Only Murders in the Building: The Tell (2022)
Brilliant!
I was not pleased with the first episode of season two. But season 2 has continued to improve in quality since then, with this episode and the one before it being some of the best of the series. Just brilliant. I have no idea why so many folks are whingeing on about people who cannot act. Everyone in this episode does an impeccable job. Thank you Hulu for providing us with this show.
Only Murders in the Building: Here's Looking at You (2022)
Best ep yet
Best episode of season 2 by far. Lucy is a terrific addition to the proceedings. This episode was easily on par with anything season 1 had to offer. And season 1 was brilliant. This episode brings the show back to proper form.
Only Murders in the Building: Framed (2022)
Not a fan of Amy Schumer......
I know she's a big star. And if other folks love her in this show, that's fine. I'm not one of them. Her style of gutter humor ("I was riding a motorcycle and s**t myself" line for example), and seemingly mugging for the camera just isn't a good fit in my opinion. Which granted, isn't worth much, but there it is.
Call Me Kat: Call Me a Sporty Giant (2022)
A show hitting its stride
I really enjoyed this episode. Seems like the show is settling in and finding it's stride. A definite uptick in the quality of the writing. Great opportunities for the supporting cast also. My only real beef with this episode is that this show needs to steer well clear of edgy humor. Example: the terribly misguided, misplaced, and unfortunate hospice "joke". Stick with the feel good humor and good nature that is the show's strongest suit.
Ted Lasso: Beard After Hours (2021)
Not a good fit for the series
Brendan Frazier's acting was wonderful, so no fault of his, but this episode was just so tonally off from the rest of the series (much like episode 1 of season 2), that it seemed like perhaps I was watching a dark spin-off show of Ted Lasso. Similar in tone and set up to the great film "After Hours", but set in the Ted Lasso universe, it was just too jarring. I found myself fast forwarding through the alley fight scene, a scene I found too unpleasant to watch. The good news: at least a dog didn't get killed in this one.
Ted Lasso: The Signal (2021)
Excellent!
So glad this season has course-corrected from episode 1. Another excellent episode and No dead dogs!😊
Ted Lasso: Goodbye Earl (2021)
Ugh
Awful episode. Love the rest of the episodes, though!
Timewasters: The Wellness Institute (2017)
Oh my....
I really, really, really wanted to like this series. I love science fiction, I love jazz, I love the 1920's, and time travel stories, and after episode 1 I really liked the cast and thought they did a great job. But, episode 2. I mean, what were they thinking? Maybe it was supposed to be an extended parody about John Harvey Kellogg? And then episode 3. Well, I gave up on the series about halfway through episode 3. So many waisted opportunities to tell a great story with this cast, but unfortunately they just weren't given much to work with. Maybe it gets better after episode 3. I don't know, but after watching about 2 and 1/2 episodes, I can sadly say that Timewasters is an appropriate title.
Only Fools and Horses: A Royal Flush (1986)
Just atrocious
I love Only Fools and Horses. It is such a brilliant show. Not this episode, though. In this episode Del's character is mean-spirited and almost cruel to Rodney at times. This episode makes Del's character look so bad I frankly wish I'd never watched it. Del has always been a handful, but at his core he's a decent man who loves his brother. But that essential quality of goodness is largely missing in this episode. If they were shooting for humor, they missed the mark with this episode. I saw the unedited version, and nearly didn't make it through without turning it off. But I stuck with it, hoping for some whiz-bang ending to make up for the dismal slog that most of this episode is. It didn't arrive. In my opinion, this episode is only for Fools and Horses completists. All that being said, this is an otherwise great series. Every television series has its clunkers, and this episode was theirs.
