- When the SGC probes a new planet, an alien energy entity there responds by invading the SGC's computer systems, and then Major Carter herself.
- After a MALP goes out of remote control, even flying wild, an energy burst during an emergency Stargate shutdown causes serious damage in SGC, and wounds operator Sergeant Harriman; Dr. Fraiser keeps SG-1 down for check-ups. It soon becomes clear a 'computer program' has entered through the wormhole, and is taking over the SGC computer network. Even after Sam shuts it down, it reemerges, constantly requiring more memory. It not only 'nests' in a hardware constellation it creates, but even manages to take over Carter's brain and communicates. It's a non-corporeal life form, whose entire home was damaged by a virus caused by the MALP radio waves, and believes its best survival chance is inside Sam, as the humans won't sacrifice her. True soldier Jack, however, decides to play hardball.—KGF Vissers
- After SGC sends an unmanned probe to a previously unexplored planet, they find themselves being probed and their systems being overloaded. They shut down all of their systems but not before something enters their computer system. They are clearly dealing with a sentient being that is doing what it can to survive. When they corner the entity, it enters Sam Carter using her brain as an information storage device. Now able to communicate with the others, the entity claims it had no other choice but to take over Sam's brain if it was to survive. It also knows that they will not eliminate Sam to destroy it. O'Neill makes it clear just how far he is prepared to go however.—garykmcd
- The SGC sends the MALP to probe an unknown planet. Out of the blue, the SGC is unable to control the MALP - it even flies - and Sam suggests shutting down the Stargate. However, there is a power surge that damages the equipment, and Sergeant Walter Harriman is wounded. Soon Jack, Sam, Daniel and Teal'c discover that some alien form of energy has invaded the computer system. Furthermore, they find a weird device built by the alien. Jack decides to destroy the interface of the computer system with the device, and the alien takes over Sam's brain to survive. The alien explains that the MALP has destroyed its society, so it came to destroy the SGC. Now, it is using Sam's brain to survive since they will not sacrifice Sam. What will Jack and the SGC do?—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- Stargate Command is infected by an alien probe that uploads its program into the base computers, where it accesses sensitive data on Stargate program and its personnel.
The virus program is detected and apparently deleted from the mainframe. Unknown to all, however, the entity's program has downloaded itself into the MALP (Mobile Analytic Laboratory Probe) room, where it continues to thrive, building itself a new body in order to contain the immense volume of data it has purloined.
When SG-1 discovers the entity, Col. Jack O'Neill wants to destroy it, but Maj. Samantha Carter and Dr. Daniel Jackson feel that they should attempt to communicate with it first. Carter tries only to be overcome by a blast of energy. She is rushed to safety while O'Neill shuts down the entity, presumably killing it for good this time.
However, the rest of SG-1 soon learns that the entity is far from dead. In fact, it now exists in a new vessel, one capable of storing even greater volumes of data: Carter's body.
With the base under siege and the alien entity poised to overwhelm them all, O'Neill and company are confronted with a dire prospect: In order to save Stargate Command, they might have to sacrifice one of their own.
