Hard Sci-Fi. I like it. If you wanted syfy, go to the syfy channel. You might find some between wrestling and prank shows.
twayneking13 December 2015
The reviews sound like an "I Hate Stitchers" club got together to trash this series. There's precious little sci-fi anymore that isn't some prurient, anything to get the women naked, kind of crap. The characters talk fast, the mental disorder is imaginary (hey, it's fiction people), and some of you don't like it. Don't watch, but to hope it doesn't last longer than the pilot is kind of a crappy attitude - like if you don't like it, no one else should see it. What a load of arrogant, self-serving claptrap. I like the series so far. I enjoy seeing some familiar faces from Eureka and Warehouse 13. I'll watch the series. I like hard SF. There's no sorcery, no swords, no semi-nude barbarian women. Not everybody is a social twelve year old.

Something new and entertaining
debvee6025 June 2015
I just finished watching the third episode of Stitchers. I read the bad reviews above and don't agree. This show is interesting. Each episode so far has promised something more to be revealed about the plot. The premise, that a group of young scientists working for a secret organization that can probe the minds of the recently deceased, is an interesting one. If only the dead could talk.... I've enjoyed all the episodes so far - fast-paced goal centered, not a lot of drama (too much drama irritates me), some humor and characters that are slowly being revealed and getting to know each other. I like that there is not a lot of "meaningful conversation", but just the banter that normally passes between coworkers. No it's not philosophically deep or scientifically accurate - but it's entertaining.

Warning: Spoilers
When I checked the reviews after watching the first six episodes I was honestly surprised by how bad most of them were. Because I really enjoy this show so far.

It's not without its fault, but it's entertaining enough. The science part of it is obviously very fictionalized which I can understand how it may turn some people off, but I didn't mind. It served to the plot, so it's forgivable.

The performances were decent. I thought that Emma Ishta did a good job at portraying the cold and emotionally detached Kirsten. The rest of the cast also do a good job. I also quite liked that it has racial diversity.

On the characters, I prefer Camille and Linus to Kirsten and Cameron, but on the whole, all characters are interesting enough.

There's Something Wonderfully 1990's About This Show
annier-9257720 November 2015
This show feels different than other TV being produced right now. In some wonderful combination of styling, casting and writing they have managed to create something that feels simultaneously fresh and current and like a TV show from the 1990's. Here's why:

Styling: None of the women look like they have spent a minimum of 3 hours curling their hair, applying fake eyelashes, & glossing themselves up. I didn't realize how much of a problem this has become in today's TV until I re-watched Twin Peaks and was shocked by how supremely un-sexilly Lara Flynn Boyle was styled, and I remembered her being a sex-symbol at the time! This show takes a more realistic middle road: If the scene calls for them to dress up and get sexy the do, but they don't look at all times like they are ready for the runway. Any realism is lost when your female cop character, for example, tries to fit into her male dominated profession by being as girly or sexy as possible and wearing high heals to chase perps. In this show the female characters are like regular people, sexy sometimes, professional other times. The styling of this show is refreshing for the men too. I can't believe they let us get through multiple episodes before we found out if the male leads have abs or not. No shirtless scenes inserted for no reason in the first 15 min of every show! And then when they are shirtless, they don't look like they had just furiously worked out so that every vein and muscle is maximally (sometimes grotesquely) bulged. Yep, TV today is hard on men too. This show feels different. Better.

Casting: People were clearly cast for character and talent rather than just looks (no casting interchangeable pretty people in all the roles). They all feel authentic. The male leads are more geeky than usually cast these days and this makes you want the love stories to work out even more; it's not just mutual prettiness that makes these matches good. This is also reminiscent of 1990's TV. Allison Scagliotti (who was also great on Warehouse 13) is quirky and funny and awesome. You really want to root for the four main young leads.

Writing: It's a good sci-fi / murder-mystery with a long story that keeps you coming back to get more answers while each week's mystery is satisfyingly resolved. The sci-fi and mystery elements feel fairly new, even if the cop-procedural part of the show is familiar. Even so, there is something refreshing in the way that those more common grounds are explored. Here again, with the relationships and character development, it feels a bit like a 1990's show. It's just so ... feminist, for lack of a better word. I can't even put my finger on what's different, but something is. There's something in the way the female leads approach their lives, careers, sex lives and friendships that just seems so grown up. Just look at the way Linus and Camille's relationship was written -it seems very unusual, with the power dynamic switched from what we would normally see, without making it seem like they are making some kind of point. No, it just feels fun and entertaining and light.

