Absolute Rubbish

The writing of this story is horrid. None of the characters have a legitimate motive for anything that they do. The criminals pander to each other for absolutely no reason and the main hero is like Dolph Lundgren if he were more dense. Very low budget, poor film quality and there really is no reason to watch the entire 93 minutes unless you like being tortured by boredom and stupidity.

Low-budget Australian Indie film that is refreshingly un-"Oztralian"
It's grungy, dark and Australian without the sunburn, awful "Neighbours" style acting and odd accents.

The characters are simple, unrevealing and human-like. They're not dripping with deep rooted twisted psychological deformities, they're just people.

It's a story. It's not an enormous, slap-you-around-the-face-while-pretending-to-be-subtle comment on the human condition... It's a character driven story (which is enjoyable, try and change my mind).

I liked this film, and usually I approach low budget Australian indie films with the same trepidation as the dentist's chair. This was one I could watch until the end without wanting to strangle myself with the Australian flag.

I thankyou!

Slick Production, Unsavory Characters, Good Suspense

Warning: Spoilers
"Wrong Night Stand" was an efficient, low-budget thriller with solid cinematic aesthetics. The close-ups were effective in evoking an in-your-face style of filmmaking. There was also a solid cast and decent scripting in this taut action picture.

Eddie and his buddy share time at the gym and swap stories about their lousy luck in romantic relationships. The friends go to a bar, and Eddie helps out Eve, one of the waitresses, when she has car trouble. The couple then spend the night together, and for Eddie, this turns out to be the "wrong night stand."

Eve fails to disclose to Eddie that she has been linked in the past to some unsavory characters. One is the sleazy owner of the bar, who has apparently demanded favors from his waitresses. The other is a virtual psychopath who becomes insanely jealous when he learns that Eve is in a new relationship. The result is twenty-four hours of hell for Eddie, including two trips to the hospital, and other sadistic treatment at the hands of Eve's ex-boyfriend.

The interesting set of characters included an eccentric private eye, who seems fascinated with the world of crime. That character will figure prominently in the action, especially when the police prove to be hopeless as crimestoppers.

The film included interesting set-ups and lighting techniques that often cast the characters in shadows. It was a perfect aesthetic choice for the dark nature of the film. While the ending was too abrupt and required a stronger dénouement, this fast-paced, indie-style motion picture is worth a view for its economy and imagination

One of the Best Perth films I've ever seen
jaderenaereid29 July 2019
What these guys have done on such a low budget is inspiring. Some Perth films, that have cost three times as much, haven't been half as good as this delightful thriller. Sure the lighting could have been better in some spots, which lost them a star, but I was honestly impressed. Fun, fast paced, great soundtrack and cinematography, adorable cast, I've watched it several times on DVD already.
