Unlikable lead character
Draysan-Jennings15 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I never felt any compassion for the lead character. She came off as a shallow and miserable person. And It turns out she was just as bad as the people robbing the house. A small time thief who steals from the people who hire her. Not to mention she ends up taking a portion of the money from the safe. This film would of been a lot better if the main character was more likeable. Not a terrible film but nothing I'd watch again.. 5 stars.

A decent film that just needed to make the main character a little more likable
jtindahouse7 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
When your lead character is a blind girl it is going to be pretty hard to make her unlikable. Even with all the pride she shows and how rude she can be to her friends and family, we are willing to forgive it because we understand things are tough for her. But then when you go the step further and make her a thief it begins to get a little hard. I understand it plays into the story later on, but the number one rule in horror screenwriting is to make us like about the character/s, so we care about their fate. This was an otherwise good film that slipped up in that sense.

The second too acts of this film are quite well done. The villains (while a little dumb and illogical) are also menacing and even a little charismatic. The girl on the app 'Kelly' is a good addition to the film too. If anything she's the character that I would've been worried for if she were in danger. The suspense scenes are not perfect, but they do enough to keep us interested and needing to know what's going to happen next.

I didn't always feel that the stakes were high enough - there's an odd patch in the middle of the film where I wasn't sure which direction they were going to go in, but the ending made up for that and ensured that there was something to be feared. I had a good time with 'See for Me' and would recommend it. It's not perfect but it does enough to stay afloat and then some. 7/10.

Why didn't any back up come for the cop? Warning: Spoilers
I liked this film ok but this was my big annoyance with it. One lone woman cop would not come out for a home invasion check. Even if the 911 call was cancelled by Sophie, they'd still assume the 3 intruders reported could possibly be in the house and send at least 2 cops to check it out.

And when the cop called for backup, that signals an emergency to her fellow officers yet no other officers seemed to rush to the residence to give her the backup she needed. A whole hour goes by after she called for more cops and still no sign of them. Either the rest of the police force hated their fellow cop or it's just incredibly poor writing there.

I liked the lead character and didn't find her unlikable at all so i'm confused to see so many reviews saying that. I thought it was interesting that she cut a deal with the thieves to keep the cops away. I'd have done the same thing too to save my skin.

I guess stealing the wine bottle was bad, but it didn't make me hate her guts for doing it.

I do think it's a stretch that someone would hire a blind girl to house sit a huge mansion like that alone in the woods. You'd think she'd at least bring a friend to stay with her.

I give it a 5 because it was suspenseful...but the whole cop scenario mid way through and the missing backup ruined things. When a lone cop calls for backup on a home invasion check, her fellow cops would get out there asap.

A blind version of hush and panic room.
geeza200610 January 2022
If you've watched hush or panic room you will know what i mean in the title, although this movie isnt as good as those two its actually not that bad.

For me there could have been a bit more tension build up, but still it was enough to keep me interested throughout, the only minus for me is that the main character sophie gets annoying at times when people are trying there best to help her, you'll know what i mean if you watch it.

Ok all in all this is one of those movies you'll only watch once and most likely forget about, but with no regret of watching it.

6/10 from me.

Entertaining home invasion movie
indiana198124 April 2022
This movie has all the perfect ingredients for a Friday night, home invasion movie. Suspense, gripping at times, decent cast and a unique premise... a blind girl cat sitting, is unfortunately in a house which is targeted for robbery.

I've seen some reviews, where some people didn't like the lead character. But I thought she did fine, she can act fine. And came across believable as a blind person.

Overall, entertaining popcorn movie, which ticks boxes.

Barely watchable...
tchitouniaram26 March 2022
Modernized rehash of better films , even so , It would be o' k ,if only the main character wasn't so annoying and unpleasant. All gimmick about blind or deaf people in life or death situations based on the incredible and scary vulnerability , when you try to put yourself in their shoes . Here , the heroine is so stubborn , dumb and rude that you feel just kind of disgust , hence this film doesn't' work...

AVERAGE.
andrewchristianjr31 August 2022
There's no way they didn't see the light from her phone screen or hear her talking back n forth with everyone over the phone. The robbers were dumb & would've never even consider "partnering" with her like that. The only likable characters, really, were the army chick & her best guy friend. Did the cat even get fed? Wkwk There's no way the homeowner should've left after seeing how weird the girl was acting - she had to have known something wasn't right with her/she was lying about something. But regardless of all that, it wasn't that bad of a watch. I did enjoy it for the most part, but i don't think I'd recommend it.

most unlikeable lead ever.
emanuelasmith6 June 2022
I gave 2 stars for the veteran. The rest of the movie was insufferable and I only kept watching to see if the lead got killed. Even the thieves were more likeable, especially the poor guy with the drill. I would rather watch a movie about him.