I highly recommend this show!

Promising but ruined by bad casting of Emma Ishta
kmm-5414811 January 2022
The show is watchable and some characters are interesting and enjoyable to watch. So many flaws in the story line but it is fictional and who cares. Unfortunately the casting of Emma Ishta ruined it for me. Forced acting, and bad hairstyles almost forced me to switch off after season 1. She just doesn't have presence or a natural ability to act. American accent kept dropping and her acting skills are sub par. The casting of the rest of the cast saved the show for me. By season 3 I was fast forwarding through a lot of her scenes.

This show doesn't waste time with details
ecoprincess30 June 2015
I think this show has tons of potential, although I like it just the way it is now. I mean it has the potential to last several seasons, and I hope it does.

Other reviews have given the basic info on what the show is about - a sci-fi crime show starring a bunch of smart young people, sort of like NCIS meet Dr. No. The producers use a sort of TV shorthand: instead of a long, complicated back story, the Federal agency that "recruits" Kristin is merely described as "you can't guess what it is", or words to that effect. Why waste time on yet another series of flashbacks and explanations? We all know what they're talking about. Some of the other reviewers are bothered by the impossibility and "scientific" inadequacy of the work space where the corpses are kept on hand for the stitching process. Again, so what? We've been watching Star Trek and Dr. No for years without worrying about it - the flashing lights and dim floating bodies are all one needs to get it; this is a science fiction detective show, for heaven's sake.

I really like the way the geeks, including Kristin and her abrasive roommate, Camille, communicate. Along with the boys in the lab, they are unapologetically smarter than most of the rest of the humans in the world, and don't bother with the cutesy salutes to normal people that some shows use to make smart people more accessible. House and Monk are both examples of exceptionally unlikable people who nonetheless obtained a loyal fan following based on how their characters solved problems, and I think the same will happen with this show.

I love the way some of the characters in this show zoom through pretty complicated dialogue with no explanation or apology, and call me crazy, but I thought Kristin's first experience stitching was gripping; the hyper- ventilation was a nice touch, and totally believable.

I say give them a couple of seasons to show their stuff; they certainly got my attention.

Stitch them up!
Dr_Sagan1 June 2015
Well, this is another sci-fi-ish series with the unoriginal idea to examine people's memories to find clues that could help prevent a crime like a bombing. Instantly my mind went to "Source code" (because in the pilot is about hidden bombs too), but if you count that these memories are from ...dead people you may also have an iZombie rip-off (which I stop seeing as I got bored).

There is a secret federal Agency, of course. And a special lab. And some Special hackers and scientists. And the heroine is ...special, with some form of brain dysplasia (like maybe the producers???). And everything is ...special BUT the problem is doesn't feel like it.

Emma Ishta, the lead actress, looks like a cross between a tall Scarlett Johansson and Taylor Swift but she is annoying as @#$&@. A pretty good reason NOT to see the show.

Technically also is sub-par. The graphics during the flashback are uninspiring and you've seen it before a 1000 times.

So. What is the target audience for this? I'm not sure. But I'm pretty sure I'm not in it. I suspect most of you too...

a brilliant girl, with no social attachments, has to work with a secret agency to fight criminals. only she has to get in touch with the dead last memories to find the clues.
kukumiko18 June 2015
I think this show is interesting. it is true that there is alway this circle that a couple of series would stick to, but I think this show is going to get better if it gets a shot just like the other TV shows. the main characters are interesting, and from the three episodes I have seen so far, they are being better developed each time. the plot at first seems so obvious and nothing much to expect, but as we keep watching it reveals that nothing is what is seems to be, maybe somethings are easy to predict still not all of them which push the suspense admirers stick to the show a little bit more. I believe that around the 10th episode it will receive better critics and more followers. you will never know until you try.

