I wanted to like this movie until I didn't. What a shame.
manuelasaez20 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoy a slow burn. I also enjoy films that are set in one location. I also really enjoy films that are purposefully ambiguous and keep the audience in the dark for most of the film. Unfortunately, I enjoy these things when they are DONE PROPERLY BY COMPETENT PEOPLE. This movie was not made by competent people. It was made by people who don't watch movies, horror or otherwise. Why else would they bother making such a purposefully obtuse film?

It begins with a family "trapped" in the bathroom. I say "trapped" because, really, who builds a house where the bathroom is the most impenetrable room? 6 feet of wall? Tempered glass for windows? This isn't the damn Congressional building. It's a house, and to think having a family trapped in the most ridiculous location was bad enough, it just continues to get worse.

We have an unhinged husband, a useless/scared wife, a horrible daughter and a son too young to really do anything interesting throughout most of the film. Then comes the flashbacks of the daughter doing horrible things with an equally horrible person, and apparently those things are what set the events of the movie in motion.

In the end, I was left with SO MANY QUESTIONS, but did I actually care for the answers? So it wasn't really a storm; What was it? The apocalypse? Did the girls summon a demon? What was the "good boy"? Why didn't they start chipping away at the walls from the first day? Who builds a bathroom with a solid oak door? Why wasn't this movie made by better people, and how was it not shredded to bits by focus groups before it was released?

Ultimately, it's not a movie anyone will remember in a few years, and anyone who does will not have fond memories of it. It's a waste of a good premise and with a truly competent team, would have been something worth talking about.

In the end, I wasted and hour and 40 minutes of my life and wrote this review to save you the trouble of doing the same. If I can keep even one person from watching this, I would have done the Lord's work.

I gave it 3 stars because the "good boy" scene was genuinely creepy. That's about it it.

Don't understand the good reviews.
hecdal8 September 2021
I didn't expect this movie to be great. But I thought it would at least be entertaining, or have something that it would build up to. It starts out OK, but it just kept getting worse as it went on. I hoped that the ending would make up for all of this, but instead it had a terrible ending, if you would even call it that.

Family is everything
dschmeding4 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Let me give you my interpretation of this movie... In a world of selfharming goth witches, tornados that blow trees inside of buildings, rattlesnakes and giant speaking dogs losing their tongues like lizard tails even the most dysfunctional family with an alcoholic father drinking mouthwash, a cheating mother and a daughter picking at wounds from black rituals downloaded from weird websites is still a safe haven in a grisly world when they happen to own a giant bathroom with unbreakable windows.

That is the best i can do because until the end of this movie this was the most incoherent and ludicrous boredom i came across in a long time. Its one of those "a hand full of persons is trapped in an isolated setting to keep the budget low" movies that tries to be mysterious all through its endless playing time but does so in the most unentertaining way just to leave you hanging in the end. There was something in this movie that could have been good but it just went overboard trying to be too artsy and making the horror scenes often look like they were trying to make fun of clichées or their own silly ideas.

If i could go back in time, i definitly would have chosen a different movie to watch.

You Need to Pass on this One
arfdawg-115 September 2021
Starts off pretty OK and looks like it might be a keeper.

But early on withteh first flashback things take a turn and the movie starts to suck.

The acting is only marginally good but the father is horrible. He's abrassive without reason and becomes more and more annoying with his over the top bad acting.

Soon the movie is nothing more than tedious.

Then we find out it wasnt just a tornado. Something more sinister is happening. But by this time you won't care. Plus, it's not all that interesting.

No need to watch this crap. It's really bad.

Yes, we really need to do something...
Angry_Santa4 September 2021
We need to do something about every Tom, Dick and Harry with a video camera thinking they're capable of making a watchable movie.

We need to do something about vanity producers creating and enlisting shill accounts to pile praise onto their monstrosities through fake reviews and ratings.

What the...what???
foreversmom5 September 2021
I know that everyone is use to seeing the "what the hell did I just watch" review, but seriously.... WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST WATCH? I am fairly certain that I have never left a review with those words, but for this movie it is definitely warranted! I have never complained about spending $6.99 to watch a movie, but I would have rather spent the money on ANYTHING else. $7 worth of dirt, sure why not?!? Honestly, I would have rather sat in my own bathroom watching paint dry for 96 minutes!

I don't want to leave any spoilers for those of you who decide to watch this film, but I suggest watching anything else. There is really nothing good I can say about it other than I'm glad it's over. You can't even blame Covid for this mess!

One of the dumbest, most one-dimensional, uncreative "horror" movies I've sat through
selfdestructo11 September 2022
Look at the title! That's just some random inconsequential line from early on in the movie.

