Forrest Gump (1994)
10/10
To say this is a masterpiece is an understatement, it is perfect.
10 March 2023
Forrest Gump was a movie that I willfully ignored.

At that time, when I saw the trailer of the movie and the comments of the huge number of people I knew who had seen it, I thought it was just another sappy story about the self-improvement of a mentally handicapped person from the limitations imposed by his condition in life.

Some time later I deigned to watch it on Netflix. And then I realized the mistake I had made prejudging it, and I had no choice but to give in to it.

Because in reality the film is not about a mentally handicapped person overcoming himself, but about an exceptional human being who is able to live his whole life in complete innocence.

An apparent underdog, whose simplicity hides an unconscious wisdom, which will help him to overcome turbulent times and come out of them unscathed, keeping intact all his purity.

In short, an admirable being capable of inspiring and motivating all those around him.

I warn that it is not sensible to look for verisimilitude in this cinematographic story. It is obvious that it is practically impossible to emulate such a life.

What it is about is the positive emotions it conveys, its incredible optimism with respect to the human race.

Because not only its protagonist is extraordinary, but the whole cast of characters that populate the story.

I confess that I could not help but be moved when I saw Lieutenant Dan making peace with himself while swimming legless in the ocean.

To conclude, I would like to mention as an additional, albeit secondary, attraction, the interesting review that the film makes of the recent history of the United States and the magnificent soundtrack that sets the scene.

So with all that said, I can only recommend this optimistic reflection of the human being.

The Mandalorian (2019– )
9/10
Urgent message for Disney
3 January 2021
After the success of the first season of The Mandalorian, it was obvious that the series was going to have a second season. And now that it has come to an end, we can officially say that it is one of the best we have ever seen in the Star Wars universe. While the first season focused more on original content, this second season develops more of the characters we met in the first 8 chapters, while introducing some new ones and above all, brings back authentic legends of the saga. All this without losing the style of a galactic western and with more spectacularity. Baby Yoda and El Mandaloriano have become two of the best characters in Star Wars; and their relationship is touching. For this season, Greef Karga, Cara Dune and the moff Gideon are also back, all of them great The only snag we can put on it is that its chapters are too short; although well, a certain chapter lasts barely half an hour and is absolutely magnificent. In short, this season has far exceeded all expectations. It is epic. It's Star Wars history. The Force at its best

Soul (2020)

Ingenious and fun, but not the best of Pixar
3 January 2021
I think it may be Pixar's most complex and adult film to date. It has always been a factory that has made films for everyone's enjoyment and not children's films, but on this occasion, there are many moments when I have doubted whether a child will find out much about it.

Apart from the fact that the parents may already have an opinion, I have liked it a lot, perhaps the most in years. Even with its complexity and density on a spiritual/emotional level it passes in a breath. Its moral is not that it is a vital revelation that will change your life, but I am very happy that it is a counterpoint to the bombardment we are currently experiencing of the pursuit of success, the pursuit of dreams and the obsession with success and leaving a deep mark on history.

With another approach and line of argument, he continues the trend of 'Inside Out', of putting on a therapist's gown and looking inside ourselves. And for me, it is better taken than that one, which was already a good film. Soul', as I say, was very good, it has emotional moments in the style of Pixar and it leaves a moral that I love and that is the best part of the film (with permission from the OST). Even so, after seeing it, I have found out if it really leaves a mark in terms of message and content, if I'm going to bother my friends with it and if it will enter the list of essentials of the factory or if on the contrary I'll forget it easily. Time will tell. 8/10

Tenet (2020)
4/10
I think it's the worst film by Christopher Nolan
19 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Nolan continues to show some ingenuity in creating stories, but the form and body of his narrative is not strong enough.

Tenet is not as complex a film as it seems. What seems to add to that complexity is how poor its narrative remains, unfortunately, in terms of film language and script, lacking any feeling and whose only purpose is to convey information to the viewer. It shines in the action, without being overflowing, but it does not bring any emotion in terms of the really important moments in the story.

