Very decent episode of the season. It wasn't funny or masterpiece but it was interesting for me so it was OK.

No Giggity, No Doubt

Warning: Spoilers
Another relatively funny episode of the show (by 2019 standards) but Family Guy's days are just long past them.

The storylines do not have any originality any more and we can only laugh at the same Quagmire bit so many times.

One of the best episodes of the season

Warning: Spoilers
When Quagmire goes with Peter and the others to a high school prom, he hooks up with Courtney, who he first intends to sleep with, but finds out she's his daughter. Feeling guilty once he learns she lives at a cheap place, he decides to let her stay with him. And they start bonding really well, but to the annoyance of Peter...

When I heard about this episode I thought "Isn't this just Quagmire's Baby again?" But despite the unoriginal plot, I still thought it was great. Quagmire was very funny being protecting of his daughter and doing silly stuff which annoy Peter. A particularly funny example is when he reprimands Peter and Joe for doing their typical childish jokes, since he finds them disrespectful to women. I bet that's how the writers feel when the censors keep screaming at them. Or when he's furious his daughter gets 9.2 in sports instead of full 10 points. He also does a skit with his daughter in the woods, which of course leads Peter to do his own sarcastic skit where he hangs himself with an invisible noose to show how bored he is. But I also found their relationship sweet. You rarely see the softer side of Quagmire, so I really liked how he and Courtney bonded. Mandy Moore was the perfect choice, she's very cute in the role.

There are not a lot of cutaways this time, but one I liked was Quagmire calling someone on the Maury show to tell him he's not the father to Courtney. It's one of those really random moments that throw me offguard and make me laugh at the same time.

Quagmire lashing out at Courtney near the end feels like it came out of nowhere, since they hadn't been fighting anything at all. At least he apologised to her afterwards. And I guess they couldn't contain themselves from including a generic bit about how much he hates Brian when he tells him off after he tries to pick up his daughter.

No Giggity, No Doubt is no doubt worth checking out.

Insufferable and Cringe-inducing

Even in its worse episodes, I have never seen watching a Family Guy episode as a chore. This episodes plot is so obvious from just reading a description of it you can tell where they'll go in the episode. Painfully boring and unfunny to the max

Funniest episode of the season so far

Solid jokes throughout and a few that stand out, specifically the invisible noose bit and the firefighter getting his get cut off, which completely caught me off guard.

Seems to me Seth MacFarlane has been more involved with the writing on the past couple episodes

STICK TO ONE STORY
zdflanders13 March 2019
Ok it's no mystery to anyone that the writing for Family Guy has become incredibly weak in later seasons. This is basically just another example. This show has a bad habit of introducing new characters that are just suddenly supposed to be essential to the main characters because they never knew this person existed before the episode. They did this with Brian's son, Lois's brother, Peter's REAL father, Peter's sister, Peter's many children, Quagmire's infant daughter, and now his new character. It's too many times.

When an episode can't focus on one storyline, it's complete garbage. That's basically what happened here. The plot started by focusing on the guys honing in on party bus events. Then it transitioned from that to Quagmire trying to be a father to his daughter that he tried to sleep with (or already slept with. It wasn't really clear). They had his daughter performing at a gymnastics event which I thought was going to be the focus of the episode but no. It randomly ended by Quagmire and Peter taking their daughters to a camping event.

Worst Episode Ever.

No Giggity, No Doubt - where Quagmire tries to be a father to his newly-discovered daughter. This episode was honestly like a drama - not one single funny moment! Although Quagmire is a dislikeable and creepy character, the writers' attempts to change him completely was unrealistic in regard to his established personality. The entire episode was pointless - like a bad idea that didn't work, but instead of scrapping it they'd obviously gone too far, and just continued on to its pointless conclusion. Connie's Celica was the best episode from more recently, the others mostly just had the odd good segment, but this one was truly awful - worst episode ever. 1/10 really is all it's worth.
