A continuation worth seeing.

Warning: Spoilers
I was happy to see that The Perfect Bride was getting a sequel, and while Hallmark typically has trouble living up to its predecessors as far as sequels are concerned, this movie was charming, sweet, and most importantly, consistent with the original film.

Like all the other reviewers have noted, Kavan Smith and Pascale Hutton have wonderful chemistry, and this carries over well into the second installment of their story. They banter convincingly, they work out their problems realistically, and they look at each other with real emotion rather, like they're not just waiting with every fiber of their being for someone to yell "cut!" It was refreshing that at no point in the movie did either character stray too much from their true selves, and therefore, their relationship remained strong as well, and I did not worry for the sturdiness of them as a couple while watching. While some might say this makes the film and its ending predictable, for me, it was just heart-warming to watch a functional, sweet couple supporting each other.

It was also a relief that the movie was not startlingly different from the one that preceded it (I'm looking at you, All of My Heart). The actors were the same, the locations were the same, and a lot of callbacks where made to the first movie, such as Molly and Nick's song, their wedding venue, and Molly's story with her ex-fiance, which played an interesting role in this movie. Because of all that, the sequel felt like a genuine continuation of the story and the development of the characters, rather than just an unnecessary add-on to the original plot that did absolutely nothing to advance it (I'm looking at you, The Wedding March).

Speaking of the storyline with the fiance, I didn't see it coming at all. When Steven turned out to be the mystery investor, I was surprised, and I was even more so when my prediction for his involvement with the story was completely off the mark: I fully expected Steven to realize he was still in love with Molly, make some untoward advance toward her, which would then be seen by Nick, who would storm off before being able to see Molly rebuff Steven, yada yada yada... we've all seen this cliche in Hallmark before, so the fact that Steven didn't wreak this type of havoc in Molly's life was nice (and unpredictable). Despite not being a super likable guy, it was still refreshing to see that his involvement ultimately lead to Molly getting closure about a traumatic event in her life.

Now for the complaints. Molly's boot camp in the original movie made perfect sense: work out to fit into that coveted wedding dress, and occasionally do a few couple-themed exercises with your fiance to learn how to work together in a fun, no-pressure way. In this movie, she has extended her classes to marriage bootcamp, which is so ridiculous I could hardly take it seriously. Her "lessons," carried over from her past as a marriage counselor, include plaques with words like FORGIVENESS hanging nearby while Molly shares random, pointless platitudes while the couples lean on each other in various pair exercises. They are all pointless fluff words about unconditional love and being there for each other, etc, etc. This bit just didn't work.

Secondly, there is a real seesaw element to Molly and Nick's wedding date that went back and forth too much, and the supporting characters don't help with this either. Molly and Nick are constantly going back and forth on whether or not to have the wedding so soon or not, and this took up a lot of time in the film that probably could've been spent elsewhere. Molly's sister also continuously nags Molly about if having the wedding so fast is a good idea, and that she deserves her dream wedding even if that takes time, yet, when Molly decides to postpone the wedding, her sister has suddenly changed her stance on this entirely.

Overall, though, I was pleased with this film, and despite how much I enjoyed Molly and Nick's story, I hope it ends here, as I think this resolution is a natural ending point. This movie built upon the strengths of The Perfect Bride and didn't feel the need to shake up the world too much, instead adding in some realistic elements, such as experiencing many hectic life-altering events at once and learning how to navigate them as a couple, and therefore, it worked tremendously well.

These two and their chemistry.
MIssM1912 June 2018
Molly and Nick are getting married (yay!) but things get complicated as they plan the wedding because they both have their professionals careers to think about. Their relationship may be strong but when facing all this stress they start thinking if they made the right choice.

I loved this movie, okay? I may be biased by Pascale and Kavan and how much chemistry they have and how much they made me laugh. I would honestly watch these two banter about anything for an hour and a half.