It uses its already known temporal tricks to tell a story of spies that covers past, present and future, but despite the interesting idea, its development is clumsy and monotonous.

I still feel Nolan's narrative is very artificial in both text and editing. The vast majority of his films have a very big problem of rhythm and tempo in terms of directing and editing; but the fault of this is his own text, which is only used to exchange dialogues with data, data and more data, without providing a minimum of empathy or depth to any of the characters... They all act just because he puts it in the script.

The action, although ingenious, sins from these problems. They work only because of the music track that accompanies them, which is what generates the tension, but beyond that it also feels quite artificial.

It is a pity that a film with such an original and interesting idea is left empty by the ways of bringing it to the text and the screen.

Tenet is not a complicated film to understand, but the alleged complexity of the idea is compounded by the neutrality and hollowness of the narrative.

Don't spend money to go see this movie!
5 September 2020
Now that Disney owns Fox, the mutants, like The Fantastic Four, will be able to slowly integrate into Kevin Feige's master plan for his Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is a pity that The New Mutants have had to dance with the ugliest, and not only share a release date with Christopher Nolan's Tenet, but because almost no fan is unaware of the long and tortuous path of this superhero film with the soul of a horror movie. Unsuccessful trial runs, reshoots and, to top it off, a pandemic. In the end, what counts is that here we have it, with its attractive cast and daring proposal. But this eagerness to satisfy both audiences at any price has left her halfway to nowhere.

Dani Moonstar is taken from the Cheyenne reserve where she lived with her father after the devastating attack of a gigantic supernatural beast. When she wakes up, she finds herself confined in a containment center for teenage mutants who still do not control their powers and, according to her only supervisor, Dr. Reyes, are a potential danger to society. Although Dani is not yet aware of her abilities, there she will meet and collide with four young mutants, discovering a world full of possibilities, but also of terror, because after their arrival, the fears of those who reside there begin to come alive.

The film is vaguely inspired by the celebrated Mystic Bear Saga (The Demon Bear), published in the 80's from issue 18 of the original collection of The New Mutants, the first spin-off from X-Men (The X-Patrol in Spain) before becoming that best-selling phenomenon that ended up multiplying its satellite collections like Gremlins. Bill Sienkiewicz's innovative illustrations and the effective scripts of the mutant patriarch, Chris Claremont, who raised to the altars the original formula conceived by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby two decades earlier, is honored in its adaptation by Josh Boone and Knate Lee, authors of the script, which pays tribute to the healthy diversity of the original comics, and which is one of the film's successes, although with little space, given its meager 90 minutes of footage, excluding final credits, some of which, by the way, reproduce some of Sienkiewicz's unforgettable art.

It is clear that its director, Josh Boone, was signed up for the project thanks to the teenage angst he portrayed in Under the Same Star. One that here is made more credible by the two actresses with the most mileage: Maisie Williams, in the skin of Rahne Sinclair (Wolfsbane), and Anya Taylor-Joy, none other than Illyana Rasputin (Magik). Not in vain they are the two most developed characters and best transferred from the cartoon to the frame. However, once again the usual chronological chaos of Fox's mutant universe is imposed (a reason for mockery even for Deadpool in one of the most applauded jokes of his first installment), and Illyana's roots are overlooked, as happy as that would have made so many fans, as well as her pointed plot connection with Logan, who insists again on the figure and influence of a villain that neither Logan nor The New Mutants end up presenting.

That tortuous path to the halls seems to have left The New Mutants reduced to its minimum expression. An almost naked frame, an involuntary Glass teen transcript that at least manages to hold a cast that will be very attractive to its audience, with an Anya Taylor-Joy who will stir up passions with her Magik, which is all that is dangerous and sexy that the character and his fans demand. And that is already much more than what Sophie Turner achieved last summer in X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Cursed (2020)
3/10
What the hell is that?
4 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Cursed could have been good. Because it has several ingredients to be interesting. But it's such a nonsense in several ways that it's a junkie mess of people running around and meeting each other all the time, because otherwise it's not, but small is very small. You run away to the convent and there they appear, you go to another town or you hide behind the only stone in the forest. You will always meet the same four people.

