The strength of bengali shows lies in its huge array of literary works , rural bengal and the past.All three of which is used absolutely stunningly by Q.Added to this the seldom shown world of bengali folklore of ghosts and goddesses it achieves something i frankly have not seen in recent times.The only movie which i remember comes close is a movie called "patalghor" which was excellent and a pattern of story telling that is largely lost.One can easily see that the show could have been so much more,a little longer,the stories more engaging and something that the show moves towards by the end of the season which is lacking.It ends as just another ghost story but i am not complaining.
Starting from the fabulous Artwork,the direction,the black and white potrayal and play with lights,it just simply brings back hope for great bengali content,something for which we can be proud of.The acting is great,the potrayal of Taranath Tantrik,both old and young shows a person whom one can trust,fearful and confident at the same time.The premise of two friends coming to listen stories from taranath starts of great but by the end becomes a tad monotonous and one keeps hoping that the premise will change eventually which doesn't,the stories could have had a lot more anticipation and build up but due to time being so short,the episodes even though great ,feel lacking as if they did not live up to their full potential and ended prematurely.
Overall a great series and a fantastic start and anyone who says otherwise is just being too critical,just enjoy it for what it is,a step in the right direction.
Heres to hoping there is a second season and Q takes it even further , starting with longer episodes.