Let's see, some things I REALLY like in a horror movie: Confined/claustrophobic location. Limited cast. The cast is all doomed! Supernatural element. Witchcraft. I would also consider myself a fan of Pat Healy.

What went oh so wrong? Limitations (funny enough, these are usually an asset in low budget horror), a complete lack of creativity, and a lack of effort to follow anything through. Makes for a very tedious watch.

I don't know how much more one-dimensional all the characters in this movie can be. They behave exactly how you expect them to behave throughout the running time. Each character is written to basically have one trait. Ok, maybe the girl (the sole source of flashbacks) goes from surly, to scared, to sad, and back to scared. I think that's the only thing that could even be considered a character arc in this whole mess. And, boy, that's a stretch.

A family of four hole themselves up in their bathroom as the result of a storm. A tree blocks the door. The daughter's inane flashbacks follow her lesbian relationship, and the two of them cast a spell they found on the internet. Chaos ensues outside the bathroom as a result, only these filmmakers don't feel the audience is privy enough to be allowed to know what's actually going on. We hear noises. A snake torments them. Daughter pulls a tongue from outside the door... and everyone eats it.

It's actually offensive how these filmmakers are treating their audience. They shelter your eyes from anything that might be of interest, they refuse to give these characters anything to do (well, they give them ONE thing), and offer no form of resolution. Literally, why am I watching this? It is a complete hollow shell of a movie, and I hope the writer and director never work again.

For a good laugh, read some of the raves quoted on the box.

The ending and bad acting are the biggest problems
gedikreverdi10 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It actually started off OK. I like such claustrophobic films where people got stuck in such spaces which is a bathroom during a tornado in this case. The daughter and her girlfriend who used to be a cutter put a spell on some guy by ripping off the tongue from the dead dog that's buried in their backyard. It was really gross and intriguing. Then the father had mental breakdowns every 15 minutes or so which became a bit too annoying. The son got bit by a rattlesnake and died. The daughter saw his dead body with maggots in the bathtub and it was really creepy. She got attacked by the dog thru the jammed door and she ate some of the ripped tongue. The daughter then killed her annoying father and then the mother found a way out and she was shocked and something attacked the two. I wish we could see what's outside and does it have to do with her girlfriend. The payoff was very weak and it should have been at least twenty minutes shorter than it is. The biggest problem was the bad acting though.

Missed Opportunity
atractiveeyes8 September 2021
It's good and unique but also flawed. It has a dark crazy atmosphere with some disgusting and disturbing scenes. Story at first seems intriguing but then gets stupid. The mom's performance is bad. All in all, it's a fun original indie horror but it's full of nonsense.

So bad it's offensive
hlnmcgu6 September 2021
Vulgar script. Unbelievable screenplay The film is billed as a horror movie. I thought it was more a failed attempt at black comedy. I had to turn it off before it ended because I was cringing from the embarassing awful dialogue.

Some of y'all need to chill and just feel the horror...
miraclejoy52424 April 2022
I'm just not sure when it is that people stopped remembering that we watch a horror movie...to be horrified ...for the experience..... I'm going through all these reviews that are full of upset over unanswered questions and questionable acting.

To that I'll say: it was the constant uncertainty and crazy acting that did it for me early on.

Considering the global pandemic and all that has come with it, I was sucked in and suffocating in dread 20 minutes in. I found myself looking around the room I was in, wondering how I would get out if I had to.

Sure, a lot more could have been done with certain aspects- I get that sometimes it makes for a better experience to get smart backstories and breakdowns and explanations... but this movie doesn't need to do that to horrify you.

You ever been hungry? I mean, really hungry? Now think about being hangry, suffering through withdrawal symptoms, slowly but surely losing your mind and your only food source is raw. Bloody. Maybe human. That alone has me creeped out.

This will also hit hard if you've experienced domestic hardships- especially where kids are involved.

That may be the part that got me the most.

So, yeah, pretty good horror movie for SURE.

It does its job.

Has just enough going for it.
benjaminskylerhill5 September 2021
There is a surprising amount of things to love about this film: claustrophobic tension, effective mystery that spaces it's reveals and twists out perfectly, great performances from almost the entire cast, complex familial drama that makes the tension more engaging, and near-perfect pacing.

That being said, this story has so many great aspects that the ending is crushed underneath their weight. The film ends feeling unfinished; so many compelling themes are abandoned, characters not given closure, and questions not answered.

What happened here? They sure need to do something, all right: finish the script! I was loving it and I feel cheated.

Yep, They Needed to Do something...
mochteam27 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Like come up with a better ending. This movie was terrible from start to finish. Bad acting, bad plot, bad ending it's all here. Anytime your audience has to google the explanation for an ending you know it's a bad movie that never explained itself very well.

