Good ideas but a little bit of a mess.
deloudelouvain21 December 2021
I can't say I was bored whilst watching Warning but it could have been so much better. The ideas were there, in fact you could make several different sci-fi movies with all the ideas from Warning. The problem is that now it all felt like an incoherent mess, it looked like short movies glued together in a movie without a clear comprehensive story. The acting wasn't bad, the futuristic views were there, but the execution could and should have been much better and that's a pity.

Unrefined and raw
kuarinofu23 October 2021
Looks like the creators pulled some interesting ideas from the Internet and tried to do multiple stories Black Mirror-style.

I can't say it was horrible, but the script needed a couple more revisions and improvements. Some of the things don't work, some of the dialogue feels very forced. And since Black Mirror exists, it's hard to make a good film about humanity destroying itself in the supposedly happy tech-improved future.

The setting worked mostly because of how cold and lifeless it felt, recognizable Central Europe backgrounds were a nice choice.

The acting ranged from not great (the android handler) to quite okay-ish. Most of the stories were not given enough screen time to shine, I don't know why they have decided to make it as short. The android story with more details would've been great if they'd given it more time to breathe.

There was potential in this film, but it was heavily undermined by the lack of story and details to munch on. Even the budget didn't hurt it as much.

I wish Agata Alexander good luck and hopefully, she will be able to refine this and create a good film out of this with a bigger budget.

I also wouldn't call it artsy, it has a good emotional side and there were no useless scenes of self-indulgence.

Really not that bad
duffasaurus17 October 2021
Basically a bunch of short films that take place in the same universe at the same time; the stories are tied together by a person or piece of technology being in two or more plot lines. The plot lines are basically mini-episodes of Black Mirror asking "wouldn't life be creepy if technology did this?" sort of thing. Supposedly the theme of these stories is supposed to evoke thoughts about the meaning of life... I didn't get that at all. To me I just thought it was an entertaining way to spend 80 minutes. Would I watch it again? Yes, actually, but with other people, not alone. These sorts of movies/shows are fun to talk about with people because the concepts depicted are fairly thought provoking even if (in this case) the movie is nothing special. It's not good but it is thoroughly entertaining so worth a watch at least once.

Incompetent nonsense but good acting
namob-4367315 October 2021
This movie has a lot of problems. Starting with that it tries too much and what I mean by that is that there is no flow or common tread. This spins on its axel, sometimes shaky cam, some times fixed, and we even see it as first-player-shooter camera at times. Sometimes futuristic music, sometimes nonsense, sometimes the movie tries to sell a future with robots etc and sometimes the feeling is that this is made in the 1980s. And people smoke! Like a lot. When did smoking become a thing in the future? The movie is sold as social criticism one second, and a futuristic existential drama the next. This is family, God, and relationship one second and end of the world the next. This is drugs and rape one second, and slow moving dialogue in Space the next.

This mixture and lack of directing is one key factor why this does not work. You can see the threads, and the scenes, but they are not together, this is not made good enough for us to really tell what is going on. They also mention Covid as a third outbreak with a lot of nonsense attached to it and this virus news is told by a voice sounding like a bored sex worker. So, so bad...

The second big problem with this movie is the low production value. Set pieces, clothes, light, and almost everything about this is smells and look cheap.

The two only positives are the acting which is solid by the entire cast, and the music which overall is excellent.

The movie is unfortunately a complete failure in execution. The script, directing, and storytelling is all horrible.

I can however see potential. Tripple the budget, make the movie 20min longer so we can tie everything together properly and polish up on everything I mention above and this could actually be something. I have the feeling that the idea is good, but nothing else besides acting is so it all becomes incompetent nonsense.

This movie desperately tries to be a futuristic more modern SJW version of Requiem for a Dream dosed with some end of the world porn. And it fails so badly it is not even funny.

I give this a 2/10. This is not the worst I have seen this year, but this is not something anyone should watch. Stay away.

If Black Mirror was a movie
clayton-929015 October 2021
It feels like a mashup of Black Mirror episodes stitched into a movie. From what i can tell, this is a feature length debut for the director. She has done a commendable job. Whilst not ground breaking, it was definitely enjoyable. It has some genuinely strange & disturbing parts. It did move me to think much the same way Black Mirror did.