There were a few things that bothered me (like dress available) minor things that are so typical Hallmark, that I honestly don't get annoyed anymore. What I did like was that there was no moment in which they hesistated about how they felt about each other, it was just life in their way. It was a good sequel, maybe not the SEQUEL but so worth it.

Now, I don't know about a third one for this. This was a nice closure. I will take it, of course, as along as the story makes sense, but a Christmas movie sounds fun, right?

Very entertaining and sweet sequel for Molly and Nick
magicofnimue12 June 2018
Molly and Nick are so adorable. What I loved the most is that no matter how hectic life got, they were in it together and their love NEVER wavered. They worked it out together. They didn't argue or fight or complain they just talked, listened and did what worked best for both of them. The actors have such wonderful chemistry, you'd think they were really married. They are a perfect acting team. They must enjoy acting and acting together because it shows every time I see them act. I love them on When Calls the Heart as well. This was a sequel and it ended perfectly. I don't know if they will be doing more but I wouldn't mind at all. They are great together, keep them the way they are, I hope they don't change their attitudes or how they feel about each other. Highly recommend this movie.

Once again Hutton and Smith make it
Jackbv12317 June 2018
Another sequel that isn't quite as charming as the original, but the lead actors make it what fun overall. These two actors have so much history that they can't miss connecting.

The story is mostly plain and unexciting. The supporting cast is fine.

A nice perspective about love and career, about pressures around the wedding moment, about fears inspired by past events and about choices. Not great, but having as basic tool to seduce the honorable work of Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith and fair explore of ordinary reserves, expectations and dream solutions.

A good sequel
MickyG33310 September 2023
7.4 stars.

They are looking for a place to have the wedding, things get pushed back, things seem to be going wrong left and right. We all know how this is going to end so let go of the stress, alleviate the strain and sit back and enjoy the film. It's a good homey story about two love birds who have great chemistry. She is a really great and lovable actress and he is that guy that is in so many Hallmark films because he is so charismatic and quirky. I don't think he's the best looking man, but there's something about his presence. Don't miss this if you saw the first one. There is nothing super-crazy dramatic about it, just two people getting to that wonderful day they both look forward to but with some hitches. Happy film.

Worthy follow-up

I must admit that as much as I loved The Perfect Bride, I wasn't all that excited about seeing this sequel. However, while it's not on the level of the original, The Perfect Bride: Wedding Bells is a solid continuation. Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith still have their excellent chemistry, and the issues they work through as they try to plan their wedding are believable. The opening scene does well to set the background for Molly's (Pascale) dilemma in this one.

Leanne Lapp continues to shine here and it's great to see all the original members from the first movie here, with a little more screen time for Iron Chef chairman Mark Dacascos.

The problems facing the two (both his and her business ventures, and the wedding dress) are wrapped up a little too perfectly for my taste, and the bridezilla aspect that was a fun addition to the original was missing here.

It's still worth your time,...just don't expect the greatness and magic of the original.

This movie was quite the roller coaster, up until the very end I wasn't sure what was going to happen. Everything worked out great and as it should have!

Chemistry at its Best
bjeliason17 June 2018
I have not been a fan of the Hallmark Channel in fact just started watching the channel due to the show Meet the Peetes. I have not watched any of their movies until the past month but I have watched them this month and not because its Wedding month.

Ok so to the movie, I thought this was a great sequel and it threw some real life things in it but the real reason to watch this movie is because of the chemistry between Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith (who is one of the cutest sexiest actors out there). You can not manufacture the chemistry between them and I will always watch anything between them, they could do an hour of reading the phone book and I would watch.

Enjoy the movie and more importantly Pascale and Kavan's chemistry.

Not a good sequel in terms of story. Liked the first one but this one kind of annoyed me. Characters are still great but no good supporting characters. The obstacles that caused them to have second thoughts are just not believable. This came on right after watching Surprised By Love so I guess I got spoiled and expected more .

