All in all promising
senekha-428-49309710 January 2016
Despite all the negativity. It is, and thats what it wants to be, a fun watch. I really don't know what people expect from a sitcom, but it appears to be too much. Not that the show cant fulfill any of these expectations. Guys, it is a sitcom and it has done its job pretty well within the first two episodes. And what job could that be? Entertain me. And it did well...lets hope they get the chance to show some more, i would really looking forward to more episodes. And again to all the people who voted less than six, get a brain and further more don't ruin such a promising new show right from the beginning with your unqualified and unfair reviews...

Wasted opportunity

Warning: Spoilers
The concept isn't terrible, a few of the jokes are decent, and the acting is all over the place. What is really sad is that this show has no ideas. Every week they just get in ridiculous amount of trouble that any normal person would find a way to avoid, and they've already been repeating themselves halfway through the first season.

For example, in the pilot episode, Cooper and his buddies have their TV stolen. They track it down to a house where some sketchy guys live and try to steal it back, but Cooper gets caught and kidnapped. In exchange for getting Cooper back, they have to give the guys an expensive brand new TV.

A few episodes later, Cooper gets his phone stolen. They track it down to a sorority house where a party is going on. Cooper's brother is in his brand-new SUV and encounters the teenagers who stole the phone. They steal his clothes and set his new SUV on fire.

There are some small differences, but these two episodes are almost exactly the same plot. In fact, if you break it down, almost every episode has a similar story arc. You can expect at some point in every episode they're going to tick off a dangerous person and either end up running for their lives or getting punched in the face. In fact, in the episode that's on right now they just ticked off their landlord and he shot a hole in the ceiling.

I See Potential So Far...
MovieHoliks25 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I've seen a few episodes so far of this series, and pretty amusing. It seems a little "deja vu" though since didn't Fox do a similar show to this about ten years ago or so called "Free Ride"-?? That may not have been the only one.

This show pertains to a twenty-something character (the titular "Cooper Barrett"), and, along with his live-in buddies, his fight for survival in the post-higher education environment. He occasionally must go beg his older bro (really the only actor I recognize on this show so far- "The Hangover"'s Justin Bartha) for help, but mostly must think of creative ways to get out of entering the work force and becoming a responsible, contributing adult.

Each show begins with a dilemma, and then flashes back to how he and his associates got themselves into said dilemma. One episode had the main characters attempting a "start-up" company for a "hangover cure". My favorite involved the theft of the TV, and attempt to get back. LOL

Cooper Barrett hurts to watch, because it is almost good
Toad_finger29 November 2016
Cooper Barrett does nothing new in the 2010s of single-camera 20- something to 30-something bachelor sitcoms. It's venturing in a sea of canceled shows, finished shows and currently airing shows that have more to offer than it.

Cooper Barrett represents a skeleton of a great show where the writing just isn't good enough. The show could really use some sharper, funnier writing. The jokes aren't hitting that well consistently, the show is so close to being funny, because the style of comedy in this show is right up my alley. The cast is fine, but they lack the pizazz, the flare and true symmetry of a cast from let's say, New Girl or Don't Trust the B----, and Don't Trust the B- --- is not that much better than Cooper but what it has is sharper timing on jokes and better delivery.

Cooper Barrett himself is probably the lowest point of the show, and that's not terrible since he's just dull and not intolerable, however he seems like a Nickelodeon sitcom teen grown up and given his own show, he's generic in the sense that he ends up attracting most of the attractive side characters in the show and he looks good, but his interests and personality is nothing unique enough to write home about.

Cooper Barrett is just enjoyable enough for me to finish watching the first season and I'm genuinely curious if the show falling short was just due to the show not having enough time to truly find it's groove or if the cast/writing wasn't up to par.

Cooper Barrett's Guide to Surviving Life,is not as bad as people say it is.

Even though many people didn't like this show,i found it entertaining. In the present day this is the only TV show that has a element of Hangover movies in it. I personally think you gotta give this show a chance. First watch, then make the choice.Don't get into a third person review, watch it,the series is really fun to watch!

likable cast
SnoopyStyle12 June 2016
Cooper Barrett (Jack Cutmore-Scott), Barry Sandel (James Earl), and Neal Fissley (Charlie Saxton) are school friends, and twenty something roommates. They come up with a hangover cure. There's the neighbor Kelly Bishop (Meaghan Rath), Cooper's brother Josh (Justin Bartha) and his wife Leslie (Liza Lapira). The premise is that they make stupid mistakes teaching the audience what not to do.

This is a fun likable multi-ethnic young group. None of them are outrageously funny. There is good chemistry. It's nothing special and no big laughs. It works to some extent but canceled after a half season.

Another fail from Fox
kld00683 January 2016
The half hour after the Simpsons on Sunday nights has always been hard for Fox to fill with something good. This offering certainly isn't cutting it. The show is actually on while I'm typing this, which may be some indication of how little it's holding my attention. I'd say it's like the Hangover and Van Wilder with a touch of Animal House liquefied in a blender then put in a centrifuge to extract any of the good parts then the dregs used to create this show. The characters are uninteresting. The story is lame and without substance. At the end of the show you don't care if the characters lived or died, succeeded or failed, or whether they ever air another episode in the series.

