A lot of these ITV drama series were thirteen episodes long. Manhunt was scheduled to be a season that would be 13 episodes long.
Only the decision was made for it to continue. So it became a 26 episodes series. Cast scheduled were rejigged as it was not sustainable for the three leads to do all the episodes.
In essence this is the beginning of the second season. Jimmy is distraught after having to shoot Vincent dead.
He is in hiding in Francine's house. Only her younger brother Philippe is a zealot in the making. He is a member of the Vichy youth movement, twinned with the Hitler Youth.
Finally Jimmy meets the elusive local Resistance leader Pierre Allard. He explains why he never showed up at the rendezvous point. He was given some vital information by a contact that it was a trap.
She turns out to be Adelaide. She has been working both sides as Adelaide only cares for herself.
In time Jimmy learns that Vincent is alive and Nina is in Bordeaux with Gratz. Instead of escaping, Jimmy elects to rescue them both.
Without Nina and Vincent. This turns out to be a very talky episode. It sets out Jimmy's mission and him having to talk out Philippe who in essence has been radicalised. Not realising that if he gave up Jimmy, his mother and sister will also be taken away by the Nazis.
The writer of the episode is Jonathan Hales. He co-wrote with George Lucas, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. That might explain the lack of action!