The movie at times is very cartoonish and then becomes serious and then becomes cartoonish again. There's a scene where the father is beating the mother with a snake after biting its head off like "Ozzy".

Outside of that is the story told in flashbacks of teenage lesbian romance twilight style. Then it switches to the present day story that's equally as uninteresting. A dysfunctional family trapped in a bathroom for what only seems like 72hours and they all begin to loose their sanity in one way or another.

But wait there's something happening outside what is is? Is it war of the worlds? Did the GhostBusters Containment Unit get shut off again? We never know only that it's something bad.

This movie sucks.

We Need To Do Anything But Watch This Movie
aarpcats11 December 2021
Actual tornadoes are far more terrifying than this movie is, and it's a pity that the film squanders that idea,

The sky turns green, the air smells of ozone, the wind rages overhead, and the sirens scream. Typically, you sit with your family in a hot, unventilated bathroom (a tenth the size of the one in the movie) making jokes and trying to keep the kids quiet while praying you won't take a direct hit. You think of every stray tree branch, whether the hail will smash your windows and roof, and think of the times you have seen an entire town leveled to dirty grass after an F-5. Everyone has a charged phone, and it is tuned to the local tv station. As soon as it hits, people begin digging through the rubble for survivors, and everyone is terrified of hitting a life electric wire.

It isn't like this movie and it isn't like "Twister." The fear is real, justified and not based in CGI. The apocalyptic skies and the post hit damage really do feel like they are created by witchcraft. Snakes really do crawl into your house, as the water in the creeks rise.

Fifty years of living in Tornado Alley brought me to this preposterous blend of "Swiss Family Tornadoson" and "The Craft." It's a family drama where I care about no one. Drunk, abusive Daddy is more terrifying that the storm and the bad juju. Mom can't stop whining about protecting her kids, but only helps when it's too late. The little boy actor tries hard to be afraid of a rubber snake. Big Sis wonders if she caused the whole thing by being with her new girlfriend.

The viewers fear for the children saddled with inept parents, which helps the tension rise. But the tension does nothing but make us want to kill drunk, abusive Daddy as the film grinds SLOWLY to the end.

When it's all over, you wish you had taken a direct hit from the tornado instead of watching this movie,

Do ANYTHING else with your time
jfost7521 December 2021
This was one of the biggest disappointments I've had in years. A family gets trapped in a bathroom after a storm and you're not sure if it's the apocalypse or they're just having a really bad week. Either way it was a poorly written, poorly acted piece of cinematic garbage with an ending that leaves you hating yourself just a little more for watching it.

Imagine "This is the end" except without the comedy, the decent actors, and filmed entirely inside a bathroom set from The Golden Girls and that was this movie. There's no "maybe it's not so bad" here, this was, without question, an absolute waste of my time.

Cryptic trash
ten-thousand-marbles9 December 2021
I like Pat Healy. He always does a great job going crazy, as he does here. Unfortunately, this is the only thing this movie has going for it. I found it grotesque to the point of being nearly unwatchable. Puke is not entertaining. The what's and why's are never explained. Cryptic trash and lazy writing. The story and script are a joke. I would skip this one.

You need to not watch this
ivvanabarac8 January 2022
What a waste of time. Very dull plot with absolutely no answers in the end. Just as the movie picks up and you think it's going to be promising, it falls short and you're left disappointed. Honestly should be a crime to do this to viewers. No it's not "artsy" and there's no "hidden message"- it's literally like watching a black hole into nothing. Skip it.

Thought the acting was fine and story fine. Yes, ambiguity is not always what an audience wants but the only thing I'll say is I did like it more when I looked up more about the book it's based on.

Unique, bizarre, strange... Great future cult film!
lareval7 September 2021
This is not a movie for everyone and sure it's gonna be critized. But I think it will be a cult movie in the future. Better watch it with zero expectations, in a stormy day and just focusing on the hipnotic of Sierra McCormick. A fun, straightforward horror with a demonic twist, 80s touch and minimalistic ways to impress me.

A slowburn family horror.
kenzibit7 September 2021
Claustrophobic perfect performances from this small cast were amazing. The movie was kinda slow but they made use of every opportunity to reveal something in the story. This one-room kinda survival movies are hard to make and I must say this was really done well. I recommend this for the family horror time.

lnicole-586795 September 2021
I've never once left a review, but I felt the need to after watching this horrific movie. This is by far the dumbest movie I've seen in my life. It was decent at first, and everything just went downhill fast. I'd rather throw myself in front of a bus then ever have to watch this garbage again.

DonDonPi4 September 2021
I thought the movie's going to be good at first few minutes , and then there comes non-sense scenes about witch , and many things can't be explained about the 'animal' outside . The mom's body is full of blood at last , and then I thought , time for the final explaination ! But the director gave me a big surprise: END ! Bye !