I miss it...
abs-7565717 April 2018
I really, really love this show. I was really upset when it was cancelled, and I still am upset about it months later. Great story line, great writing, great directing, great cast. I really hoped this one would last a long time because there was really nothing like it being produced. This show and its story line are truly unique. Hopefully in the future someone will revamp it (with the same cast, of course!) so that I can actually enjoy watching t.v. again.

ok sci-fi deteriorates
SnoopyStyle18 January 2018
College student Kirsten Clark (Emma Ishta) suffers from temporal dysplasia, an inability to sense the passage of time. She is recruited into the highly secret government Stitcher program. It is an experimental machine used to tap into the memories of the recently deceased. Maggie Baptiste is the leader and Cameron Goodkin is the leading scientist. Kirsten's roommate Camille Engelson is revealed to be monitoring her for the program before she was recruited. Kirsten's dead father is revealed to be connected to the Stitcher program.

Emma Ishta is not that good as an actress. That's why her social awkwardness with the temporal dysplasia is so helpful. She actually fits her character. The show suffers after her normalization. The sci-fi premise is ok and the stitching is not the most compelling aspect of the show. I guess a wet Emma injects some sexiness but it's all a little cheap. Allison Scagliotti provides good sass but it's not always maximized. The start is acceptable level of TV sci-fi but the show deteriorates over its three year run.

Season 3 failed for one reason...
warpedauratv14 August 2022
Show was a good sci-fi show, then in season 3 they decided to spend a good portion of each episode focusing in the characters romantic relationships. 3 different couples all making out with their partners on every show. I had to fast forward so much just to get back to the plot. That ruined it.

Work in Progess
suckitusername13 July 2015
If you are looking to base an entire series off of the first episode, don't want Stitchers. The more episodes you watch, the better it becomes. It starts off rocky, but it transforms into a show with humor (by Camille and Cameron) and intelligence (brought by all the characters). I'd say the show is somewhere between Nikita and The Flash.

When people say ABC Family's new series Stitchers is a rip-off of iZombie, they are wrong. The fact is: both shows are good, both are similar, and both were made at the same time. One did not rip-off the other.

I went into this show thinking it was going to be awful, but I was happily mistaken. From Camille to Linus the characters are swell and a joy to watch. The main character Kirsten is a work in progess, but the cast and crew have said that she will grow. As the characters grow, this show will only get better. The plot line of Stitchers is like many before, but it brings its own to the party. I'm excited to see how the plot line and characters change throughout the series.

I would recommend watching if you like Sci-Fi comedy.

Assasins creed meets Bones, meets every other CSI/NCSI/Etc...
dontakeitpersonal14 April 2022
I think you just don't need to overthink this. There are some irregularities, but they "had to" otherwise they couldn't get the story going. So don't question why things happen as they happen, it is what it is. Lots of predictabilities, so nothing really exciting per episode. They ticked the box to have a difficult family members( brother Camille, father Kirsten etc..), episode of contaminated body (still need to watch season 3) I am still giving this a 7 because..well...it's nothing creative, but neither are the others that I'm comparing it too. So you know...switch off your brain and have a look. Or have it on the background, whilest doing something else.

"NCIS: Melrose Place" With Science.
kkaldroma17 May 2020
This show started with a pretty good premise which was setup well in the first episode and flushed out in the first few. That was all abruptly abandoned partway into the first season. I assume higher ups at the network watched, didn't get it, and said "be more like (show on another network I never saw)" so the writers stripped everything down to the bare minimum of story line and added (other shows) elements. Then the show became a police procedural crime fighting drama for young adults. The stitcher technology became a thing they had to do to get to the crime solving when it was the MacGuffin that could have driven the show in any direction.

TL;DL: The show had a lot of promise but quickly went off the rails, I assume network interference. The first season was O.K but then it turned into "NCIS: Melrose Place".

