Lupt (2018)
7/10
It's new and well directed film. But slow paced.

During Covid-19 my agenda was to obviously watch movies. My routine is to search movies on OTT platform. Got to see this movie LUPT. First thing is first, this is NOT a straight on horror movie. And mind you its a slow film. I will call it a psychological thriller. This was one of the nice movies I have seen in the thriller genre. it's basically a story about a family on their way for a vacation. Due to the traffic jam, the father takes a short-cut, and they end up on a road to nowhere. In between few funny scenes by the character of Sam (Rishab Chadha) who played Harsh Tandon son ( Jaaved Jaaferi) , it would go dark and give you a claustrophobic feeling. This whole premise is very exciting, but it could have been done a lot better all around. Anyway's the overall theme of the movie is good. The script could have been better. Dialogues are good. Some of the lines given to Vijay Raaz is outstanding. dialogue. With average story Lupt goes in the right direction and cast people who are amazingly talented to watch on the screen. The father and the son are the good , It gave some smile to me when Sam appeared on the screen. The daughter Tanu ( Meenakshi Dixit) did a good job in emotional scenes. There was enough substance to keep me watching through the end but largely because Jaaved Jaaferi, Vijay Raaz, Niki Walia, Rishab Chadha and Meenakshi Dixit gave life to their character. Other actors were average and nothing special to mention about them. I'll give a thumbs up to the directing though, for creating a eerie feeling, on this isolated road and some very well directed scenes. With better support behind the director, he can really make a name for himself. To conclude everybody may not enjoy as the exceptions of just horror will disappoint many, but i really enjoyed this slow paced movie. Giving 7/10
