I knew Eugene would carry the final judgment since his family died but,
c-lopez_2317 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely loved that Adum perished, as he was one of the most unlikeable characters I've seen in recent memory but I wish Eugene had fired off more than one shot. Also hitting Baxter's wife. Leaving both men crying on the floor next to their loved ones. Would have been better but I'm just happy Adum got what he deserved.

This could have been much better as a movie
ngetsadze18 February 2021
Its not bad, but bit slow and boring sometimes.... If it was going to end this way, maybe it was better to shoot a 2 hour long movie than a an 10 series.

Acting a 10, story a 6
angl915 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Very enjoyable series, but way too many unanswered questions and implausible scenarios. Cranston was outstanding, of course, but can we talk about the crazy good and bone chilling performance of Michael Stuhlbarg-Jimmy Baxter- omg, I will now watch anything with him in it! Margo Martindale is always a winner, and I truly loved the friendship portrayal by Isiah Whitlock Jr. And the city of New Orleans may be my favorite character of them all. Now to admit that I laughed when Adam died, literally laughed out loud. I don't think this was the intended emotion they were going for, but come on! Adam was one of the dumbest characters to ever grace a TV screen, and we can't entirely blame the actor either. What the heck was he doing anywhere near the courtroom? Why did that idiot teacher fall for him? And what was going on with Maura Tierney, was she also supposed to be annoying as hell? I was so distracted by her crazy hair, I couldn't take her seriously. Oh well, some very exciting moments in the series. But it should be over, how can you come back from that?

Poetic Justice
brunette_blueye4 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Those saying it was 'just a shock ending.' It wasn't. It was symbolic of the fact that all things happen for a reason and we can't necessarily weave them to work in our favour just because we will it. Ultimately things work out how they always would, which is why there is the dramatic irony of Adam's death being reflected almost identically with the blood etc as Rocco's. Solid, if not depressing, ending!

What goes around comes around,, but apparently the worst of them sometimes gets a pass!!!
Aktham_Tashtush14 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First of all ,, I do hope showtime consider a "limited" second season ,, because the story for some of us is just incomplete. We always seek justice in shows like these and the loose ends doesn't usually get digested well by the viewers.. in here somewhat they evened some odds and I don't have a problem with that .. but they let some get away.

I don't wanna spoil the finale, so I'll get to the season review. The plot was amazing, based on a previous show, but they made it all looked fresh and just new,, the writing was very good, quick dialog and the events and trials went in a rapid intense drama.. and the ending even-though not that satisfying for a "limited mini series", still was a good one.. (rooting for another 10 or even 6 episodes).

The cast, I mean do I really need to !! Bryan Cranston was phenomenal playing his nervy intense scared for his kid character .. and the last scene shows that with a lot of shocking and heartbreaking image. Michael Stuhlbarg made a very good due with Cranston ... and the kid Eugene (Benjamin Flores Jr.) was really good .. his facial expressions were just great.

Anyhow,, thanks to the guys who re-produced this show and made it possible for us to see this story ... and I know it will be a memorable show for many of us.

Finally, Bryan Cranston is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in the Golden Globes,, I think his gonna do well next March :) 🤞

There is always consequences, one way or another.
amirmahdimaleki14 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I think the series could have ended way sooner with the ending like that. But i think it really gives you the message that you can't run off the outcome of your actions, good or bad the consequences always get you.

Limited Series? Tell a complete story!
OnlyAtJMart14 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is a perfect example of a story written as they go, instead of mapping out a complete story, knowing where to start, and where to end. It seems like they just raised the stakes each episode, until it was time for a payoff, and they just went for a shock ending, leaving so many loose ends and details that went nowhere and had no impact on the story. They wrote themselves in to a corner, and probably hurt their arm patting themselves on the back for subverting expectations. They creatively drew a blank trying to figure out how to tie almost anything together with all the story threads they wrote. Such a waste. Nothing was resolved, most didn't get what they deserved, huge amounts of time were taken on things that had no impact. It took until the underwhelming ending to understand that the writers were wasting time on a story that should have been much shorter, considering how it ended. It's pretty bad when you can cut 75% of the story and still get the same results.

Give us a thrill and finish it with a loop, will never be a conclusion.
Hamjul16 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The acting was top notch, storywise meh~. 10 episode and the ending is just karma and just a loop... I hope the ending just let adam be part as the baxter's, and that was the biggest punishment for michael knowing his son is under baxter's control and his future live would always be connected to them.

Talk about loose ends...
Ottodane14 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Major spoilers here.

Okay so the only reason I'm not rating this episode even lower is because of two things. The first is Bryan Cranston's performance. The last scene is held up by his extremely believable acting. He really seems like a father watching his son bleed to death in his arms. And that's the other reason I'm rating it higher than I would... ADAM IS DEAD! HOORAH! I was saying to myself, OUT LOUD, as the episode drew to a conclusion, that I wouldn't be happy if Adam didn't somehow die. I wanted it to happen this entire series, and I know I'm not alone in that regard. Everyone hates his character, and the stupid looks he gives everyone. He brought this show down about 10 pegs and every scene with him made me want to turn the show off and quit altogether. Not just his demeanor was annoying, but every damn choice he makes gets stupider and stupider. Which is saying a lot considering that his first major choice in this series is to leave a boy he just ran over bleeding to death in the road without calling for help.

