The last two episodes of Murdoch Mysteries ("Crime and Punishment" and "The Murdoch Trap") were terrible, and a genuine disappointment.
"Evil mastermind plots" typically require so many lucky breaks, so much coincidence, and so much suspension of belief, that they fall apart long before the end credits.
It has nothing to do with not being a fan of the show. I am very much of a fan of Murdoch Mysteries. I usually enjoy Murdoch's "MacGyver style" technology inventions even when they seem a bit far fetched.
But to add to what several reviewers have mentioned,.
Evil mastermind plots typically require writers to pile on one implausibility after another, (dubiously existent technology, clueless witnesses) in order to ratchet up the tension and move the plot forward.
Eventually it just becomes too much, and too annoying. Very disappointing ending to Season 6--a season I generally enjoyed quite a bit.
