In 1960, Kirk Douglas had helped to break the Hollywood Blacklist with "Spartacus" by publicly crediting then-blacklisted writer Dalton Trumbo as the screenwriter. But in 1969, he found himself working with a director who had been anything but helpful to his Hollywood colleagues during the height of McCarthyism. Sadly, this team-up between Douglas and director Elia Kazan also had the unfortunate distinction of being one of the Greek-American filmmaker's most derided films.
"The Arrangement" currently has a 15% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which should tell you pretty much all you need to know about how this ill-fated drama was received upon release. The film is an adaptation of Kazan's own 1967 novel of the same name and follows LA advertising executive Evangelos Topouzoglou/Eddie Anderson (Douglas) as he endures a protracted nervous breakdown (which is what watching this incredible trailer feels like). Critics at the time were merciless with their condemnation of Kazan's film,...

The show that taught 1980s kids not to hide in an abandoned old refrigerator — or, at the very least, learn CPR in case one of your friends does sneak into one of those scary old latch iceboxes — will not continue with its revival. The updated “Punky Brewster,” which Peacock brought back as part of the streamer’s first-year lineup, will not be renewed for more episodes.
Peacock debuted all 10 episodes of the new “Punky Brewster,” featuring original star Soleil Moon Frye (who also served as an executive producer), on Feb. 25. The show reunited Frye as Punky with her old friend Cherie (Cherie Johnson), and updated her story to focus on Punky raising her three kids after separating from her husband (Freddie Prinze Jr.). A photographer like her foster dad Henry in the original series, Punky brings a foster child, Izzy (Quinn Copeland), into her home.

Nikita alumna Lyndsy Fonseca and Carra Patterson (The Arrangement) have been cast as female leads opposite Josh Peck in Turner & Hooch, Disney+’s reboot of the classic 1989 buddy-cop comedy feature. The TV series, which has a 12-episode order, comes from Burn Notice creator Matt Nix and 20th Century Fox TV.
Additionally, Fonseca has been tapped for a season-long arc on Fox’s 9-1-1: Lone Star, playing Liv Tyler’s sister. Both series are produced by 20th TV, and she will be filming them concurrently.
Like the movie, the hourlong series centers on Scott Turner (Peck), who now is a U.S. marshal — versus the police detective played by Tom Hanks in the movie. When the ambitious, buttoned-up marshal inherits a big unruly dog, he soon realizes the pet he didn’t want may be the partner he needs.
Fonseca will play Laura, Scott’s sister and the mother of 7-year-old Matthew.

The word rang out yesterday, vibrating through the canyons of Los Angeles, much like the echo of thousands of voices sixty years ago that proclaimed “I am Spartacus!”. Perhaps the last of the leading men of Hollywood’s pre-1950 Golden Age is now with his long-departed peers. Here’s how the town’s Hollywood Reporter broke the news:

There was absolutely no order in the court on the midseason finale of Dynasty.
And that's exactly what we expected considering the new and improved Alexis Carrington Colby made her epic return on Dynasty Season 3 Episode 8.
Da Erica Brown truly had an ace up her sleeve when it came to the secret witness.
Though Alexis' moment of glory was brief, there's no doubt she's going to put a wrench in Blake's murder trial when episodes return in 2020.
Blake and Anders prematurely celebrated his win, but Alexis serves as a reminder that he's made plenty of enemies over the years that will gladly watch him go down.
Blake: It's almost like you planned this.
Fallon: Who would do such a thing?
Blake: I would. Which is how I know you did.

Since any New York City cinephile has a nearly suffocating wealth of theatrical options, we figured it’d be best to compile some of the more worthwhile repertory showings into one handy list. Displayed below are a few of the city’s most reliable theaters and links to screenings of their weekend offerings — films you’re not likely to see in a theater again anytime soon, and many of which are, also, on 35mm. If you have a chance to attend any of these, we’re of the mind that it’s time extremely well-spent.

The Order pits a campus-based secret society of magic users against werewolves in a story that takes a few episodes to really heat up.
TV
Netflix shows like The Order have an advantage that series that release episodes a week apart don’t have. Potential audiences can give a new show a quick opening binge right away rather than only viewing the always tricky pilot to prove that it’s worthy of being added to their viewing schedule. The Order is definitely a supernatural show that stands alongside The Magicians or The Vampire Diaries, but the true twist to the witches versus werewolves premise doesn’t show up until third episode. College campus drama tropes bog down the first episode a bit, but the central conflict is wholly unique with plenty of humor and well-written dialogue to smooth out the rough edges.

For the first time, Miles received a friend suggestion that he knew on God Friended Me Season 1 Episode 7.
We've seen Miles get deeply invested in the lives of stranger friend suggestions, but we've never seen him deal with something personal.
Uncle T embezzling money from the Harlem Episcopal Church affected not only Miles but also his family.
What could have been a messy episode turned out to be a family-centric episode filled with lessons about love, redemption, and the idea that a family can overcome anything together.
How do they do it?
Uncle T was a good con-artist and an even better sweet talker, but fortunately, his family saw right through him.
