I wanted to like this movie until I didn't. What a shame.

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoy a slow burn. I also enjoy films that are set in one location. I also really enjoy films that are purposefully ambiguous and keep the audience in the dark for most of the film. Unfortunately, I enjoy these things when they are DONE PROPERLY BY COMPETENT PEOPLE. This movie was not made by competent people. It was made by people who don't watch movies, horror or otherwise. Why else would they bother making such a purposefully obtuse film?

It begins with a family "trapped" in the bathroom. I say "trapped" because, really, who builds a house where the bathroom is the most impenetrable room? 6 feet of wall? Tempered glass for windows? This isn't the damn Congressional building. It's a house, and to think having a family trapped in the most ridiculous location was bad enough, it just continues to get worse.

We have an unhinged husband, a useless/scared wife, a horrible daughter and a son too young to really do anything interesting throughout most of the film. Then comes the flashbacks of the daughter doing horrible things with an equally horrible person, and apparently those things are what set the events of the movie in motion.

In the end, I was left with SO MANY QUESTIONS, but did I actually care for the answers? So it wasn't really a storm; What was it? The apocalypse? Did the girls summon a demon? What was the "good boy"? Why didn't they start chipping away at the walls from the first day? Who builds a bathroom with a solid oak door? Why wasn't this movie made by better people, and how was it not shredded to bits by focus groups before it was released?

Ultimately, it's not a movie anyone will remember in a few years, and anyone who does will not have fond memories of it. It's a waste of a good premise and with a truly competent team, would have been something worth talking about.

In the end, I wasted and hour and 40 minutes of my life and wrote this review to save you the trouble of doing the same. If I can keep even one person from watching this, I would have done the Lord's work.

I gave it 3 stars because the "good boy" scene was genuinely creepy. That's about it it.
