Arnold Schwarzenegger has shared some health news. The Terminator star and former California governor revealed on his Arnold’s Pump Club podcast that he has been fitted for a pacemaker after having undergone three open-heart surgeries.
“Last Monday, I had surgery to become a little bit more of a machine: I got a pacemaker,” he said.
“First of all, I want you to know I’m doing great! I had my surgery on Monday, and by Friday, I was already at a big environmental event with my friend and fellow fitness crusader Jane Fonda,” he continued. “Nobody would ever have thought I started the week with a surgery.”
“I want to thank my whole team at the Cleveland Clinic. All of the doctors and nurses took amazing care of me and made the surgery as painless as possible,” he added.
Schwarzenegger initially underwent two open-heart surgeries in 1997 to replace his pulmonic valve and aortic valve.

Actor Brendan Fraser, who is known for his work in films such as ‘George Of The Jungle and ‘The Mummy’ franchise, got teary eyed after his film ‘The Whale’ received a six-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival.
When the credits rolled on the Darren Aronofsky drama, in which Fraser plays a 600-pound gay man confined to a wheelchair, the actor was overcome with emotion.
Among those spotted inside the Sala Grande Theatre were Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Nick Kroll and Hillary Clinton staffer Huma Abedin, who was seated a few rows behind Fraser and shed as many tears as he did. Many others inside the theatre also broke out a handkerchief during the film’s heartbreaking final scenes, reports ‘Variety’.
Fraser hugged Aronofsky several times during the ovation. He tried to leave the theatre at one point, but the outpouring of clapping was so loud, he stayed longer and took a bow.

Brendan Fraser has defended his casting as an obese man in forthcoming film The Whale.
In July, the first image was released showing Fraser in the role of a middle-aged man who “lives with obesity”.
To inhabit the part for the film, which marks Fraser’s first leading role in nearly a decade, the actor underwent a significant physical transformation. He also used prosthetics.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Fraser said that he never wanted weight to become a “one-note joke” within The Whale.
“I looked at other body suits that had been used in comedies over the years, usually for a one-note joke,” Fraser explained.
“Whether intended or not, the joke is, it defies gravity. This was not that.”
Vanity Fair also notes that film studio A24 did not provide any more photos of Fraser, including any showcasing his full body transformation, for the feature.

The concept of Choose-Your-Own-Adventure storytelling isn’t a new one; just ask any ’80s kid who grew up reading the classic book series, where you jumped from section to section based on your own decisions. But Netflix has now evolved the experience off the page and on the screen — taking advantage of the streaming model in new ways for TV storytelling.

Charles Bronson plays a real-life Mafiosi in a period picture with a fine script, some good performances and a production so sloppy that the whole thing could be called The Anachronism Papers. Joseph Wiseman and Lino Ventura bring additional tough-guy star-power, and Bronson actually commits himself to the role — quite a change of pace for one of his later pictures.

The 18th annual Hollywood Film Awards kicked off awards season Friday night, and for the first time ever, the event was broadcasted live on CBS. Host Queen Latifah entertained the crowd at the Hollywood Palladium as viewers and attendees got a glimpse of some of this year's major award frontrunners.
Robert Downey Jr. kicked off the evening, presenting the Hollywood Supporting Actor Award award to his The Judge co-star Robert Duvall.
"There’s never been anyone better and there likely never will be," Downey said of Duvall, who was equally effusive about his co-star.
"The reason I took the project mainly is because of Robert Downey Jr," Duvall praised. "We spent many good times together."

Duvall also thanked his wife Luciana Pedraza, laughing, "I’ve had a few better halves, but she’s the best better half I’ve ever had."

It should have been bad. It should have been terrible. A live broadcast of the Hollywood Film Awards with Queen "People's Choice" Latifah as host? A network spotlight on the most fake awards show of them all? Even with low expectations, how could talent go on stage and pick up these, cough, "awards" in front of a national audience? An award given to them because they were available to show up and their studios lobbied for it? (At least fans vote for some of the Teen Choice Awards!) Well, watch out Critics Choice Awards because CBS and Dick Clark Productions figured out a way to fashion a much more entertaining two hours than you've delivered the past few years. Ok. Maybe they got lucky. Maybe. Live events thrive off the unexpected and the 2014 Hollywood Film Awards had a ton of it. Major flubs, some seriously intoxicated presenters and a number...