A great watch
linda-plant220 February 2019
Some Hallmark films are so awful, despite having the same story theme, whilst others are not so cheesy, and then there are a few gems. This is one of them. The two leads are very easy on the eye - perhaps because they are a bit older than the usual ditzy females and weak male leads.

Kavan Smith plays his character to perfection - who wouldn't want to date him with that great sense of humour ? The story line is utterly believable - though the wedding dress saga did push the limit.

It rare for me to give 10 stars but its worth it.

Warning: Spoilers
Ok, here's the deal I watched this movie and did not like it. Then I read the other reviews on imdb and thought, ok, maybe I missed something. So I watched it a second time. But no, still did not like it. Now I never saw the first one that everyone was raving about, so I'm coming at it from a different point of view, but I actually hated it.

I want to state from the beginning that I like Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith as actors very much and usually thoroughly enjoy them in movies. My review has nothing to do with their performances. They both did a great job. They had chemistry.

I really wanted to like this movie I adore Kavan Smith and Pascale Hutton.

Pity the poor actors being given this very bad script to work with. They tried so hard, but it was like watching Sisyphus, rolling the rock up the hill .The actors did the best they could with what they were given. Kudos Kavan and Pascale, it was a valiant effort.

My gripe is really all about the script. It's just stupid. The whole idea of Steven turning up 20 years later and he clearly wanted to get back together with her. He looked startled when he heard she was engaged.

Plot - Begins with a wedding, the groom is by the alter with the groomsmen, the Bride and her father are walking down the aisle, she looks radiant and.....she asks where's Steven? Steven left her standing at the alter. Ok, now 20 years later she is engaged to another man and who pops back into the picture, Steven. 20 years? And now he shows up? Stupid plot device. He's supposed to be the biggest thing in investing in new companies (the bank loan officer said he was the best in the business) and in 20 years he never shows up anywhere. It is just plain stupid.

To add insult to injury, her dream wedding dress was terrible and looked bad on her. Why does Hallmark always dress women in skin tight dresses, so tight they can hardly breathe. The dress made her look like she was all butt. Especially when was sideways and leaning forward a little. Nothing but big fat white butt. Ugly, ugly dress. But I've gotten used to Hallmark dressing their leading ladies in the ugliest outfits on earth, so this did not spoil the movie for me.

This next comment is about Hallmark films in general, not only this particular one. Hallmark also likes to put their leading ladies in such short, short skirts as well as being skin tight that I have to wonder if the poor girl can even sit down n that outfit. Skin tight dress with short skirts and impossibly high heels (so high that I am holding my breath waiting for her to fall down), does not make the actress look sexy, it makes the actress look like a cheap tart who should be standing on a street corner somewhere.

And Hallmark, a word of advice, when you put high heels on an actress please consider her height versus her leading man's height. Kavan Smith is a wonderful actor and extremely hunky and sexy, but he's only 5'9",a respectable height. Pascale also a very talented actress is 5' 6". When you put her in 4 inch heels it makes him look small and insignificant.

I have noticed that usually Hallmark likes to cast 6'2" men opposite 5'2" women to make the man look hunkier. Why not in this case, because Kavan is certainly hunky.

My advice - yuck.

I felt a part of this movie.
timhds25 September 2020
Watching her try on dresses in a movie bored me as much as if I was actually there. They really stretched out this limited plot line. Too many similar scenes with not a lot of movement forward. I felt they could have done the second act in 5 minute montage. Not the best Hallmark, but not the worst.

Two stars because Nick looks like Zac Efron
emilyscott-2908312 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is the worst 2 hours of my life. With a good movie, you expect a plot twist, but THIS movie, it is the most anticlimactic "twist," for lack of better words. One, they make it sound like the ex and Molly get back together, but they don't. Two, it went in complete circles. The only reason why I gave it two stars was because Nick looks like Zac Efron but old. Worst. Movie. Ever.