One of the most unlikeable, obnoxious characters ever!
lugliok17 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Let me start off by saying that I actually liked this movie because it had a lot of eerie and intense elements. But the leading actress was so unlikable it was hard to even feel sorry for her. She was rude to her mother, selfish and if you're to blame everyone else for all of her own issues. She takes these jobs robs the people that are paying her. Supposed to be watching after the cat goes outside to smoke a cigarette and then when she gets locked out leaves the door open after she comes in. Because she couldn't get back in immediately, started berating the person trying to help her on the phone.

Amazing cinematography but annoying main character
leah_claudine11 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The movie is a bit of a waste of time to be honest, the beginning was interesting but the end gets really boring and predictable. Also the main character isn't very likeable and she's not a good person so I don't know why they let her get away from killing people especially the guy who opened the safe, he was unarmed and he just wanted to run away and get his share.

The main character is just really annoying, she's selfish and greedy.

Ain't seen nothing yet
kosmasp18 October 2021
Yes I'm aware that grammatically my summary line does not make much sense. But I hope and believe you are aware of the history of that saying ... although I am using this especially for the main actress/character here obviously.

And while the movie seems quite standard, there are a few twists that really got to me. Well written and acted, moral compass aside, this is quite the fun little thriller. The overall conclusion may be one that is not too hard too guess, but it is the ride that is exciting ... again well done and a nice little independent movie for any horror/thriller fan.

Intense in some parts but a huge error
JeremyReviews19 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So the ex husband stashes 7 million in a safe in his house and does not know the combination? Am I missing something? Why hire 3 people to break into a safe if he knew the combination or did he forget the comination? He said his ex wife had no idea the safe was in the house. Can someone help me understand this?

Extremely unlikable protagonist!
dsparks55518 January 2022
In spite of all the bad reviews I decide to watch his film anyway. What a mistake! I've seen thousands of films during my lifetime and I've never seen a film with such an unlikable protagonist. The main character in this film has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. She treats everyone including family, friends and strangers alike with equal disrespect and contempt. Yes I realize she's blind, But that's not excuse for her crappy behavior. I was actually rooting for her to be killed off that's how bad she was. I don't know if her character was written this way or if the actor playing us just that obnoxious. Stay away from this film.

Effective little thriller
witra_as21 June 2022
An effective little thriller with good use of certain innovative mobile apps. Randall Okta brought convenient plot for home-invasion standards though wasn't without its flaws. Kudos to Skyler Davenport who's blind in real life and gave sensible performance here.

Unexpected delight!
FilmFlowCritics9 October 2021
I didnt expect much from this movie, but it really pleasantly surprised me! It will at no time bore you and shows a very different kind of "blind person" than certainly I have seen in movies in the past. Its a very refreshing touch on the subject and while this movie doesnt re-invent the wheel, it does a lot of things right, even though it has minor flaws, and sure you see the ending coming half way through the movie, BUT that surprisingly doesnt ruin the experience AND I do want to point out how well the Chekhov's guns are executed!

Jump on for the ride and enjoy a fantastic performance by the female lead, who actually is blind herself.

See Something Else
thesar-28 May 2022
"Hush"! I heard a better version is on Netflix. And "Don't Breathe" on...any other platform.

There. I gave you my recommendation. See "Don't Breathe" or "Hush" instead of "See for Me." But, if you feel the need for a triple feature some night, fine, you can include this. But, only because I can't think of another movie this is hyper-similar to.

Our incredibly unlikeable hero of the story is blind and somehow always manages to get around an unfamiliar house where she's cat-sitting and not be seen, for the most part, by three robber intruders. Even more unbelievable, she's holding her phone with the flashlight on while she's talking with a "See for Me" video chat service that helps blind people see in unfamiliar locations. And the robbers still can't track down this victim.

The person on the other end of the "See for Me" service is the only likable character and totally reminded me of Brooke Langton way back on Melrose Place. Not to mention, the lead totally reminded me of a much younger Sarah Polley. But, that's neither here nor there.

This plot is absurd and unrealistic at best, and littered with way too many plot holes at worst. And that lead character we're supposed to root for is so bad and unpleasant, you really only root for Not-Brooke Langton and she's thousands of miles away.

This is on Shudder and I love Shudder. But this REALLY feels like a D-grade Netflix thriller.

