just didn't deliver what I was expecting it to. Sure, the movie is watchable and all, but it was just somewhat very monotonously paced and sort of confusing.

Director Jong-kwan Kim leaves a lot of imagery in the movie up for the audience to interpret upon, for better or worse. So depending on whether you like movies that don't serve you all the answers on a silver plate or not, then you might find some enjoyment in "Josée".

I will say that there were definitely some touching moments in the movie, just as there were confusing moments that often left me wondering what was actually going on in the storyline.

"Josée" is amazingly well carried by the two leads, that being Han Ji-min (playing Josée) and Nam Joo-Hyuk (playing Yeong-Suk). They had really good chemistry together on the screen, and they individually and together delivered some really emotional and believable performances. And I will say that their performances alone is actually sufficient reason for sitting down to watch the movie.

Now, I wasn't as entertained as I had hoped I would be when this movie came to an end. And while "Josée" was watchable, it just didn't strike me as an overly memorable movie. Nor is it a movie that I will return to watch a second time, as the storyline was just too vague and thin for such.

I am rating "Josée" a bland five out of ten stars.

One of the best slow burn Korean films I've ever seen...
davidvincentwolf27 February 2021
This was an amazing film on several levels, but the performances of both main actors really drew you in and made you feel like you were a witness to what they were experiencing their lives during their time together. I'm a fan of both actors, but especially Han Ji-min, and the incredible range & diversity of characters she's played to perfection astonishes me, with this being no exception. I suspect that most people will either really love this film or some may find it boring or depressing. Personally, I've already watched it three times in the short time it's been available and I get something new out it each time. In many ways, it's one of the most atypical love stories you will ever see, but without giving any spoilers here, I think in retrospect, the film ends neither happy nor sad, but in the only way that felt genuine & real. I highly recommend this film for someone looking a tale of romance, but something a little different.

Suberb cinematography, sound design and acting!! All the twists and metaphors made me reflect for days. It may look dark and slow but the details subject for your own interpretation were actually overwhelming so I was not bored.

A must watch Movie!
jksingh-761326 October 2021
Not sure why this movie didn't receive high ratings! This is a brilliant movie! Nam Joo Hyuk, I have no words to describe him and his acting. He is a actor "par excellence".

His eyes conveyed love, happiness, hurt and guilt!

A story that leaves a lingering impression
b0ser8 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I have so much to say abt the josée film but to give a brief, josée is a well collected film, it started in a slow pace romance but that's what makes it feel so real, you'll feel like you're watching the real life story of josée and youngseok- the two characters in the film, as both delivers such a phenomenal performance in portraying subtle emotions, and detailed acting. Its gorgeous cinematography evokes the mood a scene aims to delineate as well as its music. Han Jimin and Nam joohyuk's strong perfomances leave such lingering impressions as they gave a committed and fully immersed portrayal in their characters as josée and youngseok- both incredibly expressed the romantic relationship blossoming between ppl who lives differently, the contrasting perspectives and unlikely romance built up as josée grew up immersing herself into her own made-up lil world and fascinating imaginations through books while youngseok came forth genuinely trying to understand her lil world of fantasy.... it's devastating to know that it ended in an abrupt note, leaving me wondering what had actually happened that brought them to part ways but perhaps, it's not meant to trigger the whys but an answer to the what ifs- offering a comfort nonetheless as their love is pure and no one can take away that, it's just the art of being independent and finally moving on that reigns.

Beautiful and heartbreaking
meganjuliee6 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A really beautiful but heartbreaking movie with two lead actors who have clearly put their everything into portraying their characters. Some may think that its mundane but I think that's what makes it so real. It is not dramatised at all which made it so human and beaitiful, it really felt like we were watching the hardest, happiest and purest moments in their life together. I cannot praise Nam Joohyuk and Han Jimin enough.

Stunning. Captivating. Must-watch
fpkvbcjmj26 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was really worth watching. The sound, editing, directing were all spot on. This was an adaptation of a short story and its a 2hr film so I'm not surprised with how slow the pace of the story is. I thought I'd fall asleep in the middle of it but I was mesmerized by both Jimin and Joohyuk, excellent actors.

About the story, yes its not your typical happy ending romantic film. In fact, its so realistic and it makes more sense that it ended that way. I understood that they will still love each other even when apart. Thumbs up!

What's real?
liedtkepaulina7 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This movie invites the audience to an active interpretation - not only of the emotions and intentions of the characters, but also of the actual plot. Is the depicted event "real"? Is it her imagination? Is is his imagination? It also leaves you asking, what is more important: being free or being loved? Is it possible to have a relationship that is free from a power struggle? Why does the main character identify with that particular novel character, Josée?

The impact of this movie is so strong because of great acting, matching music and beautiful cinematography. I recommend it to people who enjoy some food for thought.