Crap
hazeleyes-4749916 October 2021
I cannot believe Lionsgate picked up this movie. What a low budget boring stupid movie this was. Right from the beginning to the end there was barely any action in this movie at all. Confusing. Didn't know what the hell was going on.

Artsy. But boring.
randyjensen-9935915 October 2021
This film has an interesting contrast between many things. New and old technology. New and old filming techniques. The story means nothing because there isn't one. The acting is good but the writing is awful. Worth a watch if you want something artsy you have to figure out. If you haven't guessed by now, there's nothing to figure out. It's boring, there's no story and whatever this film is trying to be, it isn't it.

Short Stories Short
voyou-703-65535021 October 2021
Some of the ideas are pretty entertaining. Some of them even original. The storytelling is consistently good. However, each storyline ends without being entirely satisfying. They just end; they lack a meaningful conclusion.

Easier to live an illusion
nogodnomasters6 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The story takes place in the near future or so. Thunder Storms are disrupting life and some electronics that humans rely upon. An astronaut (Thomas Jane) and not a robot is attempting to repair a satellite when an electronic buzz blows him back and appears to disrupt the satellite. Meanwhile storm clouds continue in outer space around the planet. We follow a number of disconnected lives on the planet and their relationship with technology. We discover some folks can live forever, while others can not. Androids are used for companions.

The ending brings things together, but not too well. There is a message somewhere in all of this, the problem being there are too many messages and they are confused.

Guide: F-word. Sex. Brief nudity (Garance Marillier)

great sci-fi non-mainstream movie
josemanuelh16 October 2021
I am tired and bored of american industry sci-fi, either boring comics adaptations, or postacopalytic situations where americans always end up killing each other, never colaborating to survive, action, bad guys and killings ... so boring and unreal, at least outside USA

this polish/canadian film is different, low budget, but great direction, production, acting and story, actual and realistic

if you like black mirror you will love this one, if you are looking for blood, action and killings look somewhere else.

What did I just watch .....
Thanos_Odinson16 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
No, really. WTH!? What was the point. Usually when watching crappy semi-anthology pieces meshed up together in one movie like this, there is a pay off in the end. This one, nada!!! Like seriously, NOTHING!!! The only segment the felt like it was going somewhere was the one with Garance Marillier. But then it fell flat. And don't even get me started with the one with the chick from Big Sky (2020) and Legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger's son, Patrick Schwarzenegger. What happened between them before all that VR segment? And what was that one segment with one of our best Sherlock Holmes after Jeremy Brett, actor Rupert Everett about? What a wasted potential there. And that segment with Alice Eve?

Anyways, I could go on and on about it; this would have worked best as a limited mini series; each episode covering one of the segments and even then, it would at the very least be near the level of mediocracy of American Horror Stories (2021) Don't waste your time on this. 100% agree with the review from user contactmaz.

1 star just for the visual effect, which were surprisingly good and 1 star for the acting also, which was not bad at all.

How is this movie 3.8?
moatazmounir-2046417 October 2021
Honestly, if you like black mirror, love death robots, and this kind of genre then you'll love this.

You know a sci-fi that actually discusses technology and how it could affect us.

Loved it! So glad I didn't see the reviews first!

Kind of all over the place.
atwiththestars1 August 2022
But I sort of didn't care. This is a bunch of stories thrown together that are kind of related yet not. The stories were interesting, but not a lot of depth to them. The stories and characters are more themes and ideas that I found sort of interesting. I wasn't bored. And the ending I loved.

Disjointed
Ckn4813 November 2021
This was a completely disjointed and confusing film It didn't grab me and hold my attention and so I drifted from one confusing scene to the next. The individual scenes were fairly well acted and mostly goodish but the space scene was impossible, the religious scenes were too religious & the rest didnt make much sense or have cohesion.

Ultimately the film didnt make much sense and just leaves you wondering what just happened.

Poor Scripting The sound is ok The Photography is ok The Acting is ok

Its worth a watch 👍

Disjointed Substories
westsideschl11 January 2022
A bunch of sub stories on how tech may be reducing human connectivity, and well being especially when things go wrong. Somehow stormy weather had something to do with an asteroid/comet storm (not plausible, anyway we can send probes to redirect such objects) hitting Earth (sorry, that fails grade school science).

REally bad movie
tkarlmann19 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I just wasted 23 minutes of my life watching the first part of this absolute nonsensical garbage.