The poster screamed: “Most criminals answer to the law. The world’s most savage executioner must answer to Bronson.” Since the late 1960s, Charles Bronson’s name on a marquee was a guarantee of unchained action. When The Evil That Men Do opened in 1984, fans were hit with the expected violence─but this time they were also assaulted with thick layers of sadism, sleaze and depravity. And they loved it.
Born in 1921, Charles Bronson (originally Bunchinsky) was a dirt-poor Pennsylvania coal miner before he was drafted and later used the GI Bill to study acting. After dozens of small roles, he became a popular supporting player in hit films like The Magnificent Seven (1960) and The Great Escape (1963)─then went overseas to star in European pictures like Farewell, Friend (1967), Once Upon a Time in the West (1967) and Rider on the Rain (1970). Veteran character actor Jon Gries is best known for his gut-busting portrayal of Uncle Rico, he of the orange van and dashed dreams of high school football glory, in the 2004 cult gem Napoleon Dynamite. Jon Gries is also recognizable as Roger Linus on Lost, but the actor has been kicking around in Hollywood for decades, ever since he appeared in 1969 at age 11 opposite Charlton Heston in Will Penny, a western directed by his father Tom Gries. Some of Jon’s other films include Monster Squad (1978), Get Shorty (1995), and Taken (2008). Jon is also an accomplished musician, having composed songs for the films Twin Falls Idaho (1999) and The Big Empty (2003). In 2010, after directing several music videos, Jon tried his hand at directing a feature and the result was the acclaimed redneck road comedy Pickin’ & Grinning’.

I think everyone remembers where they were August 31st, 2003 when they heard that Charles Bronson had died. I was visiting my brother in Atlanta when my nephew knocked on my door and informed me that CNN had announced his death. I collapsed into a sobbing heap. Bronson was my hero, my muse, my role model. Hollywood’s brightest star would shine no more. It’s hard to believe he’s been gone ten years.
Charles Bronson was the unlikeliest of movie stars. Of all the leading men in the history of Hollywood, Charles Bronson had the least range as an actor. He rarely emoted or even changed his expression, and when he did speak, his voice was a reedy whisper. But Charles Bronson could coast on presence, charisma, and silent brooding menace like no one’s business and he wound up the world’s most bankable movie star throughout most of the 1970’s.

This week’s Wamg Top 10 is having a look at all the on and off-screen couples of Hollywood. The Drew Barrymore/Justin Long romantic-comedy, Going The Distance, comes out next Friday on September 3rd, so we thought we’d give it a go with our list of favorite “Work and Play Couples.” Let us know what you think and who you would put on the list in the comments section below.
Honorable Mention: Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz
Lucille Ball was a rising star under contract to Rko Studios when she was cast as the female lead in the film version of the Broadway smash Too Many Girls. Prior to the start of filming she was introduced to the young Cuban singer who had taken New York City by storm, Desi Arnaz. Stories from several sources in that Rko office said that sparks flew when they locked eyes on each other.

Elliott Kastner, the American producer of Hollywood films including 1968's "Where Eagles Dare" starring Richard Burton and 1977's "A Little Night Music" starring Elizabeth Taylor, died June 20 in London of cancer. He was 80.
The producer based his work at London's Pinewood Studios for years. Some of his best-known movies include three big-screen adaptations of Raymond Chandler works: "The Long Goodbye" (1973), "Farewell, My Lovely" (1975) and "The Big Sleep" (1978).
Kastner began his professional career as a literary agent and also served for a couple years in the early 1960s as a vp production at Universal Pictures.
He left the studio to become an independent producer, and for his second film, Kastner hired up-and-coming novelist William Goldman to write his first solo screenplay. "Harper" (1966), starred Paul Newman in one of his star-making roles, and Goldman went on to win two Oscars for screenwriting.

In Charles Bronson news, two of his westerns, Once Upon A Time In The West and The Magnificent Seven, made this weeks list of Top Ten Westerns here at Wamg, but there’s an outstanding western that Bronson costarred in very early in his career worthy of discussion that most readers are probably unfamiliar with. Drum Beat from 1953 starred Alan Ladd and was based on a true story about a violent Indian uprising in the 187os. It’s an impressive and exciting outdoor adventure but Hollywood studios were churning out hundreds of westerns in the early 50’s so it’s not too surprising that Drum Beat, though so superior to many, hasn’t received its due. The most notable thing about Drum Beat is that it provided Charles Bronson with his real break-through role as an actor. Bronson’s scene-stealing performance as an Indian chief received a lot of attention...

Bronson did not rise quickly in the Hollywood ranks.
