Surreal adventure that needs a second season
alahya19 January 2022
I only watched this with a Predator nostalgia. As a South American, the Spanish version makes a lot more sense than the English one. We are used to magical realism and the intangible harsh universe that embodies the jungle, and all related to it, therefore the show is good, filled with action and unexpected turns. The actors are really something, and the sets had me wondering how come they had the professionalism to go into those places... I wouldn't have even if paid... but the lows are located in the narrative, that many time losses cohesion. The way this story is being told requires a broader explanation, and some consideration toward the expectator that knows little of the frenzy connected to these places, especially the deep scars left by the opportunism led by the first European conquerors to the nowadays guerrilla groups. There's great potential here to keep developing an outstanding tale. Aside from that, the jungle is always an unsettling scenario for horror movies.

worth a watch
nublingnoob12 November 2021
Overall its worth a watch, but i have mixed fellings about this show, sometimes it borders on brilliance, other times its so confusing and almost surreal.

Its got great actors and acting, great location/scenery, some great moments of impending dread and some great action.

The pacing and story are a bit wierd tho, it showed some stuff i just didnt understand why it was there.

It also suffers from the characters making some really dumb tactiacal descisions.

The ending was very unsatisfying, it leaves you guessing alot, which some may like, i would of liked atleast some explanation on some stuff.

Defiantly deserves a watch if you like isolated location/ horror type stuff.

Predator meets The Descent
spinoff7527 June 2022
As a television product itself is well done. Filming in the jungle is not an easy task, episodes are way too long though. Directing and acting is not the best but is not awful. Photography and VFX are good but not prosthetics, all guts look fake. Direct sound is deficient, often you can't understand what the actors are saying (even if you are a native Spanish speaker) and as an original idea well, the title of this review says all: we see this before a lot: Sending a platoon on a mission to kill a drug dealer is same old story, to top that the creatures in the caves are pretty much the same as in "The Descent (2005)". . . So, meh! Production Company Rayhuela Films copy themselves, they already made a movie called "El Páramo (2011)", again with a troop of soldiers in the middle of nowhere that find some kind of witch. So double meh!

Only pros
tulio-122-37821329 October 2021
Fast forward first class action. Great score and editing. No melodrama at character building. Feels like it was done with real jungle commando survival guidelines. Amazon backdrop is as real as it can be as experienced by south americans in Colombia or Brazil. Tropes? Yeah, it'a flick aftera all, but not the usual pop culture wiki catalog archetypes.

It could have been a good movie instead.
spasmspasm24 September 2022
The premise is cool and very predator themed with a team going into the jungle to take out a target. I wont go into the story as I don't want to give spoilers but all in all it's pretty solid. The problem is it turns from an action series into long drawn out scenes that involve walking around in caves, jungle and abandoned buildings. These scenes at first are useful to build tension and jump scares are well placed and not over used but after a few episodes it becomes obvious that it's just padding to stretch out the run time. There are no answers to anything along the way so by the last few episodes I really didn't care what was going to happen because I suspected there weren't going to be any real answers. It could have easily been edited down to a long but action filled movie. It's worth a watch but be ready to skip a whole bunch of boring bits.

When Predator (1987) meets The Hill Have Eyes (1977)
danielcereto11 December 2021
Great idea to mix the best from the original Predator (1987) and The Hill Have Eyes (1977), two of my favorites. Also, most of the action remembered me two of the best video games: Call of Duty and Resident Evil.

So, overall the result is powerfully visual. Great action survival horror series. Hopefully season 2 will give us more answers.

Colombian Predator
dario-hr12341 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's not hard to spot the resemblance with the famous film with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Hope that the rest of the episodes detach from this similarity.

Already in the first episode they talk about crossing borders since the operation will take place in "foreign territory"...come on...if you're going to go to a neighboring country you mention it. Is it Ecuador, Venezuela, Brazil may be or Perú? Let's put some reality to the show and let's avoid cliches.

This will get in your head. Then it will stay there.
keithbevins2 November 2021
This television series gets complicated at a pace that isn't predictable. It's subtle enough while using a few shock moments. There are points in more than one episode where you might have to pause the video and watch it several times. The series starts off like an action adventure dystopian show then it evolves into an Edgar Allen Poe visual novel where you're yearning to see an H. P. Lovecraft twist for icing and closure. Well... the viewer isn't getting to turn off the TV that easily. The mystery element always remains. This is one of those great TV shows that gets into your head.. and it stays there. I'm hoping for a season 2 now. Or at lease a movie trilogy to wrap up several elements and story lines that can be spun off from it.. The cast is good enough; better than expected. The music works. The visuals are not overly used. When they are used the viewer is left with a conundrum regarding their use. It's worth talking about. It's one of those shows you can talk about with friends. I believe the producers and directors intended it to be complicated. This is a great watch for people who are highly imaginative and creative thinkers.

But for ending 😡..I loved it..
bribear7118 June 2022
I loved the narrative I loved the tribal cult like aspects of this I love the jungle setting I loved the slowly being revealed bits and pieces the more you watch.. but the end is very disappointing... Could have been a nine star for me if it had a better ending...

Too long.
Lilith_i7 November 2021
This had so much potential, started up fast paced, with 2 storylines that so far have not really intersected. It has great atmosphere, it looks great, the acting is great too.

But then, then they start stretching the story out so much, you could have a much better series, more condensed and fast paced if you take out at least two chapters worth of just nothing thay just had to have on screen. We are just finishing this to see what happens, but to be honest we are no longer watching, I'm literally on my phone right now writing this and plan on getting a drink after, won't stop the series, please just end already!