I don't see anyone who could play her better...
mrsfletcher-3139821 June 2015
Honestly I love the show..I like the fact they made her different but not inhuman. She can't feel emotion, she's strictly knowledge, so I don't know how it is you'd think you would act if you were insanely smart but didn't understand society? However they are writing that in the show. She's beginning to understand feelings and how they feel. It's a different world for her so if you expected her to magically change into this normal person than you have really high expectations and should just go back to watching the real housewives. This type of character has been done before Scorpion, Bones, Elementary, Backstrom all have similar character..Highly intelligent people who come off as insensitive and rude because they don't understand the world around them just facts, and some of those shows have been on for years. The difference between them and this one is how they allow the character to feel where she can not, its about the friendship that they are creating with these people who would normally be social outcasts but somehow manage to come together to save lives in a unique way that has not been done before. I think the show is good for entertainment purposes. I think the actress that plays kirsten is doing a find job playing someone who is so remote from the world but you can still see where she nows wants to understand. You can see she's not completely without feeling she may not have cried when Ed died but she's certainly wants justice for his death. I don't act and don't claim to act but if others think they can do a better job at completing the vision of this story. I'd like to see it happen.

Jumped the Shark? Umm...
rsvp3213 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
...I think so!

I really enjoyed S1 - witty, fast pace, character development was nice to watch, and some entertaining episodes.

S2 the plot became very muddled, but I still found it to be an entertaining show.

S3...All over the place! Nothing flows, anymore. Is Emma's mom's brain the big plot now? If it is, I'm not intrigued, at all. Emma and Cameron's romance? Awkward and unnatural. Allison and Anna's relationship? Completely irrelevant to the show, is "filler", and a weird distraction (not because it's a gay relationship - every series has that, now. It's just so badly done!).

And that is the shark - every character is busy every episode, finding their happy endings! *Minimal* brain intruding time, now! It's supposed to be a sci fi show - that's why I watched it in the first place, not this soap opera nonsense!

I will give it one or two more episodes out of charity, then bail if this fast slide continues. I suspect this show's renewal is doomed.

*** E D I T A D D E D ***

I know I said I'd give it a couple more episodes before, but after watching episode 5 I can't cruelly put myself through another one. Pathetic, worst yet, sums S3E5 up. I'm gone. I've lowered my rating from four stars to two.

It could have been great
mamitaylor11 September 2018
The idea was great, I watched the 3 seasons and was left with the feeling that there was no proper ending, I should add I "watched" whilst doing other things, it didn't cached my full attention, but I wouldn't call it (as on other reviews ) unwatchable.... with better writers it could have been a great series, still not sure if it finished or they were thinking about another season....

Love this show!
hannahmcfarland25 June 2015
I know what people have been saying about this show: It's annoying. It's idiotic. The main character bugs them and so on, but I really love this show. I know the premise is a little strange, and it's a little more sci-fi than most people would like, but it's so much more than that, and trust me, I'm not a sci-fi person. There's drama and romance and mystery. The plot just keeps building. I also can't see how someone wouldn't love these characters, especially Cameron in all his nerdy wonderfulness or Camille with her sass and style. So ultimately, I know that most of these shows that ABC Family tacks on to these Monday and Tuesday blocks don't usually last, i.e. Twisted and Ravenswood, but I think this one is the best by far, and I hope it stays!

Do you remember? -- Could be a major spoiler, watch out
tabright377 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This may be a SPOILER -- perhaps even a MAJOR one?? If you go back to the very first episode of the TV series Fringe, you will see something eerily familiar. Agent Dunham goes into a tank of water with electrodes and is.. stitched?.. into her boyfriend's mind. Once their brain waves are synched she goes into his subconscious and sees one of his memories. Furthermore, there is a 6 hr limit after a person has died that you can do this. At the end of the episode you see the boyfriend's corpse being wheeled into a room for interrogation at the 5 hr death mark. I don't know if the idea was borrowed, or sold to this show. But, wouldn't it be kind of cool if that was the big secret on Stitchers?

Best Show Ever in my opinion.
emsandcapone11 June 2015
I'm reading all these reviews about Stitchers being a horrible show, and that the main character, Kirsten, isn't relatable and comes off as snarky and rude. But I think you guys are missing the point of this. Kirsten has a disease in her brain called Temperal Dysplasia, and that disconnects her from her emotions. She's not supposed to be likable, were supposed to learn to like her as she learns to identify and feel different emotions and deal with them as she finds out more information about her real father, while trying to discover who killed her adopted one. This show has a lot of potential to be great and good actors to make it happen. It has a great storyline, and all the characters make me feel something in one way or another. Please give the show an actual try and try seeing things from other points of views before you write a review that could get a lot of people's favorite show cancelled.

