This isn't the best horror short story anthology but it is an entertaining one

Screamtime (1983) is a Bittish horror movie that I recently watched on Shudder. The storyline follows a woman about to head on a date when she gets some unexpected visitors with a movie they can't wait to watch. The movie has three short horror stories involving some people down on their luck that turn to the super natural for happiness. Meanwhile, the people in the film might not be the only ones down on their luck...

This movie is codirected by Michael Armstrong (Horror House) and Stanley A. Long (Sex and the Other Woman) and stars Robin Bailey (The Diplomatic Corpse), Ann Lynn (King Lear), Jonathon Morris (Vampire Journals), Bosco Hogan (The Last Duel) and Ian Saynor (The Tudors).

The cast in this is pretty impressive and delivers strong performances. The female character in the apartment is an absolute smoke show 💨 and there's some solid 80s boobies in here. The kill scenes are solid. The opening dog sequence could have been done better, but the puppet scene with singing was great as was the stabbing and strangling sequences. The circumstances in the storylines are really well setup and the outcomes of each story is fulfilling.

Overall, this isn't the best horror short story anthology but it is an entertaining one. I would score this a 6.5/10 and recommend seeing it once.
