Outstanding and gripping
hellerfranz6 June 2019
By far one of the best TV shows I've ever seen. Hilarious acting, great humor and perfect timing. An OUTSTANDING example of storytelling that unfortunately comes to an end with this season since a fourth one will officially not be produced.

The best ending!

The one who commented below, seriously? His face is exactly a face of a cone man. I think he is a great actor and I wouldn't see the show be better with someone else.

still a great show

Warning: Spoilers
I'll admit I still think the first season was the strongest. This third season seemed to be more inconsistent, with the what I remember from the first season. But I'll admit, I may have not been paying as much attention as I should. Speaking to that, did they resolve the $200k bail bond issue?

In just a day, 10 episodes, 10 hours, 10 stars and the show surely did deliver ...
Aktham_Tashtush12 May 2019
Well ... as expected the 10 hours of watching "fake Pete" in action have paid off , filled with thrill and drama ,, a con after another a web of lies and truths all being uncovered ,, the excitement was at peak up until the end ,, and even then .. Pete remains as Pete :D

The plot was still of Marius Josipovic being entangled with his "new family" and as being dragged into their drama ... the new cons this season were brilliant ,, so unpredictable and you wouldn't really know who's gonna scam whom.

The cast was amazing, they've known each others for what !! 3-4 years now ,and the chemistry shows that .. the due of Giovanni Ribisi and Marin Ireland was genius and back and forth and level of tension when they're around each other is entertaining to watch ,, the character of Taylor Bowman (Shane McRae) have grown noticeably and introducing Lizzie (Efrat Dor) added so much to the danger element ... and of course not forgetting the other characters that brought up that quick comedic lines here and there to soften up the tension ,, "Real Pete" for instance was amazingly naive and funny in one of the episodes.

What I liked most about how it all ended (supposing it is ending, no news for a renewal yet) is that it shows how good of a person Marius is "or at least tries to be" and it opened his emotional side right at the end.

Amazon and all the other online streaming services are just ruling the market in class .. they might not have that long list program filling all the slots like NBC, CBS and ABC ,, but they surely do have that high class, skyrocket ratings for a long remembered TV shows.

Great season, what a build up to the season finale
weipengrui13 May 2019
The beginning of the season starts up and builds up wonderfully, everything leads up to this episode. It is so satisfying to see everything works out and the process has been entertaining to watch. The complex story line throughout the season has always engages me as the characters discover more bit by bit.

Hopefully there are more seasons to come, the plot is brilliant and the chemistry between the cast is wonderful, especially Giovanni Ribisi and Marin Ireland.

Giovanni Ribisi?
hosenoggin11 May 2019
This is a great series in the quality of Breaking Bad. Thank you Bryan Cranston. I would have rated it a 10 if it wasn't for the unfortunate choice of casting Giovanni Ribisi in the lead.... who is a continuously bad actor. Does he suck lemons prior to delivering his lines? He always makes the same squinty face in every scene that just gets to you after an episode or two. Doesn't matter if he is sad happy, angry, or indifferent,. it is the same lemon face.

Peak of a Character Study
TheFearmakers13 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It's impossible to rate any final episode without also grading the entire season, and this is the weakest season of a show where the first two were incredible, especially the second that, from beginning to end, was a mile-a-minute rollercoaster while Number Three is a lot of standing in line...

The conversations in that line weren't bad, and some suspenseful things happened. But the turnout of who the dead mother turned-out to be was a predictable letdown...

There is no way possible that the great looking, tall and well built villain Chuck Johnson would have fallen in love with frumpy Jane Adams as Maggie. Her New Age con artist character was always a bit annoying, and she was able to achieve without working hard like Marius has to: basically, she wasn't a highlight of Season Two. Her abilities are simply too easily pulled-off.

To the point at hand: Where most of this episodes' suspense is concerned has to do with what we know won't happen, and that's Julia's kidnapping and possible death: and she'll never die, of course. So the race-against-time was for the characters and not the audience: And you can say that about this entire season.

And yet, all in all, it had moments and is better to rewatch after going back and experiencing the entire series over again. It then becomes more of a deliberate character study than a perilous adventure sustained. Lke the difference between Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. One is blind fury. The other, a retrospective journey.

(YEARS LATER: To add after the fact, a little while later, after this show has long been cancelled... it was because, basically, the series ran out of ideas... It fell into the trap of getting too comfortable for core fans and became a cult series too soon without enough intrigue to allow more seasons to keep fresh and new, like the seasons that made this series be good enough to where it stopped being AS GOOD as before... plus this season kind of seemed like a deliberate final-season to begin and end with, so, anyway... it was a great ride when it was a great ride, and even when that ride slowed down, these were fantastic characters with terrific chemistry... and here I am, binging once again for what's possibly the fifth time now, so... maybe it was all meant to be...)