There's an Astronaut-guy floating in Space; a bad-looking robot that just got crushed -- because no one wants him; then these's an undecipherable mixed couple; and there's a girl who does nothing all day but talk to her robot/box that she needs -- constantly.

23 Minutes of this barf! NOTHING is happening -- in a film that someone rated 7.8 stars! Wow, to be entertained by this total nonsense your life might just some other activities more interesting -- like watching paint dry.

This is what happens when the writers do nothing but stare at their cell-phones all day long!

"Gone With the Wind" stand aside -- here comes "Warning" ... ... NOT!

Not worth anyone's time.

collection of short films
l154782484516 October 2021
Its very easy to produce a 10 mins short firm nowadays , many individuals can do that , on the other hand , make a 2 hour movie seems pretty darn difficult , it takes billions of money . So it came to pass that there are movies try to glue shorts to get a standard movie . Nice try I must say .

But the connection is week between those shorts , it would be better if more scenes about that.

Almost didn't make it to the end, glad I did.
oceaneeringet25 October 2021
Parts are hard to follow, jumping from one short story to the next, while a guy floats around. The last 5 minutes of the movie it tries to put things together some. Wish more time would have been spent on each story to develop it more.

It's almost like it was set up to be a tv series then stuffed into a short movie.

Warning! Warning! This is artsy-fartsy boring nonsense
jonasatmosfera17 October 2021
This is one of those ideas that look OK on paper.

But, when they are executed in film they become a confusing, convoluted mess.

Besides, this type of film seem to have a clear and defined agenda. There is always some social criticism and this idea that capitalism is bad.... I guess that we all would be better living as peasant in a communal farm, right? But the nincompoops who wrote and directed this minor celluloid disaster did not realize yet that they would not be able to make their little opus in the type of society they envision as ideal.

Anyway, the title of the film is very appropriate because it is a warning that it is really bad.

Black Mirrors movie but bad
danielgramos29 October 2021
This is like Black Mirror, but it's just slow and it is very vague. Only gave it 6 stars because I love the series.

I do not recommend watching it unless you love Black Mirror.

Absolutely terrible
enigma-947-33946724 October 2021
Disjoint bunch of nonsensical stories, barely intertwined. No real beginning, no end. Absolutely pointless waste of time. Ended up fast forwarding to get to the end, which was also garbage. There was zero point to this film. None. Whatever they think they tried to get across, they failed miserably.

Seriously pass on this. You can thank me later.

A refreshing change from typical sci-fi with this arthouse science fiction film.
Top_Dawg_Critic29 October 2021
I wanted to like it more, but the writing by the three writers was muddled, convoluted, not cohesive enough, and had plot and technical issues. The concept of the film was refreshingly unique - sort of an intertwining of a bunch of Black Mirror episodes. I'm not sure if the stories were split amongst the writers, but I felt some were much better than others. Even the intertwining of the stories could've been executed much better.

However, Agata Alexander's directing and camera work was excellent. She captured the real essence of many scenes with her exceptional choice of shots and angles. The cinematography was spot-on, and the casting and performances were on point. Many of the sets were amazing and showed a decent variety of class vs technology. The 85 min runtime and pacing were proper, but I would've liked another 15-20 mins added to elevate some of the stories and their characters - this coming from someone who is not a fan of anything longer than 90 mins.

Nevertheless I still enjoyed this untypical sci-fi, and considering this is writer and director Agata Alexander's first film debut as a filmmaker (only prior experience are music videos), she did better than some seasoned filmmakers work I've seen lately. Would I recommend it? If you are into tech, sci-fi and enjoy arthouse films, absolutely. Would I see it again? Yes, especially now that I know what's going on and what to look for. It's a well deserved 8/10 from me.

Future that no one chooses consciously
Ginc91116 October 2021
This film looks like a projection of the future how it is going to look like if humanity goes on by the materialistic path.

Acting is decent, the movie is calm what is rare in thees days.

Interesting subject, Terrible movie
masoudhaghi27 October 2021
Most science fiction stories like Robots, Artificial Intelligence and Privacy are no longer fiction. We are already struggling to deal with these subjects daily. It's always exciting to read stories or watch movies in this genre. However, I thought it was impossible to make a movie about these topics and make it boring. Today I have learned it's not impossible because this movie exists. I was bored halfway through and was disappointed at the ending of the story.
