Helping the poor makes entertainment
ztir12 June 2006
Very few shows in the Philippines make helping an entertainment. And WOWOWEE is one of them. Although suffered through a series of serious complications, these didn't stop WOWOWEE do its primary purpose which is to help. The host, Willie Revillame is just witty and spontaneous, though sometimes pushy and rude, the comic relief was there. You can see the gladness and the smiles of the people in the studio. The games are entertaining. But sometimes, these games are just getting to the nerves. Just watching the needless people being treated even to a short limelight, is as fulfilling as watching those shows turn gag. Not only it does entertain, it bridges Filipinos from far away places, ridding them from their homesickness. If you may be in the Philippines sometime, you must pay a visit in this show considered to be one of the tourist spot in the country.

Please do something for Pokwang to stop what she is doing.
nebednoel654 January 2008
I have been watching "Wowowee" almost everyday and almost three times a day and I always enjoy every bit of the show. All the co-host of the show especially Lara and Valerie are outstanding and hopefully they will stay long with the show. In my own opinion, everything related to the show seems perfect except Pokwang. I have nothing against her and I know the reason she was there was to add a little bit of humor and comedy. But what she was doing is as if she is a participant of a "moro-moro" or she was trying to get the attention of the viewer from the other co-host? Probably she used to be a "moro-moro" performer and not a comedian.

Disgraceful Willie!
one_fpguhrl4 May 2006
Warning: Spoilers
So, I was watching Wowowee a couple minutes ago and It was the part where the people choose their colors for that correlate with the answers. It came down to two girls. One girl was told she was in the wrong color; but the other was crying. Willie said to the remaining girl that there are only two ways to cry: Happy or Sad, and asked why she was crying. She said that she was sad. Willie said that it was good that she hadn't moved.. only making the girl more hopeful that she had gotten the correct answer, but to my surprise, the answer was wrong.

At this point, my family, (who was watching with me) and myself became furious. We were surprised at Willie's behavior on International Television! He completely just out front mortified the poor girl in front of millions of viewers! That is what my dad would say, "Wala Sa Ayos!" I actually went to the show on wowowee and was a bigatin last spring break. He seemed nice to me, but as I continued to watch the show, i noticed how he seems to be having less and less respect for the people and instead mortify them to his own selfish entertainment. Honestly, i can go on and on about this and possibly write an essay. This has caught my attention and I want to do something about this.

The purpose of the show, or so I thought, was to help solve poverty one day at a time, but from what I see, I have been proved wrong? I also acknowledge that Wowowee can be tiring job, having to maintain the energy EVERY single day without vacation, but if Willie continues to disrespect his fans, well then I think that he should CANCEL the show, or have him REPLACED for a more respectful person who is willing to give the patience and diligent work required to continue this show.

Willie also I've noticed, has started to become cocky, or "mayabang" He acts as if he is superior to the other people on the show. I believe that he has become bad representation of the Philippine people. What before was an entertaining show to me, is now disturbing to watch. (Not Exaggerated at all) I suggest that Willie's attitude be changed because this may discourage people to watch the show.

Great show, but over the years, the quality has decreased.

This show is truly phenomenal, but over the years it has changed greatly, and not for good.

Currently, the co-hosts are Pokwang, Mariel Rodriguez, RR Enriquez, and Valerie Concepcion. Out of all the co-hosts its of course no question that Mariel is a natural (in the Philippines, a good host is what is needed to bring a show) and her personality lights up any room, but sometimes, I have to question what even the main host, Willie "Papi" Revillame is doing nowadays. Sure, his cracks are funny and insulting at the same time that you forget the latter, but nowadays its just to a point where its almost not funny.

I have been an avid viewer of the show since about 2006, and I have always loved it - still do. The thing is, I just don't feel the "closeness" that they used to have anymore. Back then, on the opening for the show, Janelle and Mariel - and even Roxanne at a point, would be singing together with Willie and they'd have some sort of group hug. It was refreshing to see that these people do care for each other.

However, nowadays, it seems like they are just in the show to get it over with. You barely understand the hosts because they talk too fast, and they rush all the games because there's no time. And that "closeness" that the show once embraced isn't felt anymore. Pokwang is a great co-host because she can bring the comedic material in; Mariel, again, is one of the best hosts in television at the moment, and while she has grown out of her 'ditzy' stage, she can also make fun of herself without shame; RR has her hilarious moments; and Valerie has to be at the bottom of my list. I truly do not understand how she won a 'best' TV Host Award when people (at least, us who have TFC) even point out to me that she giggles through everything even when doing her hosting duties. She's basically giggling her way through every prompt read and it used to be cute but now its not. That is not a definition of a good host.

To end the note of the hosts, the show is a breakthrough in many ways. The Filipino people get to hear stories that will make them cry, or laugh. They may have had many accusations and "scandals", but giving money to the poor and needy is enough for people like me to at least give the show a bit more respect and decency.

Wowowee, an inspirational show to entertain is a great choice for everyone.

i love and like to watch all the girls at Wowowee but Mariposa and Luningning are my favorites among others. the show Wowowee, i sincerely believed brings inspiration & happiness to all Filipinos around the world. i was born & raise in Bulacan until age 19 & never watch Tagalog movies much then & now because you can always pretty much figure out what the ending would be, i have watch some variety shows etc., i have to say Wowowee is a different show. i am enjoying my life now after my retirement more than ever since my wife subscribed to TFC. my only comment at this time comparing hit shows here in the U.S. and Wowowee is that, in the U.S. they seems to make the public or viewers longing for more by limiting the shows like, once a week or twice a week. also making the shows one season at a time, say like, six months period in a year. i discuss these with my wife & she said, oh maybe because there's a lot of poor people in the Philippines that needs assistance, so that's why they making the show everyday. whatever reason it might be, i hope Filipinos and others will not get tired of watching too much Wowowee. oh, by the way i hope Willie just concentrate on hosting the Wowowee & not to spend too much time advertising that he can play the bongo or drums. to me and sense the majority of the people believed he's got an exceptional talent as a host of any show not just Wowowee. i recommend the TV management in the Philippines replace that weird guy at KNB or Game Ka Na Ba show. people get goosebumps watching that guy, i think he's fake.

Wowowee ethics
tiugemco22 September 2007
This message is for Ms. Charo Santos, Can you please re-evaluate, some procedures in Wowowee. I am a regular fan of Wowowee but lately, I noticed that some of the actions are getting too in-appropriate, like for example, when somebody is being ask to sing a song, the person being not a professional singer, should not be expected to sing like a professional, and should not be subjected to those " Cow-like-Background-Sounds or A-Horror-kind-Of-Sound". I know, the show is just trying to be funny but, I think, it should be done, not at the expense of the contestant. Most of the contestant are poor and I think, Mr. Willie should not STEP on their dignity just to be funny. Another thing is that, asking for information about somebody's SALARY or INCOME is rude and unethical. If Mr. Willie thinks otherwise, then try to publish his Monthly salary live on TV. I am still a fan. I just want things to be right. Thank you.