The final scene reminds us why we fell in love with this show...
richiehodev23 July 2022
...and how we ended up here - even if it required a whole lot of patience and grimacing. But for those who stuck it out to now, we are reminded of the on screen chemistry that Giovanni Ribisi has with the rest of this wonderful regular cast. In the end it mattered not what the scheme or the running con was (admittedly, I think most of us couldn't care less with the whole Sy Rubinek, vintage wine, or stolen paintings affair), but it was always been about Marius Josipovic wrestling with his inner intuitions of being a conman with the newfound love that he has for his surrogate family. And in turn, it is the family who also must learn to fall in love with a version of Pete, and find that they must turn to him whenever they fall get into trouble. What started out as Marius conning the Bernhardts, ends us as the Bernhardts conning Marius into leaving his past life behind. So who really conned who?

That was the magic of Sneaky Pete, and even despite the awful narrative of this Season 3, I will chose to remember this series for its heartfelt, impactful, and introspective moments.

Where Is My Money???
wandernn1-81-6832747 September 2021
I wonder. They didn't show Ricky Jay's face in this last ep. As he collected his reward. I wonder if he passed before this ep. Was shot. Sad. RIP Good Sir Ricky Jay. We miss you. +1 Star

The final scene is set as all the players congregate at the SANTA ANITA RACE TRACK! I know this place well since I grew up there.

Everything goes pretty smoothly but of course Lizzie shows up to get her money and Marius saves Julia from death and screws over Lizzie again.

Everything works out just fine in what I guess this turned out to be the series finale??? Sad. Thank you David Shore and Bryan Cranston for giving us 3 seasons of cons and grifts and double dealings.

6/10.

The Brooklyn Botash
bobcobb3011 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I understand that a lot of premium cable and streaming shows are moving more and more toward the idea of the big story being wrapped up in the penultimate episode of the season or early in the finale and using the rest of the time to tease next season, but I think that doesn't work and it really didn't work here.

Having all the action early on and too much talking and no conning near the end was a bad ratio.

Best episode of the series
dierregi2 July 2023
This 3rd series was the weakest of the three, with plots going nowhere (Lorraine anyone?), dislikable new entries (Lizzie), a con too labyrinthine to make any sense (wine, painting, saving Julia... whatever) and the whole Lila plot being tiresome beyond belief.

However, the last episode managed to tie up almost everything in a satisfactory way. Marius gets what he wants but very generously (and foolishly) he gives everything to his "family" (did he really? I hope some diamonds got stuck to his pocket).

The scene with Otto was kind of moving, Otto being the softies ready to forgive and forget as long as everybody gets along. It was a nice, melancholic ending, as if to prove that even hardened loners need a family or something. Shame that the edge of the series is completely gone and not surprisingly the show was over for good.

Season Three Review
southdavid2 May 2024
And so, the third and final season of "Sneaky Pete". I've enjoyed the first two but I'm glad that the show isn't dragging out the attempts to keep the whole family in the dark for much longer.

With Julia (Marin Ireland) now knowing the truth about Marius (Giovanni Ribisi) she debates telling the rest of the family, as Marius tries to extricate himself from the situation - though his feelings for them make it more difficult than he thought. He's offered an opportunity though, when an old friend, Lizzie (Efrat Dor) offers him a chance to join a score that she's putting together. Marjorie (Alison Wright) has strong feelings that Marius shouldn't do it and refuses to offer her support this time.

I'm torn between the fact that I really enjoyed all three seasons of "Sneaky Pete" and being happy that it's ended before it's high wire act of con artistry transferred from familiar fun to repetitive. This is probably as complex as the show can realistically get too, with Marius attempting to control two (or possibly three) cons at the same time each of which has its own (sometimes opposing) desirable outcomes. Efrat Dor is not the only newcomer for this season, with "Suits" Patrick Adams as a key character alongside a pair of faces who are unfortunately no longer with us, M. Emmet Walsh and Ricky Jay.

Again, its' a lot of fun watching Marius juggle all these issues and desires. The seasons secondary story sees the family come to Los Angeles trying to find out whether Audrey's other daughter is still alive, as Maggie suggested.

I'm OK with the ending which, though there were stories that could have been further explored, doesn't end on a cliffhanger and is satisfying enough. If you're on the fence about "Sneaky Pete" I'd say that it's underappreciated and underloved and certainly worth the time investment.
