Different direction style

Really outstanding episode. Loved the tension, my fists and neck were aching by the end with the amount of tension holding in.

Did anyone notice the humming sound in the back throughout the scenes at Meredith's house? This was carefully selected, it tortured me.

My Potpourri Penelope.

Warning: Spoilers
The tension in this episode was excellent, beginning to end. So many people all learning the same shocking news at the same time, all of whom had a close relationship with Derek. They each react differently, but in ways that truly reflect their individual character. Great acting. The writing was excellent too, in that the previous episode, focusing on informing families of a loved one's death, relates back to how atrocious Penny was at that, and it also relates to how Meredith is undergoing a current trauma being faced by the person who she will always remember as the person who told her that her husband died. Irritating, however, how it never comes out that Penny had known the right course of action and how much she had pushed for it. They keep saying she killed Derek, but it was her attending who killed him, not her. Maybe it's the lawyer in me, but Penny did her due diligence!

Penny's Side of the Story
ZegMaarJus7 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This Episode begins with Meredith, she sees that Callie her date is Penelope, the doctor who was with Derek in Washington when he died. Meredith is acting weird after Penelope arrived. Penelope is going to work at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Meredith tells the others that Penny killed Derek. Penn tells the entire story what happened on the evening of Derek's death. Meredith gives Penny another chance, she can work at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Amazing Episode of Grey's Anatomy Season 12, this was such a great Episode. Penelope AKA Penny showed up at Meredith's dinner party. Can they get along at work?

nice touch, but

Warning: Spoilers
I like that the new girlfriend of Callie was the doctor who (doesn't) killed Derek. But Meredith said, screaming to Amelia that i interpreted as she is the one that needs to suffer more, have more rights to the matter, because he was her husband, and, the more amazing thing, the father of her kids. TELL ME WHERE THEY ARE!! Because Meredith almost never looks like a mother, because her children are never shown. and everybody knows if you have children, three in this case!!, they are going to be everywhere.. and more so if you spent all the time in the hospital. And she doesn't get to be the one hiding secrets and calling the shots because she's the poor victim here. Always, a stupid melodramatic character, super egoistical and depressed at the same time. Insufferable. And, ironically, that's why she's an interesting character because she's not bad or good. She's grey (no pun intended) If children were inconvenient, shonda rhimes should have make her a childless character and that's it. That's not realistic at all.

Hit over the head with awkwardness
slak96u8 February 2022
Sheeesh, ok. Mission accomplished, 40 minutes of unlikable characters reacting to each other, all building up to a awkward dinner and Grey explosion. Its too bad, the setting was great, getting the characters out of the hospital into a different environment was excellent. The scenes were very theatrical, I just don't get the need for literally every character to be so terrible to each other.