The series is supposed to tell the story of King Arthur from the point of view of a teenage witch. Except they say his name is Arthur because the story could be the myth of King Paco and he would have had the same relationship. It's one thing to freely rely on the myth and another to give the name of Arthur to the random black guy who was passing by and running around. Because I refuse to think of that boy as an actor.

At the same time and while they betray each other for no apparent reason, there are some bad guys dressed in red whose motivations are not very clear to me except that they are bad and they burn people alive, or rape and things like that. Then they call the protagonist a witch, because she is a witch and she gets angry and impales them alive because her powers move the branches. Which is very cool because they live there in the middle of the countryside, because they get that in the city and see what she impales them with, with moss?

Call me ignorant because I've never lived in the Middle Ages, but the girl is a bit of a witch, and a bit dangerous too because she doesn't stop killing left and right and she's also quite vicious in the way she kills them. She is supposed to be the good one because she is the one with the best make-up, but those in red do not lack motivation to finish her off.

She also uses them in a dice game to win using witchcraft, and when she is accused of witchcraft she gets angry. Seriously, I'm not sure about this girl and her powers, because when the wolves attack, she has to take out her Excalibur and get a cheap Kill Bill. If I was a witch I'd say, "Ale forest kill the wolves for me, I'm going to rest on that rock and get some nice shots."

In between there is also Merlin, because there has to be Merlin because the truth is that he doesn't have any influence. Here he's bald and hot and he's always drunk. Of alcohol, not of the vapours of mixing potions.

And so the chapters are spent talking like "He must leave with the first rays of the morning sun" or "follow the path until the horizon is bathed in the light of the west wind" instead of saying. Look, girl, the first roundabout on the left.

And then the production is... very fair. The photography shows all the cheap backgrounds, there is no shot design, there is no smoke or textures, everything is hyper lit and saturated to the point that it seems that I have recorded it with my iphone and I have asked a friend to put a sheet around it and run through a wasteland. Except that my friend knows how to act better than Katherine Langford, because poor thing, it's distressing to see her try to act.

VERDICT

Damn, Cursed, she's really bad, pretentious, looks cheap (although they sure have spent money) and on top of that it's not clear what it's really about. The staging is too chaotic to understand where the characters are going or what has happened to be side by side again. Or maybe they explain it, but I was looking at my mobile phone because it's very boring when you grow up.

Sword Art Online (2012– )
2/10
Does anyone watch this show today?
30 July 2020
When I began to see it I had great expectations, even though the animation was not really of any taste in general and so I continued chapter by chapter. At the beginning it is revealed that everyone is locked up in the ODS until they manage to get out of all the dungeons, and on top of that if they die in the game they die in real life; here everything becomes interesting and the expectations rise.

When things were getting really good and everyone was cornered in a dungeon, the villain they must face (who ironically is another player) is pathetically defeated and from that moment the SAO universe begins to be completely destroyed; yes, it's that simple. More than disappointing when the story is at its climax and everything is resolved as easily as that. After that, Kirito wakes up in the real world to discover that Asuna was "virtually kidnapped" in another video game (called Alfheim Online) and sets out on the journey into that new world to save her, from there on everything is easily deduced: she is faced with new villains, a new nemesis and blah blah blah. As a curiosity, I began to watch the second season where I realized that it would be the same one, but with more fanservice, now Kirito is a female sniper -fascinating, isn't it?-; enough to stop watching the series. When I started No Game No Life I actually ended up satisfied (waiting for a second season that will probably never come T.T ); and recently I started reading Ressentiment (on a friend's recommendation) and I got some very good surprises and found some very interesting stories. On the other hand, with SAO I got a huge dececption when the game ended so pathetically and they started with the same thing, but in another video game. With the small hope that the second season would wake up something of interest and rescue the enormity fiasco that was the first one I dedicated myself to see the first two chapters, to realize that it would be the same if not worse. In short, it was a complete waste of time to watch this series, and I hope you don't fall into the same trap; you'd better find something else to watch.