***

Final Thoughts: Yeah, I have to go here: Like the blind lead, don't see this movie.

pretty good plot, but horrible character
LetsReviewThat263 May 2022
Its true that sophie is an unlikeable person treating people with disrespect and even stealing from her job but in the long run I still rooted for her to win and I was inpressed with her skills. The only way sophie is able to get aroud when the breakin happening is vie an app just like the name of the film suggests. Kelly becomes a friend through this and I liked her character. Not many other to note that were good. The theives were ok but I wish we got to see more of the cat. Altogether a solid plot that unfolds like others in the catagory but its better than half of them.

Hard to like the film when you hate the Protaganist
Ogreyouasshole9 April 2022
I was excited to see this film based on the premise. But once we were introduced to the main character, it went down hill fast. She's so annoying that its hard to root for her. She ruined the entire film.

Not bad
danielbrown-471069 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Common style of story, done with some degree of uniqueness. Predictable and unbelievable like most thrillers of this nature though, but I really liked the ex military gamer chick. Big undermining factor in this movie is If a cop calls for backup, cops come RUNNING, not just casually strolling slower than the first squad car that was dispatched, and just one cop responding to a home invasion with multiple hostiles.. please.. not to mention just one cop who seems to think of herself as a detective ..unlikely, but I loved the way she acted handling the situation when things got heated, it was really well choreographed, hand-cuffs, call for backup etc.. just again, unrealistic that it was only her, and that she was some kind of female Jason Bourne.. These sort of movies always try to blur over some details in the belief that their audience is naive which in reality is only one corner of their demographic so they really need to start wising up when making these things. All in all though, for a 'Girl Power' flick, it was alright. 6/10 (slightly generous)

Why not just call the cops by this agent instead?
Neptune16519 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Why wouldn't the app assistant call for more police? This girl was annoying. The See Me app person helping our blind girl shoot looks very isilly. Nope. After she ran out into the freezing temp in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere, with no shoes. Oh, yeah i felt so bad.

I was pleasantly surprised
deralexanderda2 May 2022
I was pleasantly surprised after clicking on this by accident. Good story, well acted, with a neat twist at the end. I'd watch it again. It has a unique spin on the "coming from inside the house" trope. Not a bad way to spend 90 minutes.

Fun Thriller
nwcoug5 April 2022
This was entertaining, and a fresh approach to the "Thriller" genre. I actually watched this because it was labeled as a horror. It's not. It's a Thriller.

Would love to have seen a little more background on the military/gaming front, which I believe should have taken a much larger role. It's a great concept.

Only found out after watching that the lead is is actually blind. Exceptional performance from Skyler Davenport. What a lovely young lady. She's a natural.

I give this movie a solid 6.8, which deserves to be rounded up.

Such a frustrating lead character
danielmanson4 June 2022
Basically what I'm gonna write here is echoing what a lot of others have already said about this movie. And as you can tell by the title the lead character is genuinely awful and it just put me off the film throughout.

She's not nice, she's annoying and I really don't understand why you'd make someone so frustrating to watch. More so when the point of this film is to root for this character when the break in happens. Why would I root for someone so frustrating. She's a proper "female dog" if you get me.

The plot itself isn't too bad. It's a take on the intrusion horror sub-genre so you know what you're going to get. There was one or 2 minor twists, nothing major but I can't say much more other than it got the job done. Sure, I feel they could have improved the level of suspense throughout and made better characters, but it's watchable at the end of the day.

Was it scary? No. Let's just end that one there.

So yeah, this is a film that massively let down by the poor writing of the characters. The main one was simply horrendous, and the other characters were so forgettable and flat they aren't worth mentioning. Yeah, a very average 5/10 today.

interesting and intense
bekiwij17 March 2023
Well, it was a pleasant surprise for me. Yes, the main character was so annoying and not very likeable. It's very hard to feel anything for her because of her attitude. However, not every blind person is a good kindhearted spirit, so I have no issues with how annoying this character is ha ha because Blind people can be D_CKS too sometimes! Story was interesting enough to keep me watching till the end. And great cinematography. This reminded me of another Netflix movie called Hush, which was about a deaf girl. However, I did not like this movie as much as I liked Hush, but I still enjoyed watching it. It's the kind of movie you want to watch on a Friday night alone ha ha.

didn't like the mc
alexreviewsstuff5 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I mean sophie was so annoying and unlikable, the other character trying to help her out and she stands there doing the opposite, this would have wrapped up if she told the police in the first place but i guess she didn't cuz she wants the money, which at the end i guess u don't cheer for her (i never did) cuz she stole the stolen money. Anyways i've seen this type of thriller home invasion movie so many times they just merge as one that the mc lives a happy life after.