The best part about this show it that if continues to air it opens up 30 minutes on Sunday evening to do the dishes and prep for work Monday morning.

Poorly Marketed
vacancy16 February 2016
Based on the previews, I thought this was a scripted version of Jack Ass. A couple months later, I noticed it on Hulu, and decided to give it a look. Color me surprised. Not only is it not in the least like Jack Ass, it's a pretty well written comedy that, while not really breaking new ground, does a very good job of repackaging elements in an entertaining way that feels fresh. The first, and so far, only, episodes have been a nice treat after a long day.

Wow. Apparently, my review isn't long enough, so I'll risk blocking by trying to expand it, without adding anything more. Why? Because I think I pretty much summed it up. Surprisingly good show.

Not a good sign
flyboy8524 January 2016
From the look of it, it's a show with so much promise. Unfortunately, it's badly executed. Is it trying to be Malcolm in the middle? Garrett is constantly talking to the camera as a narrative, then the scenes cut back and forth. It's mimicking Malcolm in the middle but without the sweetness and innocence. Why does every show these days have to promote drug use? Every time someone says party, there has to be a guy in the next scene with a bag of pills. Then the next cut has to be excessive drinking. Then a trashy apartment. Is that really what we call entertaining? Is that the 'best' American humor on TV? This kind of screen writing is just lazy. This isn't going to be a good start for shows in 2016. Sadly.

Really good show, I want many episodes of it
saphira-2845431 March 2016
What's wrong with all the people who complain about writing and acting? The acting is perfect and there are no plot holes. As it's said at the beginning of the episode, the characters are going into troubles that may appear in every man life and they go from bad to worse. The result is really funny and sometimes, emotional as well. But in the end, they fix everything and warn people about overreacting in an entertaining way. They have fun and learn about life, and so do you if you watch it. Don't listen to the haters. This show has everything that a sitcom should have. It's funny, with nice characters and realistic situations in a teen life. Watch it and come back here to fix it's rating so this show will have a better chance despite all the haters :D

Mind numbing
satellite_ss24 April 2016
So I started to watch the show with good spirits(yes a slightly tipsy and ready for some good comic entertainment)...but as I went on further to watch a few more episodes I started to sober up. How? Because this show is made for a mindless nut who has nothing better to do. No real ideas in the show. It's just absolutely absurd as waiting for Godot. Who wrote this script? The situations on the show are mind numbing and silly. I think it was made for and by a 5 year old. Where is this show trying to fit itself really? So they covered the basics like 3 dudes a girl and an apartment clubbed either ridiculous situations clubbed with a romance between the main character and a fellow apartment resident. So you got all the ingredients that a show should have...but unfortunately it has no direction and is nothing but absurd and a real joke of a show. End story- definitely not worth your time. You may make it through 2 episodes but once you go further it gets dumber and dumber till your brain hurts.

Life hilarities
olive-ma23 February 2019
It is a story about a group of graduates at the beginning of their careers going through mishaps and hilarities in life, and resolving them to a good end. The style was relaxing and fun. It brushed upon the value of comradeship among friends, the comedic dynamic between siblings, the inevitable need to face and resolve emotional backlogs, and the likely requirement of timing in getting girls. The story stands complete in this series. Good for chilling.

The typical FOX sit-com formula minus the talent and writing
Coralknight10 January 2016
In the style of too many FOX sit-coms to count (some successful, some not) this one stands out for the fact that it has the same formula (outsider/goofball talking to the camera & giving voice-overs throughout, bumbling side-kicks, token non-threatening black friend and fast-paced editing) but goes to show how bad this formula is when you don't add good actors and writers as part of the variables. Not since "Sons of Tucson" have I seen something so painfully bad from FOX that it makes me wonder whose favor was called in to get this on the air. In sum, this show will be lucky if it outlives the time it takes me to hit "submit" for this article to when it goes live.

Takes at least 100 IQ to laugh at
mattmillerlite2216 November 2016
Yeah this show is just getting thrashed by the people who watch FOX too much. FOX loves to dumb down shows so EVERYONE can understand EVERY humorous situation, so I can see why 90% of the funny moments can go over your head if you can't relate or understand all the context to the funny lines which make it funny. Takes a little bit of thinking almost.

To my fellow lovers of the legendary comedies like scrubs or always sunny, you will definitely love this show.

If your definition of really funny is how i met your mother (which is one of the better hold your hand laugh track programs, ill admit) and you sit there wondering why some people in your life quote always sunny like religion when it "doesn't even make sense" then you should probably avoid this show

oh oh and enough with the malcom in the middle comparisons. breaking the fourth wall is just that, its not malcom in the middling

all in all i like it
apollo-8451426 January 2016
all in all i enjoy it, it gets more then a chuckle out of me which now a days is fairly hard to do.

the cast is entertaining and the story is pretty funny.

i don't know what they replaced with this but i can say i was never interested in it.

I'm just waiting on the next episode to be put on Hulu so i can watch it.

i am honestly excited to see where the show goes from here. I read some of the reviews before deciding to post because over all they are fairly negative, but i think this show deserves a honest shot on the line up. it is centered to a certain age group and it nails it's age group on it's head.
