Prey (2022)
Come on you guys!
What's with the negative reviews? From an entertainment viewpoint, this is an excellent movie. Is it a little unbelievable at times - sure. But does that ruin the entertainment value of the movie, hell no. People seem to really hate that a small woman could defeat this huge creature. He uses his brute force and aggressive nature against him. She on the overhand uses her cunning and weakness to lure him in. Does she have some luck in the process? Of course she does. That's what makes this good entertainment. It's not a true story, just a damn good one!
I also love that a real native american is in the role of a native american. It's long overdue. Watch it with an open mind. Don't pretend at being a movie critic.
Shining Girls (2022)
Give it a chance, It's worth it!!
Okay, I must admit, there are some confusing parts to this series, especially in the first two or three episodes. But just hang in there and it really pays off. I watched the entire series twice and really enjoyed it the second time. Her issues with the changing reality about who she really is - that's the toughest part to understand. When you begin watching you'll get what I'm talking about. But be patient, it will all start to make sense. The acing is very good - Elizabeth Moss, Wagner Moura and Jamie Bell plays a good creepy psychopath. Very good!!!
DMZ (2022)
Give this a chance!!
I must admit I almost quit watching this series. The first 30 to 40 minutes left me wandering if I should continue watching. There are some problems that helped this along. The lack of any back story and trying to figure out what was going on. I mean what happened to make things the way they were??? None of that is explained. Even a brief intro would have helped.
But once you kind of figure out what is happening, you can start to concentrate on the story and characters. Rosario Dawson, Hoon Lee and even Benjamin Bratt are great.
One suggestion - focus on the storyline, character development and interaction - you might just find it worth it.
Dune (2021)
Reminded me of GOT!
I didn't watch the first Dune movie and I didn't read the book. But I've got to admit this movie left me wanting more. So much potential here. Would have preferred this as a tv series. Next installment has a lot of work to do.
The Last Kingdom (2015)
Nothing but good things await!
Another BBC series hit! I am a big fan of Vikings, and am therefore suspicious of all imitations. But I must say that I am loving this show! The atmosphere and backdrop have a very authentic feel and the acting is superb. My favorites characters of this series are Uhtred and King Alfred. Uhtred's identity dilemma and King Alfred's presence as a wise and noble king are captivating. Their chemistry with each other creates a very interesting drama as they go back and forth with each other. As good as the characters and writing are, it is the acting that breath life into both. Make it part of your weekly viewing and you'll be rewarded. Well done!
Taken (2017)
Way better than expected!!!
Okay, let me just start with I am a big fan of Clive Standen. But that being said, since the first episode I have been intrigued and excited to watch the story-line of this show unfold. Sure, like a lot of you I thought this might be another rehash of a movie series lacking all originality, but to my happy surprise it is not. I understand how many viewers may be skeptical of this show, and for good reason. It wouldn't be the first time a major network tried to capitalize on something like this. But if your looking for an opinion about this show, mine would be to give it a chance. It is well written, well acted, and it seems to be heading in it's own direction, regardless of the series title. Not only that, but there is some real chemistry here between the characters.
It's true you may not like it as much as do, but with all the crap being peddled out there in many of the TV series by the major networks, this one deserves a shot. Who knows, this might even become one of those series that we need a weekly fix of. Sure hope so, but so far so good.

Scream (2015)
A little more realism please!
Like other viewers, I want to like this show. But it needs work. I am willing to give it a chance with a few more episodes before I call it quits. It may sound petty, but one of my pet peeves with the show is the way the high school students are portrayed. Drinking at will, absolutely no parental supervision, behaving more like adults than young adults. They act (and look) more like college students than high schoolers. So, why not simply have the characters be college age instead of something that is harder to accept. I like MTV's Finding Carter, but I have the same complaint for that show as well. It's a little easier to stomach though, because their is less storyline to take on faith in that series. I would like a little more realism for the characters age and behavior is all. But, it looks like that has already been decided. Too bad, a little innocence and naiveté would go a long way in making the characters and show more believable.
Stitchers (2015)
Needs a lot of fine tuning
One of my biggest problems with the show is the main character, Kirsten. Not that the actress playing her is bad, but the way the show has decided to present her is. Because of her condition she unable to feel like the rest of us(which is what makes her perfect for the program she is enlisted for), but her lack of feeling is portrayed as a complete lack of empathy for others. This condition of hers could have been portrayed in an entirely different way. The show has her coming off as a sarcastic, sociopathic narcissistic brat who is very annoying. Instead of feeling something for her because of her handicap, you just want to smack the s@@t out of her. If you cannot like the main character of this show then I don't know if there is much hope for the rest of the season either. I've seen shows much better than this cancelled. So, unless something miraculous happens, I don't believe this show has much of a chance.
