Surprisingly good
toprakcienfal12 July 2022
Wow, i really didn't expect that much from this episode. It starts with a cool theme and i enjoyed this vibe throughout the episode and i liked our new character; Lucy. She is one of the characters which written well, (unlike Amy Schumer) and the actress who gives live to character seems like enjoying her job and loving the character. Things went really well and at the end of the episode i was really hyped. They made such a good episode, can't wait to learn what happens next.

The Walls Have Eyes
It has been established earlier on in the series that the Arconia - the 'Building' of the title - had been planned to include secret passages and at least one private lift. Both had been designed by the architect, used by his descendants, and gradually discovered by the youngest inhabitants of the Arconia, generation after generation.

This episode, 'Here's Looking at You', suggests that the secret passages are more the size and breadth of servants' corridors, connecting all parts of the large building, and wide enough to allow groups. Further disbelief is invited when we are shown the same stretch of a dimly-lit passage, scene after scene, as the characters navigate the hidden networks. tt12851524 can be inventive and sharp; it can also double as Scooby Doo, Where Are You! (1969).

Lucy, a previously-mentioned character, is introduced in person. Her part is beautifully delivered by Zoe Colletti, but has little consistency: fluctuating between a wise guide and a caricature of a teenager, Lucy is less a person and more a practical device that either advances the plot, or serves to better define the main trio of characters, with emphasis on Charles (Steve Martin).

There is a bloody knife stuck in the ceiling. Neither Cara Delevingne nor Amy Schumer make an appearance. Nathan Lane delivers an inspired speech in a come-back of Teddy Dimas. Altogether, the episode may not be a highlight of the second series, but neither is it bad.

Enter the Daughter

We are exposed to the catacombs of the building when the daughter shows up. She is insightful and believable in her admiration for her father. We are shown why someone seems to know what is going on and why evidence keeps showing up in the apartment, including a bloody knife.

Very charming episode
mcelwood12 July 2022
This is easily one of my favorite episodes so far. Zoe Colletti really brought a lot to her role, and her connection with Charles was very sweet. This episode contained several heartfelt character moments that were acted remarkably by every cast member. Only Murders in the Building has always been a very charming series, but this episode cranks it up to 11 without forgetting its wonderful sense of humor. Also, the surprise ending was great to see. Can't wait for next week's episode!

Best ep yet

Best episode of season 2 by far. Lucy is a terrific addition to the proceedings. This episode was easily on par with anything season 1 had to offer. And season 1 was brilliant. This episode brings the show back to proper form.

Funny as hell, worth a watch

An out-of-the-context opening throws you off a bit at first in episode 4 of Only Murders in The Building Season 2. A younger Charles is seen singing a song with Lucy, a small girl. Subsequently, we see the grown-up Lucy in a decrypt place recording herself. In the present, Charles "chats" with her on mobile. Lucy says Charles' ex-wife is getting married - again - and that Lucy might come to visit him sometime soon. Charles starts the Brazos shooting in a jolly spirit that does not long. The director lets him know of certain changes the studio has made to his character in light of his delicate situation with law enforcement. For safety and promptly writing him out of the show if things go awry, they have made him a little "demented" and put him in a "wheelchair". This is one of the most quotable episodes in the entire two seasons of the show. I couldn't find a single one-liner better than the other to put in here. They're all great. 'Here's Looking at You' is the perfect representation of the mix of drama and comedy that we expect. The balance is pristine. You laugh and tear up at different occasions in the same tenor of the storytelling. We also get important clues about the murderer in the form of Charles' daughter, Lucy, from his ex-wife. She was present in the building that night and heard voices of the act taking place in the secret passage. First, the murderer is a man. And secondly, he is allergic to dust (it seems). It is also insinuated that it is somebody from the building and it is quite likely that assertion is true. So, this would eliminate a lot of people in one go. The ladies, I mean. The father-child trope was recurring throughout. It was refreshing to see some part of Charles' past, probably the only protagonist whom the creators have kept a little secretive all this while. In Oliver's wonderful creative flair, the "Arcatacombs" is a stunning revelation and discovery for the show. It really opens doors for endless possibilities and if used correctly, will keep us guessing until the very end. This episode should be front and center whenever one wants to test out the show as a whole. If anyone asks why, 'Here's Looking at You' is the answer.

Best episode this season
sendphotopls15 July 2022
FINALLY.

After an intriguing S2E1, I was hesitant about the myriad of storyline additions they were introducing out of fear they would take focus away from what made this show so good in season one - our three main characters on screen together. S2E2 proved these fears correct and we got the worst episode of the series yet. Bad writing, terrible acting from the newcomers & messy, half-baked plot lines I just don't care about. S2E3 was a step in the right direction, but still wasn't scratching the itch I had after season one ended...