Apocalypse now in the jungles fo southamerica.
lagaminapd3 November 2021
The deeper they get in the jungle the better the series gets. Episode 4 is A BLAST! Every detail has a meaning further in time. The main character , Rojas, is a delight to watch. Great plot, amazing sets! I give it 9 stars.

Watching like a video game!
Almost_Soldout31 October 2021
It's quite interesting Colombian action(almost horror) by HBO MAX. To me it feels like watching brutal old school video game but no more: the plot is really simple and CGI of creatures are made poorly!

However, this shot and acted good, I couldn't make it - the characters are so flat - you can't hate them, you can't love them. After third episode as it got worse I have skipped the rest to the end and felt I missed nothing.

Not for everyone, but arthouse-horror / foreign indie fans will find it orgasmic
quantumphyzx7 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Mil Colmillos is a unique experience in a sea of contrived zombie and spectral scares. It doesn't have a consistent pacing, but it has a consistent palpable tension wrought with dread thanks to an excellent direction of photography and sound that really captures the mystery and sense of terror that only being trapped deep within a bloodthirsty wilderness can conjure/evoke. The show's first two episodes will definitely hook almost everyone who watches them, but then there's a definite lull in action sequences until episode 5 when it takes the action / violence of the first 2 episodes and gives it a hormone shot.

There's also the fact that the plot is far from spoonfed. There's actually two separate timelines occuring on screen simultaneously--the modern-day commandos battling the horrors of the bush, and what appears to be conquistadors or some kind of exploration party from the 17th-19th century trying to navigate and escape the tunnel system below the jungle that the enemy forces occupy. Then there's a seemingly immortal cult leader/demigod and a 'sickness' he uses to control people by turning them into frenzied psycopaths (ala 28 Days Later) who transcends both timelines and unites them by being the common enemy of both groups. The best way I can describe this movie is as a mixture of Predator (original), Apocalypse Now/The Heart of Darkness, and that one gore-porn movie by Eli Roth about the airplane crash survivors that are ensnared and subsequently cannibalized by an indigenous population (the movie's name escapes me atm).

The cinematography and dark, moody synth/string-based score for the show are all masterclass and do just as much for building your sense of unease as much as the horrifying, confusing plot does for creeping you out.

I really enjoyed this show despite its various flaws and lack of overall clarity. It's definitely an original twist on the whole plague and zombies cliche niche in survival horror and it definitely left me craving another season. But it's lack of advertising and overall lack of internet presence (and other media presence) has me almost convinced that we won't be getting anymore episodes in the future. One can hope, though!

I will silence the haters
vbcvd8 June 2022
I was a bit sceptic when i saw the bad reviews. I took the gamble, and it was worth it! I almost binged watched till episode 5. So don't be scared and just watch. Allthough it is a little bit scary ;). A mixture from Predator with fast paced Walking Death.

Annoying and Whining
akira-hideyo1 November 2021
Started with potential plot action but quickly descended into going around in circles from repetitive long winded stalking jungle and terrain in defensive mode. Zzz. I stopped watching after episode 3. Adios... Zzz.

Intense
herbertrjacobs14 November 2021
I am only on the 3 episode and it has been a nail bitting, mind tingling experience so far. Can't wait to see if it will hold the momentum. Sometimes the writer loses focus or don't have a good ending for a story. But so far, I have to take a break between episodes. And I'm watching the dubbed version.

It was OK
phoenison12 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It had potential. Great production quality, I found the acting good. Everyone's soul was in this, I felt, except for the writers. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but honestly I feel like I wasted nearly 7 hours of my life for a story to go absolutely nowhere. The monster designs were phenomenal, there was such a creep factor to the way some scenes played out, but there wasn't really a storyline. I'm all for changing up the expectations and letting evil win once in a while if there's a point to it, but there was no point to just watching tons of soldiers die violently over and over. Someone would have to get smart at some point - I guess this wasn't the type of show to showcase smart characters, just people who either run into suicide missions or cower and wait to be slaughtered. Not good.

Predator (1987) + Resident Evil videogame
danielcereto8 December 2021
Great B-series, excellent action, brutal deaths and overall pretty well executed with a limited budget. The series is a mixture of the original Predator (1987) plus Resident Evil videogames. It has all the ingredients to enjoy if you're a fan of movies like The Hill Have eyes, Aliens or The Thing. A must to old school horror/action lovers.

Hope for a second season - "Lost" on steroids
mmartic-2193713 June 2022
Unexpectedly, series kept me hooked, binged on it.

It's like action, surreal thriller and horror combined into one. Great acting, camera work and amazing Amazonian setting. Loved the pace, never dull, full of good action and suspense. Main actor is an eye candy, so hot!

But this season left us with so many puzzles missing! Hope there will be a second one.

A bright Jungle Horror idea that goes blurry
alvarocaste-2770816 November 2021
At first, it looks like a very interesting Survival Horror series of a bunch of soldiers that go into the jungle to execute a Kingpin, but find a supernatural menace that hunt them and make them go crazy. A clever mixture of movies as Predator (1988) and The Descent (2005) with action, psycological horror, confusing monsters, a cult, kind of anticlimactic psycopaths like in The Purge (2013) saga and a lot of more influences that don't connect in a right way. The series' got rythm issues and there are a lot of "dead scenes" when, basically, nothing happens. As there as many loose ends at the end of the season, the series suggest a second one, hopefully with a better plot development.

Interesting
gabberlunatic4 November 2021
It's a pretty good show and keeps you interested but sometimes the constant music gets a bit overbearing. The setting is pretty well done but the CGI let's the series down a bit. Still don't have a notion what's going on and am on episode 3 🤣 deserves a 5 so far.
