- TriviaMrs. Weir hands Mr. Weir a vampire cape, telling him to "put this on". There's a little pause put in for SCTV Network (1981) fans to remember that Joe Flaherty - who plays Mr. Weir - was an original member of the "SCTV" troupe, and one of its most popular characters was Flaherty's "Count Floyd" from "Monster Chiller Horror Theater".
- GoofsJust prior to being egged by Lindsay, yellow yolk can briefly be seen on the right side of Sam's face as he is arguing with Neal. The shot immediately before and after, however, Sam's face is clean.

[Kim Kelly cranks up the car stereo]
Daniel Desario: Will you knock it off, Blondie, you're gonna blow the speakers.
Kim Kelly: Oh I'm sorry Grandpa, I'll try not to blow anything of yours from now on.

Devil's night fiasco
It all starts off well enough with a silly gross-out cold open, but 'Tricks and Treats' is bittersweet to its core. This Halloween is no fun for the Weir family, with Lindsay going all-in with her rebellious side, souring Sam's evening in the process. Even Mom's fun goes down the drain.
It's got its fair share of humor (Bill, primarily, in the worst Bionic Woman costume) and that mix helps balance things out. It's heartbreaking to see Sam lash out at his sister ("Nobody thinks you're cool, you know!" . . . "Trust me, I know") but then, the payoff is a tonic all its own.
The mix is what counts; it's a funny, painful and satisfying witch's brew.
9/10
