Not funny and offensive product placement
Piedradura17 July 2020
This was a complete waste of time. It only gets a four star rating because it was nice to see the cast. It was basically a long ad for Peacock. Shameless. At least YouTube tells you you're watching an ad.

surprising how many actors will sell their soul
cherold26 July 2020
This 30 Rock "reunion" special is a cynical marketing ploy, but I won't say there's nothing worthwhile in it. It starts decently and has some good jokes here and there. But as others note, it is mainly an ad for a new TV website, and while the plugs are just dribbled in at first, by the end it is pretty much 95% an ad.

It is heartbreaking to see all these talented, successful people willing to prostitute their respected, irreverent series for a payday. I know times are hard, but are they *that* hard for Tina Fey or Alec Baldwin? I mean, come *on!*

I do give the series credit for making something pretty cohesive within the limits of social distancing. I do not recommend bothering with it.

Not Sharp Enough; Unsatisfying Plot
skinnygaillard7 May 2022
Essentially, this special was a 40-minute ad. Of all shows, I would have thought 30 Rock would be the one to get away with that, but the writing was disappointingly dull. There was potential and it was blown for the sake of keeping it a straight-forward ad.

The whole premise of zoom calls and being in lockdown is as stodgy now as it was when it emerged; it's never been funny as it hinges on weak-as-water observational and 'relatable' comedy That said, there were some funny moments and seeing the cast was nice. But a few moments that feel like 30 Rock do not justify this waste of time.

Just a commercial for Peacock
roseannday17 July 2020
Rather than a reunion episode, this is simply a commercial for NBC's Peacock streaming service. Yes, it's nice to see the cast again, but that's not enough to make this montage worth watching.

Fast Forward
Barry016917 July 2020
I usually fast forward through the commercials. If I had done that with this, I wouldn't have seen anything. The entire show was an ad for Peacock -- so much so that several times when they cut to an actual commercial, I couldn't tell the difference. The after the credits bloopers and outtakes were funnier than the rest of the show combined. A real waste of time.

One Time Special

Warning: Spoilers
Good to have the gang back. Some of the blatant NBC advertising worked from a comedy standpoint, some didn't.

Some of the scenes were funny, others weren't.

Overall I enjoyed it though.

Garbage

This is an insult that leaves a stain on a great series. 80% commercial for Peacock , 20% horrible script and non storyline.

Judging by the reviews I would say that the joke went over a lot of people's heads

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this special and thought it was a pretty brilliant use of the show and its characters to promote the new season and a really creative approach given the current constraints imposed by covid-19 guidelines.

I am glad someone at NBCU has enough of sense of humor to have done this, so whoever your are, well done.

And to the shows cast and the guest celebrities, thank you very much for participating. I truly enjoyed it and hope you all had fun.

I had seen many of the promos for the new shows so did fast forward through those, but at the end saw a promo for the new show Debris which I had not previously seen and am very interested in watching.

A One-Time Extended Commercial
Narce18 July 2020
This was a TERRIBLE "show". First, it wasn't funny, which is unacceptable for a show with this pedigree. Second, as mentioned by others, it was just an extended promotion of various shows and services from NBC/Universal. It got so that I couldn't even distinguish between some of the "silly parody" shows (like Law & Order; Paperwork) and the real ones.

If you have recorded or downloaded this show but not yet watched it, then do yourself a favour and junk it, now.

Had funny parts but one I rated so low
dresmiles17 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This special definitely was heavy handed on the product placement. Some parts were funny and it was nostalgic but they had a freaking kardashian in the episode so that dropped my rating way low. Stop giving this toxic family air time! Its not even funny even when they are kinda goofing on themselves, they are still getting attention.

Not a Reunion, Just an hour long commercial for Peacock.
itsactuallyamanda19 July 2020
As much as I was excited for an reunion of 30 Rock, what seemed like an reunion actually turned out to be just an non-stop hour long commercial for NBCUniversal and their new streaming service, Peacock. With constant jokes leading into commercials and the storyline involving new shows on the streaming service, this was not the reunion we were promised and even with the added celebrity cameos and appearances from 30 Rock cast members, I can clearly see that this was an advertising plot for Peacock and it was a reunion that could not be enjoyed whether you had Peacock or not.

One long NBC Universal commercial with commercials about NBC Universal. I definitely CAN not watch.

Not even Liz Lemon can save this mess.

Welcome Back in 2020!
a-rodg4018 July 2020
I know it was heavily promoting NBC shows, but it was Fantastic to see the Cast back. 1st show I've seen to address the pandemic and I Love they way it was handed: Zoom calls, single shots, Kenneth & his assistant Totally made sense! From the opening mask vs anti-mask issue to the stories involving characters personalities, it was Enjoyable. I would recommend it, especially to fans of the show!!

1 hr NBC/Peacock Infommercial
mdlortz18 July 2020
It's 1 hr long 30 min commerials 30 mins "show" which they mostly do it how they used to on the show trying to make the ads funny and part of the story. This was an over-hyped let down. The Parks & Rec reunion show was way better, do yourself a favor and watch that again instead of watching this boring NBC/Peacock Infommercial.

Shameful
drjgardner18 July 2020
It really doesn't get worse than this. If you want to do a commercial that's OK. At least make it entertaining. This is simply poor thought-out and badly acted trash. I only lasted 15 minutes before turning it off.

Don't waste your time
Jumbajookiba21 July 2020
I was really looking forward to this after seeing the rather good Parks and Recreation episode, but, all this is is a infomercial for Peacock. Fey, Baldwin and company must really need the money to have agreed to this. The only funny part is Viveca, apart from her this is an embarrassment and not a good way to end a really superb show.

Embarassing this was made. SHAME ON YOU FEY!
chunkylefunga15 August 2020
Thought this would be just ok as lockdown episodes aren't that great but this is literally just one big ad for peacock.

Complete waste of time and a disgrace that this was ever made.

Don't waste your time watching this.

We already knew this was a commercial event but it was great anyway. Perfect way to advertise while also making it hilarious with the beloved characters.

This will spoil your re-watches of 30 Rock
geekbelief6 January 2021
This is the worst TV special since the Star Wars Christmas special. I am in the middle of rewatching 30 Rock (about my fourth watch of the show, which I love), and now that I have seen this abomination, which only caught my attention today, I am finding it hard to go back to the original show.

This is a joyless, heartless, corporate land-grab unleavened by the wit that the original used to deflect its in-show ads. It's a presentation intended for the ad industry and which should never have been shown to the public.

It's possible that the public might have heard of its existence and whined to see it, but NBC, you should have held firm. Really, dudes, you have p****d on a TV treasure with horrific abandon. Bleurgh.