Grand Theft Auto V (2013 Video Game)

Fantastic
30 July 2020
It's a great game, with a world that any area you explore will surprise you and give you a good experience of unforgettable gameplay, although the story could have lengthened about 40 missions or more, because for my taste 69 missions despite being long and enjoyable, but having a trio protagonist, is very small. Although I would have liked that they implemented more things in addition like being able to dance with disc fever in L.S. or that there are the mythical minigames (Of arcade) that for my were passable and the lack of interiors. Rockstar hit the target for Sadnbox lovers and hopefully will impress us with its future release... But for the time being, we have to keep on viciating! :D

the best video game of all time
30 July 2020
The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time has a beautiful gameplay has a large map unforgettable characters for what else I have to say is a captivating game that will leave you many hours of fun you would never get bored of that video game in my opinion is the best in the world Comments from others may say different things but I just I say what I think of that video game that was not only one of the best sellers of the whole Nintendo but also the one that I need to make more effort to create it. Also, from that video game came out the other deliveries of the best graphics Zelda even that Zelda is the best not based on their graphics not so well detailed that had in the N64 still has its essence in the 3ds

Sense8 (2015–2018)

Pretencious
29 July 2020
Sense8 is one of the most pretentious series I've ever seen. It's full of insipid protagonists who come straight from a low quality airline magazine. If you're 12 years old with low brain activity, you might like it, but seriously, people, it's not even for a hangover Sunday. The only thing that is minimally funny is that the producers make fun of a Latin soap opera that one of the main characters is doing, in which he is an actor. The irony is very evident, the quality of the actors in that telenovela is better than the slop that is the series itself.

Why does this exist?
29 July 2020
A film that takes advantage of naive and hormonal teenagers or maybe just a desperate way to make money, either way this movie sucks. Visually it doesn't innovate at all, most of the film we can only see static shots of the characters who are talking at the moment. The Color Palette seems synthetic, there always seems to be a perfect climate, and it lacks movement.

The story, like its predecessor lacks character, is, as I mentioned, a cheap re color from another film, without adding anything new to the plot. Many of us have already seen it, and we are tired of seeing the classic romantic cliché adapted to the time, with very forced jokes that end up being uncomfortable, and with that so hypocritical attempt of LGTB "inclusion", that more than integrating it in an organic way, it seems only to want to make a show of it.

How believable this story is, I mean, the girl gets upset in the first place because she thinks she's been cheated on, and so she decides... to do the same thing? It's because of this normalized toxicity that real relationships don't work afterwards, and I say this mostly as a social criticism, do we really want boys and girls to idealize these kinds of romances?

The characters don't seem to learn from their mistakes and fall back into them again and again. Jealousy is the main character in this sequel, the protagonist jealous of her boyfriend, going so far as to check her phone without his permission, (which unleashed many misunderstandings) the best friend's girlfriend practically forbidding his friendship with the protagonist, just out of jealousy, and in short, I don't give any more thought to the subject, which is already sounding repetitive

THE BEST OF SHONEN
27 July 2020
It's definitely one of my favorite animated series. The best of anime shonen surpassing even Dragon Ball. Its texture, color and lines remain engraved in the mind, and together with what it already had (characters, adventures and scenarios) it complements to perfection its past and its future. Epic battles, whose missions were to save the world and the personal improvement of the characters, focus of his critics, but that without a doubt he overcomes with total facility becoming a completely alive legend series.

Does anyone remember this?
26 July 2020
The film lacks the least density, there's nothing to make us believe the story. We're faced with a barrage of nonsense and bad jokes, starting shortly after the characters are introduced at the beginning of the film. The only thing that can be saved is Kristen Wiig and her complicity in some scenes with Melissa McCarthy. Otherwise, it's all clowning and characters that don't shine at all even if they try hard. I'm not comparing it to the old one, I'm valuing the film itself.

