The Black Phone (2021)
Watch this!!!
Don't listen to the reviews saying about depth to the story- this story was so rich and amazing, I was on the edge of my seat non stop. Please do yourself a favour and watch this- NOW.
Lightyear (2022)
Don't listen to the bad reviews!
We really enjoyed this. My 9 year old sons and I watched it on Disney plus and thought it was good fun and had some funny bits in, plus it had some laughs! Definitely worth a watch.
Spontaneous (2020)
People didn't understand the metaphor
It's a metaphor for leaving school and going forward with your life- some people die or 'crash and burn' and don't make the most of life, and some people live.
Click (2006)
A poignant reflection on life
I love this movie. Yea it's an Adam Sandler but it was one of his better ones before they became crap.
This is a movie that will hit you harder when you're a parent- I have twin 7 year olds and it made me want to go upstairs, wake them up and hve a pillow fight. I also just ordered some planks of wood to start a treehouse with them. It's one of those movies.
Just go, get off your phone and spend some time with your family.
Riverdance: The Animated Adventure (2021)
Really enjoyable
Bit of light entertainment that can teach younger children about loss. Really nice film.
Oxygène (2021)
It was fine but woman! Stop breathing!
The one thing that hacked me off about this is she's down to 6% and heavily breathing!!! Jeeez.
Them (2021)
Disturbing but oh so watchable
I finished this in a single sitting, it is absolutely uniquely terrifying in that this is still relevant and this kind of thing only happened such a small amount of time ago!
The acting is superb!
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
A visual masterpiece
This movie is hilarious, moving, exciting: everything a Spider-Man movie should be. It's the best one by far- I'm not a bit superhero movie fan myself but watched this for my kids- and I loved it!
Run (2020)
A solid thriller that kept my attention
This movie reminded me of one of those really good books that keeps you wanting to turn the pages. It's great!
What Dreams May Come (1998)
The most underrated movie!
I can't believe some people have never even heard of this movie- it's an utter tragedy!
It's a stunning piece of majestic visual filmography, that hits you right in the heart and makes you remember every time you ever loved. The scene at the end when he finds her is the most touching performance I've ever seen by Williams.
Your Honor: Part Ten (2021)
Poetic Justice
Those saying it was 'just a shock ending.' It wasn't. It was symbolic of the fact that all things happen for a reason and we can't necessarily weave them to work in our favour just because we will it. Ultimately things work out how they always would, which is why there is the dramatic irony of Adam's death being reflected almost identically with the blood etc as Rocco's. Solid, if not depressing, ending!
House M.D.: Chase (2012)
Broke my heart
This episode broke my heart for Chase. I honestly wish so badly this had worked out for him. I never felt he truly loved what's her name, but Just in this one single episode I felt his love for her. I really wish it had worked/ I cried at the end! Poor chase 😢
The Fungies (2020)
Reminds me of napoleon dynamite!
My kids love this! It's funny and sweet, promotes kindness and inquisition.
Hop (2011)
Really funny- I enjoyed it as much as the kids!
Not sure why this is getting such low scores. The acting is really good, there are some genuinely funny moments that made me laugh out loud. My 7 year old twins loved it, said it's their favourite movie now!
Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)
This had the potential to be a huge flop...
Honestly when I saw and heard about this, I imagined it on the top 100 awful movies up there with Cats. But it was bloody brilliant! Acting superb and it has some decent jokes for the adults as well. Really good!
Onward (2020)
Amazed this hasn't got a higher score!
This is quite honestly one of the best family movies I have ever seen. I was in tears throughout it and my 6 year old sons said it was the best movie they've ever seen.
Don't do anything else- just see it!
A Thousand Words (2012)
Why didn't he just write stuff down and say he had lost his voice?
It's an entertaining movie but I don't get why he wouldn't just write stuff down!
Dino Time (2012)
Worst script ever written
My kids enjoyed this, don't get me wrong. But they're 4.
What possessed the actors to read this script and STILL say yes to putting their name to this movie I don't know. It tries desperately hard to be funny and doesn't succeed. The characters are undeveloped, the plot doesn't make sense and the interactions between the characters is nonsensical. At times it's like the script writers were told they had 2 minutes to complete it and rushed to do it as fast as possible.
Terrible. I cringed so hard through the whole thing!!!
Joker (2019)
A masterpiece that will live on
I don't need to say much here except it was beautiful, harrowing, thought provoking. Phoenix's acting was so profoundly deep and moving that I cried throughout. Insanely good.
Wounds (2019)
Excellent acting and very eerie
All of those people saying this movie doesn't explain anything. It kind of does, actually. During the movie you hear that there is a portal through the 'translation of wounds' basically from what I understand, to bring evil beings into the world through the 'portal' of wounds. It's brought about by the teens who used he books in the first place and Eric got the cut on his face. Anyway, even if I'm wrong, the idea still is that there is evil and it's all to do with the wounds. Pretty gross at times, which is why I scored it lower than I would have done ordinarily. Not many films creep me out but this one really did. It had an eerie sense around it, made me uncomfortable. The acting was truely superb.
The Kid Who Would Be King (2019)
Exciting and hugely entertaining
I watched this with my 6 year old boys and they absolutely loved it - they were captivated by the story! The lesson is great, the way the bullies overcome their selfishness and learn to fight together against evil! All of the acting was superb too! I loved it too, an enchanting, exciting and brilliantly written story. Defintaely give this a watch- it deserves way more than 6 stars!
Another Life (2019)
Can't even be bothered to go into detail
It's just terrible. To be fair I only made it to almost the end of episode one- but the main woman is so hateable you wouldn't believe- like a proper 'I want to smack that bee in the mouth' kind of actress. She's supposedly an astronaut but is acting all 'ohhhh what does that mean?' Etc etc.
It's just terrible. Don't watch unless you want to feel physically sick and incredibly angry all at once.
Aladdin (2019)
Absolute thrill ride for children and adults alike!
I absolutely loved this movie. The acting was great and the actors themselves absolutely charming. Beautiful singing from Jasmines character. Great smile from Aladdin. Classic Will smith attitude from the Genie! The effects were incredible, especially at the beginning in the cave of wonders!
My twin 5 year olds loved this, so much that 2 days later they're still playing make believe Aladdin! Definitely watch it.
Instinct (2018)
Not impressed
I really want this to work. Alan Cummings is a total legend and his acting is absolutely SPOT ON as always. But as previous people have mentioned, it is predictable, obvious and terrible, terrible writing!
There is NO chemistry between the main female lead and ALan Cummings character. There is also no chemistry between Alan Cummings and his on screen husband- it's just not believable at all, it's cringe worthy!!
Once again this is no reflection on the great AC, the writers and casting directors are just shocking!
Curvature (2017)
Borinnnnng
This movie is basically just 2 people talking the whole way through about what 'is happening to me' and nothing ever really gets done. It lacks action, intelligence and any kind of real story line. and the acting is TERRIBLE
