This episode will leave you wanting for more. It is gruesome, violent and most importantly keeps you engaged for full 54 mins. It is an epic end to the first season. The episode moves at a considerable fast pace than the others. The end battle sequence were as bloody as they gets , there is one scene that will literally blow your mind. The ending is quite justifiable and somewhat predictable. However ,it doesn't concludes all the stories it begun with, which gives some hope that there will be second season. It is great fun to watch. Great Dialogues, incredible acting, beautiful locations ,makes this episode a huge finale.......

The Danes task Aethelwold with the mission of killing King Alfred. Uhtred travels back to Mildrith's estate, to find the tragedy that their son has died, Iseult believes she was the cause of the death, saving the King's sons life in favour of Uhtred's. Mildrith lives, as does Odda the elder. Alfred sends out word to muster an Army, to fight the Danes, Alfred unites the armies of England, in order to defeat their enemies.
This was one of those shows I simply didn't want to end, it has been exciting, educational, gripping, sometimes tough viewing, but captivating from start to finish. The scene involving Odda and his son was an incredibly powerful moment, as was Alfred's speech to the Armies of England, hugely powerful moments.
I cannot decide whether it's Alex Dreymon or David Dawson that stole the show, both were absolutely outstanding once again.
Loved this final part, possibly the best entry in the series. I was so glad to learn that a second series of ten episodes had been commissioned, sad we lost Banished, but great that we've retained The Last Kingdom, long may it continue. 10/10
Captivating.

Love this episode! Watching King Alfred and Uhtred working together for Wessex and England was sooo satisfying! It was very emotional to see all the men in England come to King Alfred's call to fight the Danes. The battle was also amazing to watch. I had goosebumps.
Good not Great

A dashing, entertaining and tense finale. Everything to the story has lead up to this. The battle sequences were fantastic and well-shot, even though some of the vfx was distracting. A lot is at stake and that keeps you at the edge of your seat. As expected some familiar characters are killed off, but the main players are still at play, can't wait to find out where their stories go from here on. Overall, my sum-up feeling for the first season of The Last kingdom is that it's good but not great. There are some areas to the story that aren't compelling enough and so are the characters. The Danes which are the main antagonists in this case are very one-dimensional and not developed well. They do not appear as a threat like, say, in the show Vikings. However, the cast performance is consistent, the production value is really good and the technical elements are excellent as well. I'll expect more interesting stuff from S2.

First of all I'm a fan of this show and I'll be waiting for season's 2 release and season 1 started off well and exceeded my expectations.
The season finale could've been much better if certain scenes were not just there as they made absolutely no sense like Uthred breaking the danes shield wall and killing many of them without even getting a scratch and then father beocca handing him the spear from half the field away, another problem was how was Uthred's voice was heard through the Saxons army giving the commands of advancing or halting. I'm not an expert of warfare but there was no way he could organize their frontline by just screaming at them and then the rest to follow his lead. I'm not nitpicking but these scenes among others made this episode just bad to the point of laughing.
However I enjoyed almost the rest of the episode like the last battle sequence. It was well done and the soundtrack was really good also the deaths of queen Iseult and his son were emotional.

Predictably the innocent that was sacrificed was his son. Predictably she gets killed. I'm ok with those. That's how stories work. But there was no reason to make the battle scene so stupid. It was like 300 except 300 was based off comic books so the silly heroics was ok. Here. It was just nonsense.
