Castle Rock Is Cooking!!!
gregoryroman-886351 November 2019
Season Two of Stephen King's "Castle Rock" is off to a great start. It has better acting, sets, writing, direction, & cinematography than Season One. Four episodes in and so far I'd give it a solid B+...hopefully it will continue to surprise, and I especially like the 'Salems Lot angle. No spoilers, but if you loved 'Salems Lot then you need to check out what King has unleashed on an unsuspecting small town in southern Maine. It's probably not what you think.

"You might say I've had a conversion of sorts."

Warning: Spoilers
The significance of a 1993 flashback reveals an important secret that was kept from Nadia Howlwadaag (Yusra Warsama) and her brother Abdi (Barkhad Abdi), which now threatens their entire relationship with Pop Merrill (Tim Robbins). Pop alludes to it during his 'good-bye' speech at the Mellow Tiger, but Nadia confirms it directly by confronting her adoptive father. Meanwhile, a zombie cult that's claimed the body and soul of Ace Merrill (Paul Sparks) comes to light when Ace stabs his brother Chris (Matthew Alan), alluding to his transformation with the words in my summary line. It's ironic that Pop Merill sought the advice of Father Drew (Aaron Staton), since the priest has already gone over to the other side, so to speak, and winds up finishing the job that Ace started. It gets more intense with each episode, and hasn't even reached the half way point yet.

Best episode yet!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode steps away from Annie Wilkes and focuses on the Merrill family. Nadia and Pops carry this episode. The problem has been the show killing off characters before they develop them. I didn't even know the name of the brother that got killed in this episode. Anyways, I hope this show turns it up a notch and weaves a nice yarn, and doesn't end like a dumpster fire like Season 1 was.

Great series, horrible war scenes

Warning: Spoilers
I love this series so far. However, that was the worst combat scene I've ever seen.

1. Why is this house in Mogadishu and the street it's on nicer than anything I've ever seen? How does it have electricity?

2. Why did the soldiers arrest two unarmed kids? Why did they shoot the mom who wasn't pointing a weapon at them?

Still love the series but a private two weeks out of basic has more military sense than whoever wrote that scene.

Restore Hope

Warning: Spoilers
Not bad, but this is not the kind of episode I think we wanted here. We knew they were going to kill time with a lot of backstory episodes, but this was not the kind of development we needed at this point.

Worst episode yet.
drfunk-180757 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This season has somewhat stumbled along with Annie Wilkes, the antagonist of Misery. This episode annoyed me to no end with the background of Tim Robbins character. Firstly, Robbins was almost 40 when the US was in Somalia. The idea of him being a foot soldier in Mogadishu is absurd. Secondly, the battle of the Mog took place within the slums of Mogadishu with a very heavily armed populace. During the night of that battle the US soldiers were hunkered down in vacant buildings getting shelled. They sure as hell didn't have the time to patrol affluent neighborhoods and arrest teenagers. This is not only lazy writing with a lack of fact checking but offensive to those that fought in that battle.

I'm not into the Tim Robbins story!

Warning: Spoilers
I get there doing a whole family war thing.. Making the two step kids immigrants is a great way to bring it into this century. But Idk if it because it was filmed so poorly. But she walks out in the street during a war.. the mother is running at them w/ a gun in her hand. & the soldiers react. The acting was bad & the filming of it was Terrible. Then they were trying to build up. The whole episode to the end. & she freaks & yells at him & calls him bad! It all just felt a bit ridiculous & poorly written. She admitted in the episode she felt like it was her fault well it was her fault why is she walking out into the street. Then the man who had so much guilt over it. Was trying to protect his men. Is made out to be the wrong doer. If they would have spent more time of the script they would have gotten this point that they are "Trying to do" but failing miserably at.. lizzy Caplan is doing an Incredible Job! She is the only reason I'm still watching this season! What I liked so much about S1 was they didn't treat you like you were stupid. This season they are hand feeding you everything. Yes we get it you know these bug ppl you killed u don't have to nod at them every time you see them or walk out of the room. I just really hope this gets back on track! Because they are wanting us to feel emotion right now! I cry at everything. I'm a hard core liberal. & if this story line isn't making me emotional & making me roll my eyes. I can't imagine what other ppl are doing!
