The Munsters (2022)
4/10
It was alright, but I'll never watch it again

Warning: Spoilers
I grew up on re-runs of the Munsters. I enjoyed the silliness of the show, and now as an adult, really appreciate the great acting of Fred Gwynne, Yvonne DeCarlo and Al Lewis. They had fun with the show. Anyway, this movie was a real mixed bag. I did like that they gave Herman and Lilly a backstory. I didn't understand why young Herman was in a rock band? It really didn't fit his character, and only existed to have him wear his Hot Rod Herman costume. He abandons his band when he meets Lilly, and does everything he can to be with her. Which is in line with his character. Lilly and Herman were very in love in the original series. The only actor I enjoyed was the guy who played The Count. He was like the second coming of Al Lewis to me. Looks, mannerisms, yelling at Igor. Igor was apparently human once, so that was interesting. You also learn how they get Spot. For me the first half of the movie is just weird and drags a lot. Once Herman and Lilly are married and move to Los Angles, it gets better. Sadly the movie is almost done at that point. I enjoyed some of the cameos like the creature from the black lagoon. I was disappointed by the Wedding of Herman and Lilly, the hair should have been styled like the actual Bride of Frankenstain, since that's who Lilly is technically supposed to be. Anyway, I took this as what it was, but will never watch it again and will stick to the old re-runs and even the Munster go home! Movie.