Pulp Fiction (1994)
10/10
this is a fantastic film
26 July 2020
Quentin Tarantino demonstrated to the world the powerful ingenuity he possesses, and of which he boasts in every minute of this one, his best film, of 2 and a half hours of duration. The real magic of the film is that its viewing is short and leaves you wanting even more, despite its length. Another particularly attractive aspect is its black humour and ordinary situations. Everything is incredible in Pulp Fiction, but without a doubt the most charismatic thing of all is its script, dividing the facts into chapters that were later imitated in other films by other directors and repeated with other films such as "Kill Bill". These chapters are not even exposed in a chronological order, which forces the viewer to fit the pieces of the plot, which would be difficult to describe. The next strong point is the very famous cast with brilliant performances that raise the quality of the film to unattainable levels. In particular I want to express my admiration for John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson in their roles as thugs/collectors (Vincent Vega and Jules, respectively) with unforgettable dialogues and discussions that are present almost at all times in their joint performance. Another ingredient magnificently introduced is his soundtrack, with great themes, besides the mythical title song, including pop, rock and soul themes (I find especially elegant Travolta's dance song with Uma Thurman, by Chuck Berry). In short, I can only say that I find no fault with this film and that I do not bring anything new that anyone already knows about this work. Unless Tarantino does something of this magnitude again, this is one of my favorite movies of all time

Booooooooorrrrrrrrriiiiiiinnnnnnggggggggg
25 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
"Star Wars: The rise of Skywalker", is a tedious ride that did not reach the parameters that even some spin offs had achieved and where apparently there is some more success to squeeze the creative legacy of George Lucas. Little for such a presumptuous heritage.

The tone of discovery of the character of Rey and his capabilities - and I'm not quoting a quality reference - for example I was very different - in a bad way - to the Neo of the sequels of the "Matrix" saga, where although I was aware of its potential was unraveling new dilemmas in each film. In that plan, the interest after the break-in dropped noticeably and the closure at least in that cyber-adventure -like it or not- made sense to me, something that J.J. Abrams was not able to generate.

The fan service may be one of the most notorious breaths of this last fight between Jedis and Siths, since the mentioned anguish and misplaced face of the protagonist's "I don't want to be here", is surrounded by a series of moments worthy of Marvel's formula to carry out her films with humor and action, a strange stamp to see in these corners of the galaxy devised by George Lucas. Perhaps we need to analyze who imitated who, but that's another analysis. In addition to the cheered up fan service, within the fortresses the powerful soundtrack appears, to see Carrie Fisher on stage one last time and why not, Oscar Isaac with a trance more charismatic and entertaining to see than in the recent adventures he had as a rebel reference.

I also found this episode IX long. More than two hours and ten minutes to frown with a taste of déjà vu without the effect of the first or second time because we are talking about the third trilogy! so the search for different ways to satisfy the palates of film fans is a need that can be met by following basic premises but with different factors that help to weigh the ingredients improving the whole. A dish of pasta that can be presented in various ways but in this case, being the main dish of the menu, it fulfils few of the expectations -already weak- that it had generated.

Spielberg makes a fool of himself
25 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A worn-out argument and not being able to get anything new out of it or at least something old but working Spielberg makes one of the worst sequels you can see. Without being able to achieve the effect of being in front of something new that had the first delivery, in "The Lost World" one expects at least to see more and better dinosaurs and special effects, but the direction of the film disappoints, the dinosaurs seem less real than in the first delivery, the performances are lousy (especially those of Goldblum and Moore), the argument or the adaptation of the same one is badly threaded, arriving to the end of making a Tyrannosaurus Rex was about to be captain of ship "kamikaze" with the mission to destroy San Diego. To make matters worse, John Williams is infected by this mediocrity and makes a boring and bad soundtrack. Spielberg's mercantilism managed to ruin a good previous film, with the distance and obvious differences I wonder if for a few hardcore Cervantes would have dared to write "Don Quixote II, Sancho's Revenge".

