Survival and Sacrifice
claudio_carvalho31 August 2016
The SGC sends the MALP to probe an unknown planet. Out of the blue, the SGC is unable to control the MALP that flies and Sam suggests to shutdown the Stargate. However there is a power surge that damages the equipment and Sergeant Walter Harriman is wounded. Soon Jack, Sam, Daniel and Teal'c discover that some alien form of energy has invaded the computer system. Furtherm they find a weird device built by the alien. Jack decides to destroy the interface of the computer system with the device and the alien takes over Sam's brain to survive. The alien explains that the MALP has destroyed part of its society and he came to destroy the SGC. Now it is using Sam's brain to survive since they will not sacrifice Sam. What will Jack and the SGC do ?

"Entity" is a different film with a sad story of survival and sacrifice. The alien form is only trying to save itself and its race that has been partially destroyed by the SGC. And is capable to sacrifice itself to protect his society. My vote is seven.

Title (Brazil):"Entity"

Intetesting But Predictable
Easygoer101 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This plot is repeated through many seasons of SG1. The military wants to destroy; Daniel Jackson wants to communicate. It gets old after a while. Far too much time is wasted. Obviously, a simple solution (earlier) would be to offer an alternative. Instead, the writers drag this is out to the end; as usual.

Old story, new emotions
mkvonbergen3 November 2012
Warning: Spoilers
A computer-based alien life form taking over a member of the SGC is nothing new. Just last season (3), all four members of SG1 were taken over by a mind-embedded, controlling electronic probe: what we see here. So, old story and not much new by way of plot.

What IS different, though, is the relationship between the members taken over and those trying to solve the situation. It is Carter who is taken over by the probe, and Jack, whom we now know cares deeply for her, who has to get rid of the device. Thus, I felt as though the plot gave viewers the chance to see a different side of Jack than we usually see: Usually, it is Daniel and Carter who are the sympathetic; this time, it's Jack who develops his sympathetic side a little bit. He faces some hard decisions (getting rid of the alien, possibly terminating Carter) and comes away a richer character for it.

doesn't seem to fit the journey of sg1
Abink0411 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The writing just feels off. (peter deluise in starting credits) The way the characters have previously developed for positive outcomes among differences changes here. It seems less believable that sg1 just changes their outlooks on morals and focuses to end the threat over understanding the problem. Also the ending is not well thought out.

What even

Shaky science at is best with one of the most wtf endings of a stargate episode yet. Decent effects, but a super weird concept. The stephen hawking voice was just too much.

Once a Neanderthal, always a ......
kingsx_6430 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
While trying to understand an intelligent aliens motive for coming through the Stargate and taking control of Catrter, Jack does what he often does. Goes all Neanderthal on the being. Forcing yet again, another hostile response that could have been avoided with a little thing known to everyone but him, as sensitivity, thoughtfulness and wisdom. It gets a little old seeing his inability to form an original plan episode after episode. Me Jack, me fire gun, you die arggg

Emergency shutdown
northernwallaces21 February 2022
Wouldn't it make sense for the emergency shutdown to be in the control room, rather than in the Stargate room?

The fact that it's in the Stargate room means it can be compromised at any time as and when anything comes through the gate...

An interesting Alien encounter, with a flawed premise
gergle-127 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The Entity has come to SGC, following the carrier wave from the MALP radio. The Entity claims it has come to destroy SGC because the radio waves from the MALP has damaged the apparently energy based civilization. I'm sorry, but if the low power radio transmitter on the MALP can damage you, naturally occurring background radio waves from atmospheric disturbances (lightning) or astronomical events (sun flares impacting the atmosphere, for instance) destroyed you long before you reached sentience. If the civilization was computer based, same thing.

Cliche, predictable, and fiction
AlekMitch27 May 2022
Not only am I seeing more and more TNG ideas, I'm also getting lazy writing and boring episodes. We've seen this before, no need to make more of these same stories. Also the doctor now seems to be an engineer, seeing these electrical beings and being able to identify and transfer them into humans. Too much fiction.