Quite good
johngraham19645 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this show. I actually wanted to tune into the next episode, which is more than I can say for some! The premise isn't totally original but it is a nice twist. The acting's OK and it's fun trying to work out what happened to who and why and when etc. A bit of detective mystery wrapped up in a bit of sci fi. I was glad they sorted out the mystery of the original 'stitcher' and you had to feel for Camille who was almost married off in Episode 9 - not what she was expecting at all. A nice number of plot twists as you went along. True there is nothing to confound the brain but for some Summer entertainment I would recommend.

Needs a lot of fine tuning
One of my biggest problems with the show is the main character, Kirsten. Not that the actress playing her is bad, but the way the show has decided to present her is. Because of her condition she unable to feel like the rest of us(which is what makes her perfect for the program she is enlisted for), but her lack of feeling is portrayed as a complete lack of empathy for others. This condition of hers could have been portrayed in an entirely different way. The show has her coming off as a sarcastic, sociopathic narcissistic brat who is very annoying. Instead of feeling something for her because of her handicap, you just want to smack the s@@t out of her. If you cannot like the main character of this show then I don't know if there is much hope for the rest of the season either. I've seen shows much better than this cancelled. So, unless something miraculous happens, I don't believe this show has much of a chance.

Intelligent and Well Written
aceever-8052614 July 2015
This show gives insight into a world of what most people would not imagine. Each character has brains and makes comments that a person only has to be smart enough to understand. The show is not for everyone, but if you are into thinking, ideas that don't always come to mind, and what a human mind can hold than you will really enjoy this show. The characters all have their own personality, but similar ones that help move the story along. The main character may have odd behaviors but I think it helps to add a bit of diversity, and it makes her actions not always easy to foresee. I think each episode is unique but connected, which makes this a great story line and a great show.

Interesting premises.... But
Clouddancer197628 August 2015
this show does what it's suppose to do. It entertains on A geek level with a dash of tongue and cheek, and a sly wink and nod to science fiction. Its Your basic cop show with characters who don't wear uniforms, and drink bad coffee as they complain about the ungrateful public they serve. The blank face of its lead actress does lend credence that her emotions have left the building. Perfect casting. The flirty street wise roommate lends spice rounded out by the prerequisite shady government handler/boss who dances with is she or isn't she one of the good guys, and the two handsome and genius male scientists are both comic foil with dramatic injection when need. It's a good start. I'd like to see what they do with a second season.

This show is not a challenge to Mensa but it doesn't make you regret you spent it with them. I'd like to get to the bottom of the conspiracy, and up the ante on exactly who they stitch. Let's see a assumed terrorist, political hack, unbalanced cult leader and a suspected serial killer with a much larger target in mind. They need to leave their comfort zone. Lie to me, tell me the impossible is possible. Then, show me.

The show is watchable,, with nice new idea but they gotta write A more thrilling, catchy and intriguing crime stories to be solved..
Aktham_Tashtush26 May 2015
So i'v seen the pilot ,, and the idea of the series is fresh , the plot in the beginning was somehow disoriented, things moved really fast from some flashbacks to a girl being a student.. suspension .. to a Lab .. all of that felt like emotionless .

the episode picked itself up when the idea of casting into someones memory was visually presented to us,, but still it didn't feel that intriguing or catchy ,, i mean maybe the story of this episode individually wasn't that good .. and didn't actually get much time from the episode (like less than 20 minutes), so i'm gonna watch the next episode to see what to be changed !!

The one nice grabbing thing i sensed in the episode is the bantering the funny chemistry between Kirsten and Cameron ,, it felt like change of the static scenery in such a still pilot.

The Cast was fine,, mostly new actors ,, Emma Ishta, Kyle Harris.. Allison Scagliotti was in Warehouse13 and on couple other shows but they're all lead by Salli Richardson-Whitfield from Eureka :D i love her .. anyway they're kinda nearly unrecognizable to me from anywhere else (which looks good for the show, meeting new characters and all) ..

Overall ,, the show is watchable ,, but they gotta make the stories in the episodes have more thrill ,, and why not maybe spread a bigger plot over the series and not just a story of Kirsten's dad ...so i'm not yet impressed and i gotta see what they'v got to show in the 2nd episode.