A perfect film for a perfect series
22 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The End of Evangelion continues right where chapter 24 of the series ended, and does so in the most spectacular way ever seen in traditional hand-drawn anime. Despite the fact that at the beginning what may call the most attention to the film is its unquestionable technical and artistic quality, in the end it turns out that it is the most secondary thing in the film, and more important than the artistic power that the film shows, this film represents better than any other the tremendous power that is achieved with an unsurpassed narrative by images and with an infinite amount of symbolism and philosophical references that it shows throughout the film. All these elements together make this film the highest peak ever reached by Japanese animated cinema. The power and impact of the images seen on the screen, the tremendous philosophical and existentialist dialogues in the film, make this film infinite, since it covers so many possible themes and paths that every time you see it you discover some new reference. This film achieves what any other film based on a series would wish, to close the story or rather open it up in an absolutely perfect way and become one of the greatest cult films ever created. Simply the perfect ending to the perfect series.

a film of the bunch
22 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The story is interesting and deserves to be continued. But to get to know it, if you don't want to read the comic, you'll have to overcome the arduous task of watching this film. It has a decent performance, and some decent action scenes at some point. But you're going to want to remake the movie yourself just to change the soundtrack because it could improve the movie enormously. The soundtrack seems to be taken from the itunes of the typical teenage cock/rebel on duty and gives a very crisp/grimy touch to the action moments. I feel like it's an attempt to do something good but screw it up badly.

A simply magnificent series, the adaptations of Arthur Conan Doyle's novels by Mark Gattis and Steven Moffat are an entire masterpiece and although the series has errors, are not noticed at all, it is amazing, exciting and leaves you wanting more, to deepen more about the main characters and especially with the relationship between James Moriarty and Sherlock Holmes that becomes even better than one expects. It is simply a work of art in all its expression and the music is excellent, which adapts the dangerous situations, sad or happy of the series, I would not get tired of seeing it once again

Absurd
22 July 2020
A film lacking in emotion, with a bad script, sometimes even becoming a nightmare, where humour is conspicuous by its absence and where situations are forced to try and get a laugh out of us.

Another film, of the many that have been released recently, is of a commercial nature, because with so many sequels, second and third parts, they seek more revenue than trying to make quality films.

For this film, I only highlight one thing and that is that I gave the Oscar to the "dog", which for me is the best part of the film and he plays his role with total ease and without making mistakes. You can imagine how the other actors do it.

If you have never seen this series, and you call yourself an anime fan, you are really sinning, it is a work of art, without exaggerating, so I dare to answer the question with which I open this note. Yes, Neon Genesis Evangelion is the best animated series ever made and I don't think this is going to change soon.

If you have doubts, there is nothing left but to watch it, enjoy it and then, you will probably agree with me in saying that Evangelion is at a level far above the traditional anime.

MEH.....
22 July 2020
The worst film of Raimi's trilogy: After the success with Spider-man 2, the long-awaited Spider-man 3 was a disappointment. For many things, among them, the longed-for Venom ended up becoming a supporting actor, the cool dance of Peter "Emo" Parker in the middle of the street, comic book derivations, etc. But she's not "bad" until she says enough. It's not bad at all, it has its positive things. It has its positive aspects for the film's audience: it is possible that this is the film with the best soundtrack of the trilogy. The union of Christopher Young and Danny Elfman gave some very juicy fruits. Several deliveries of actors, like J.J. (he has done very well in this chain of films) and Flintt Marko, played by a Thomas Haden Church very catchy to the role. Among others, special effects or the Black Suite.

Joaquin phoenix is god
22 July 2020
Joaquin Phoenix certainly did an impressive, impeccable and magnificent job. I'm very dedicated to the role... Valla prepared himself very well and explained step by step how he managed to characterize himself in the best possible way for his role and how only great actors do: very professional. I am infinitely grateful that he has taken the time to investigate about the disorders, about the drugs, but above all for the time that he has dedicated to perfecting such an important detail as the Joker's laugh, a laugh that is so impactful and full of pain, frustration, anger and in many cases madness. A wonderful experience in the cinema for a lot with a great message, which unlike what has been said, has left me thinking about the responsibility we have in a society that instead of helping feeds violence.