In comes S2E4 to save the day.

I mean wow, everything about this episode was head and shoulders above what we've gotten in this new installment so far. The writing was clever and genuinely funny, the editing was perfectly timed, the acting was obviously fantastic and never once took me out of it & that reveal of Lucy's intro video actually taking place where it did was the cherry on top to seal it up as one of the strongest showings we've gotten yet. It's genuinely mind boggling how much the writing quality has fluctuated this season - 2 & 3 were filled with corny cliche lines, characters saying witty quips to no one but the camera & genuinely bad acting from every new character outside of Lucy.

Less is more with this show and hopefully they realize that sooner than later. THIS is what makes the show great, and I pray the show's creative staff sees that too.

Here's Looking at You
Prismark1014 November 2022
There are some returning characters in episode four. Teddy Dimas (Nathan Lane) is back in the Arconia. Out on bail until his trial.

He bumps into Oliver in elevator and leaves no doubt what he plans to do to Oliver and it will be hard.

As for Charles he returns as Brazzos is rebooted. To Charles shock, his character has had last minute changes dictated by the studio just in case Charles is found guilty.

Charles gets another surprise as his daughter Lucy shows up at the Arconia. Father and daughter have been apart for some time. Lucy also knows some inner secrets about the Arconia, she played hide and seek there as a child.

The character of Lucy and her backstory was a good addition. I did wonder she had a good memory about the inner passages of the building.

There were also some emotional father and son moments. It led to Oliver to the yellow brick road.

A very good episode which I enjoyed a lot. It was nice to see the returning faces.

You know you can clean a knife, right?
anhard-von-thuengen13 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I like this show. I like and care for the characters. But boy does it make me angry when they behave as stupidly as they do with the knife. My first reaction would have been to clean it immediately. There is no point in hoping it will serve as proof of your innocence since you already touched it with your bare skin so what reason could you possibly have to keep this around? And why would you throw it away? It is still a perfectly good knife. There was a knife in the first season as well and they also decided to throw it away instead of cleaning it!? What was going on in the writers room in this scene? Quick tip: if you suspect your audience will shout at the screen for your characters to do a specific completely obvious thing maybe you should let your characters at least talk about that.

Episode 204
bobcobb3018 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The Lucy character is good, but I feel like this episode shook things up a bit too much. A hidden elevator was one thing, but walls so people could see every apartment in the building? Too much.

Brazzos once again
AvionPrince169 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Charles realised how the studio turn things wrong for Brazzos and the daughter of Charles come back in the house. Mabel try to understand her. And we discover a knife that imply in some murder. Lina is becoming more and more a suspect. And they discover a secret piece in Charles 's appartment. And Lina act pretty weird and maybe have some reasons to kill Bunny. And we see that the Son of Ted have some problems together. And Nina see maybe the baby come a little bit more early. And we know also that the daughter of Charles hide something behind the real reason she is here: she wanted to have more time with her Dad. And she has seen some things the night of Bunny's murder. And we see a familiar face at the end and its Jane

The episode still have the comedy side and keep going on in the same spirit than the other episodes. And the investigations reveal new things that make us more imply in the case and more invest to find the killer with our 3 main characters. We know a little more with Charles family. And Oliver to with his son. The presence of the daughter of Charles give a new elements on the case because she was there. A Nice episode with new elements in the case and new perspective(from the daughter). And the perspective to see again Jen make things more interesting.

Seriously...
shoppingcelina6 May 2023
Once again a Hollywood production decided to completely dramatize and demonize pregnancy and labor. If these crappy writers can't manage to even research what pregnancy and labor actually look like then they shouldn't be writing about it. Making jokes about a pregnant woman being hormonal are low bar and disrespectful to women. The first contraction a woman has is not a sudden emergency situation. Most women are in labor for hours and for a first child labor can go for 24 to 72 hours. Calling an ambulance is not necessary and neither is going to a hospital at all. Also most women's "waters" do not break at the start of labor and are often a slow trickle not a dramatic gush. If a woman's first response to going into labor is to panic and ask men what she's supposed to do then she's an idiot and shouldn't be having a child. This show was obviously written by idiots.

Tedious, and not improving
AmbroseHoneysuckle16 July 2022
The first two-fifths of this episode leaned much too heavily on the "humor" of Charles and Oliver being sad, attention-starved and insensitive, without providing enough new mystery to break up the tedium, to the point that I nearly quit watching the season. After I came back to it, though, it picked up almost immediately, with a couple of excellent new twists. This season took longer than season 1 to find its legs, but I think it's finally headed in the right direction.