Anyways, here's what I really didn't like about the episode. LOOSE ENDS! This is a limited series, which I am grateful for in the way that I won't have to watch any more of it ever again, however they treated this episode like it was a cliffhanger for a second season. What about the sexy teacher? Do we just assume she keeps her mouth shut? What about detective Costello? Do we assume SHE just keeps her mouth shut based on Charlie's offer? What about Lee? Do we just assume-okay you get the point. It was all leading to a big showdown where the truth was sure to get out. So many people knew in the end, but instead we just focus on the fate of Adam, and the rest is literally up to our imaginations. And what was the point of Michael's late wife having an affair?? Where and when did that matter to the story at all?? I was beginning to think that there was going to be some big plot twist where we find out Michael had her killed out of jealousy, showing us that he has been morally bankrupt for long before the events of the show even start. Honestly, it would've been a pretty cool twist I think. Too bad it meant nothing at all. Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen a more obvious cliffhanger for another season, and there's not even going to be one. Again, I don't want another season, but that just means that all the more I was wishing for a satisfying conclusion.

When Adam got popped, I cheered and laughed. Something tells me that is the opposite reaction of what was intended for the audience. That, in my opinion, is the greatest failure a piece of media can achieve. It's a shame. This show started off so promising. It was immaculately presented and filmed, and for the most part well acted. But as the show went on, the conflicts just became more and more forced and obvious. There are so many little conveniences that are only there to push the story along, and any child with half a brain could see that. But the show is made for adults. The worst part is that even though these conflicts were not organic at all, they were all leading to a finale that had promise of being legitimately intense and tragic, but instead it all just gets abandoned to make way for a "shocking" ending, before cutting to black. Insulting, really. Cranston, you deserve so much better as an actor and a director. As for the kid who plays Adam..... maybe just try a different profession, man. Sorry, maybe a lot had to do with the writing, but you're damn near unwatchable in this show. How he got cast as a lead without having an ounce of charisma or likability I will never know. It's almost as if they wanted us to hate him so we would feel okay when he died. Because trust me, we are okay with it.

The theme of justice is of course heavy handed in this show. Jimmy Baxter is a terrible, violent gangster who loses his son. Michael does terrible things to protect his son, and loses him all the same. Adam ran over Rocco and left him to die choking on his blood, and Adam dies choking on his blood too. Justice, right? Ugh idk what the show is even trying to say. What is justified and what isn't. It's just a mess of messages. What about justice for Kofi, and his family? Oh that's right there is no justice for anyone unless they do terrible things. Except for Carlo. He just gets off Scott free. Whatever. I'm done. I've spent too much time on this damn show already. Yikes.

Bryan Cranston is a legend. His acting is incredible but this season finale had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Poetic and sad end to a nail biting series.

Surprised by all the hate but I liked it
rshep2015 February 2021
One thing I like in any drama is not being able to predict what is going to happen. It isnt the only thing but I hate it when I feel like I know where the work is going, ofte times I can even predict the next sentence. Not so with this show. I was surprised at every turn and especially the ending.

Aside from the unpredictability, I thought the acting was good as well as all the other parts which go into making a production.

I, like others, didnt realize that there wasnt going to be a season 2 so that catches me off guard as well. I was wondering where it could possibly go from here? The answer I guess is nowhere.

Perhaps all the people giving it one star are geniuses who knew what was coming but if not, then I question their taste and ability to judge. It wasnt Breaking Bad but it was competent, entertaining and surprising and compared to a lot of the drivel which gets produced, it exceeded.

Awesome
nawafalyousef-2941215 February 2021
Such an amazing show. The story is interesting, the characters are well written, and the acting is SOMTHING ELSE. Jimmy Baxter is terrifying, I really enjoyed watching him unlike that stupid ***** Adam who whenever he's on I want to turn the screen off. Bryan' performance was great as always.

Anyway it's enjoyable I really liked it and the ending will shock you.

I hope there is season 2 even tho it's a limited-series.

Decent end - want more
RussHog18 February 2021
This was a decent end to the show but I'd like to have more. There are a lot of characters in this show and I would have wanted to know more about them. I think the drama between the judge and the criminal could have been delved into a lot more. I would prefer to get a season 2 than have it end this way.

I liked it. In that moment in court when judge decides not to allow the kid to testify he seals his sons fate. If the kid testifies the Baxter kid goes to jail and there's no attempt on his life.

Bring my time back! :)))
athirn16 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I really don't know what to say about... this. I get the whole idea of the show. I'm okay with this clumsy story of a "fallen angel". And I have no questions about the sudden ending, when only the judge and his son get it coming - and no one else. The only question I have is why the heck I've spent my time watching this? :)))) If I wanted a clumsy real-like story with dumb decisions causing unnecessary deaths and ruined lives, I'd watch the goddamn news! The second show of this kind I've watched recently, and I don't get the trend.

The actors are great anyway, and that's what's annoying me the most about the show.

P.S. And yet I wonder, what punishment would Adam carry, if his daddy would've not tried to save his skinny stupid ass in the way he actually did.

Part 10
bobcobb30124 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It was an intense finale, with a lot of suspense and even a little comedy thrown in with him trying to find a way to sneak in through a locked door.

Not a perfect finale, I think the writers thought the "poetic justice" moment was a little more powerful than it was, but a gripping one for sure.
