My favorite Bart Simpson episode

Warning: Spoilers
WARNING: THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS

This is one of my favorite episode that stars Bart Simpson along with Bart vs Thanksgiving. The subplot with Homer and Marge was only average. I understand that is weird when Bart falls in love with someone who is older than him. My favorite part from this episode is where Bart imagines Laura ripping His heart out from his chest, which makes this my favorite scene from Another Simpsons Clip Show. I consider that is the most bizarre scene of the Simpsons. The rating I give the episode slightly above average, which is 8.9/10. New Kid on the Block is one of my favorite episodes from season 4.

Bart Falls in Love!
g-bodyl4 January 2015
This is the eighth episode of the Simpsons and it's a very good episode exploring the themes of love and puberty. It's incredibly funny as the jokes are on top of their game. I also like the fact that we get to meet the other neighbors of the Simpsons, not just the Flanders. This episode also receives the benefit of two prank calls to Moe, which are always the best.

In this episode, "New Kid on the Block," The Homers receive new neighbors in the form of a divorced Ruth and her teenage daughter, Laura. When Bart sees Laura for the first time, he instantly develops a crush on her. But he gets heart-broken when he finds out Jimbo is her boyfriend. Meanwhile, after being kicked out of an all-you-can-eat buffet, Homer decides to sue the buffet.

Overall, this a very solid episode and it's a better episode than the previous one, as it has a better story to tell. I like the fact Bart is madly in love and I also like how Homer is made out to be some sort of circus attraction because of his appetite. I rate this episode 9/10.

I married her

Bart falls in love with his new neighbour.

This is a strong episode with a good little arc for Bart and the supporting characters Laura and Jimbo Jones.

The standout moments for me are the interactions between Bart and Laura, plus a number of moments involving Homer are also very good. Characters like Lisa, Lionel Hutz, Grampa, and Moe also have strong material.

Sara Gilbert and Pamela Reed have great cameos.

The Older Woman
Hitchcoc25 April 2022
When a divorced woman and her wise for her age daughter move in next door, Bart immediately falls for the girl. She has a couple years on him, however. She is also nice to Bart and they develop a friendship. But complications involving age difference intervene. Meanwhile, Homer decimates an all you can eat seafood place and then sues when they throw him out.

Homer shouldn't be around any buffet!

This had a really nice story to it.

Jimbo really deserved what Bart did to him.

He should've lost the lawsuit and dealt with a bunch of fees or something instead of getting to eat at the seafood buffet for free and be a freak show.

This episode also had a really nice twist on the stereotypical Moe prank call.

It's crazy how much Homer was able to eat with taking the steam trays and all the strange stuff.

New Kid on the Block

Warning: Spoilers
I've watched Simpsons episodes perhaps a total of three thousand times, and while I haven't rated them all yet, I thought I'd seen them all, at least those of the classic era, strangely however this episode has evaded me, never have I seen it on TV, nor seen it referenced on any Simpsons related mediums. It was however a great episode, I believe this is Bart's first crush which is pretty cool given the number he develops over the years.

Not bad, but not the best

Warning: Spoilers
Season 4 is a great season. Most of its episodes are outstanding. A few aren't but they're still good. New Kid on the Block is one of the latter. In it, a woman and her teenage daughter Laura move next door to the Simpsons and Bart develops a crush on Laura. She's cool (but polite to adults) but she's not interested in the younger Bart, and goes out with the bully Jimbo Jones instead. Bart's heart is broken and seeks to break up the couple, which he does.

By season 4 the makers of The Simpsons really figured out how to make people laugh and a result is that New Kid on the Block is funny, poking fun at Homer's gluttony, Bart's hopeless crushes, Barney's alcoholism, and typical teenagers. Still, Bart breaking up the couple was kind of pointless seeing as how Bart still couldn't go out with Laura; the age difference was too significant. The episode merely ends with Laura saying she would go out with Bart if he were old enough. Also, if Jimbo Jones is a teenager, why does he go to Springfield Elementary School? I guess that's the kind of thing the writers don't want you thinking too much about. And, those thoughts aside, we can laugh.

Laura, Jimbo and Bart Too
safenoe26 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Sara Gilbert, who became very famous in Roseanne, guest stars as Laura Powers, whom Bart falls in love with, but Laura loves the tough guy persona, so she falls for Jimbo Jones, and Bart thankfully manages to get his revenge so good on him heh heh. Anyway, I'm enjoying reflecting on the early seasons of The Simpsons, which in my humble opinion represent the golden era, being the first 10 seasons. Anyway, New Kid on the Block portrays a love triangle that many can relate to, and what it means in the whole wide world to have their crush spurn them for someone tougher, so well done to Bart for his justice.
